"This can not be normal!" Grimm shouts as he takes aim with his hand crossbow and fires before reloading to let loose a second bolt as a bonus action at the tentacle of the beast.

Hmm, I was vacillating in deciding which to cast and obviously mixed them up a bit; so, operator error lead to spilled milk. Simplest remedy, call it Burning Hands.
Next time I’ll finish that second cup first,👻

Panic is a mechanism that strengthens the gene pool.
Williwaw is quickly able to disern that both lifeboats are still on deck. None of the crewmembers have given up on the ship yet, as it is still i good pretty good condition and hasn't taken in a lot of water. The main threat seems to be the giant octopus, which some people are fighting. Williwaw still has an action left before her turn ends.
The firbolg, carrying in hand only her shield, moves a bit closer to the last tentacle when she raises her hand. After a few gestures and words, a blue-ish white light appears in the palm of her hand before firing itself off towards the last tentacle. (CastingGuiding Bolt)
Attack:5Damage:11 Radiant (If hit, next attack has advantage)
(Edit: That's just tragic. I'll have to wait a little more for my first decent roll.)
(thought the perception might have taken an action sorry)
With the possibility of escape still on the table, Williwaw takes quick stock and attacks the tentacle nearest the port side lifeboat with a thrown dart

The last tentacle falls to the deck with a thud, and is washed into the sea. You feel the ship rising on the sea surface as the octopus releases it's grasp. Captain Ursog cheers, and takes a sip out of his pocket flask. "That was one heck of a fight! Now start bucketing water!"
Once the ship is in a stable condition, you are told to return below deck and try to get some sleep.
"Well, this was interesting start to my career as a freelancer," Grimm states slinging his hand crossbow onto his shoulder before he wanders around on deck just in case before he feel need a few more hours of shut eye.

Unable to sleep after the fight, Nimble wanders the deck. Approaching the Captain, he attempts to strike up a conversation. “Nothing like a bit of excitement, heh? Does this thing happen quite a bit on your journeys?” He is a bundle of questions. “When should we arrive at port? What is your cargo? I myself am a representative of a merchant guild, looking to open up new trade partners” he pats a letter in his pocket “Rare, magical, and unique items bought and sold! Do you know anyone I can speak to at the harbor who may be interested?”
