“I would be up to visit the shop tonight, then. No time like the present, and if we can stop to pick up some supplies for the journey all the better. Just be sure to tally the cost to charge Mr. Tu”
Brandon picks up his warhammer and looks out the window at the growing darkness “and if there is someone lurking about, we can find that out during our walk, instead of being cooped up in the inn. Best to sort that kind of trouble out early”
“We should also consider our travel to Candlekeep. We can try to book passage on a vessel to Waterdeep, or perhaps a cart and some horses for the overland trail. Any thoughts?”
Pointing between the towering 'gnome' and herself, Mara said, "We might not have time to look over each others spells tonight but I'm sure we'll have time when on the road. Now about getting supplies, that would probably be best to wait until daylight where there will be more legitimate businesses open. But speaking of which..."The wizard points to Brandon with a cheeky smile. "Exactly my bearded friend. I personally am not familiar with water travel. I prefer known dangers to unknown and Thom and I are no strangers to travel by horse and carriage. We might be able to convince Mr. Tu to pay for two draft horses, a carriage and food for them and ourselves, as opposed to ponies and horses for all of us. Not sure everyone knows how to ride anyway."Meeting eyes with Arjun (assuming he was following with) and Oberyos.
Oberyos will tag along for the evening activities, but has no specific requests (since the arcane supplies shop is not open at this time).
"I will gladly assist in any errands the party decides, but my help may be limited to being a porter. My experience is limited in matters of travel arrangements or pack animals. Most gnomes are sedentary, only moving to dance on toadstools, or as far as the tinker's workshop. Alas, I have no skills in animal husbandry, unless you count hacking the legs off a Phase Spider with my great sword in the Gnomish Battle Arena."

"I'm sure we won't need to resort into using even such a strong gnome as yourself as a porter." Struggling not to smile too much as she glances at Oberyos but failing when he brought up dancing on toadstools. "A-Ah yes, how could I forget?" Her lungs constricting with held in laughter. But her mirth left her as she heard him say6 that he had hacked off the legs of a phase spider. "Gods... Well that certainly is a talent though not the one we're looking for right at this moment." Gesturing to Thom she asked, "I don't recall you ever having to ride any of the horses or drive the carriages, but do you know how? Or you?"Looking to Brandon.
"I know it's too late to go about trying to purchase any horses or a carriage at this time of night, but figure it's best to know. Or else Brandon's idea of traveling by ship might not be so bad. Regardless, let's hurry up to the Paper Wyrm."
“I don’t have a lot of experience driving wagons and the such, but I do know what end of the horse goes first and could make a go at it. I figure a horse and wagon for the three of us and maybe a separate horse for Thom here to scout ahead as necessary. If you think you are up for that Thom?”
Brandon straps his shield on for the walk to the Paper Wyrm and keeps a hand next to his warhammer. Better safe than sorry, it was getting late and all, and he still had a strange sensation in the pit of his stomach. A premonition from the Soulforger, or indigestion? He couldn’t be sure which, but the gods send messages in strange ways.
"Oberyos, glad to hear you can use that gnomish greatsword if we run into any spiders, keep it handy. Thom keep sharp as well. I still don’t trust those three that left earlier. Better to be on our guard until we are out of the city.”

In agreement on their course of action, the group waste no more time at the Prancing Faun, finishing up the dregs of their mediocre drinks, and each of you gather up onto your person everything that you brought with you, setting out into the streets. The evening isn't dark yet as a little light still creeps across the sky though the sun has dipped below the distant horizon. The light from the moon and street lights gives you more than enough to see by down the main through fares of the city, though every side alley you pass has shadows drawing longer and longer as the balance of light shifts in the time you take to reach the docks. A few wrong turns and the requests for corrections from passers by mean it takes the better part of an hour to traverse the streets. You eventually find yourselves outside the Paper Wyrm, the exterior may look a little ramshackle, but in comparison to the Faun you can tell that the timers are well set and the building is aged but solid.

Your senses have had your back up most of the journey, not seeing anything untowards, but the feeling of being watched has been perpetual. You have been misled by your eyes on more than one occasion during the walk and reach the Paper Wyrm a little weary from the effort. As the party approaches the doorway, another shadow taunts you, and you sense something in the archway of the house opposite.

Brandon & Mara
For as much as Brandon has been jumping at shadows as you all traipse through the streets of NeverWinter, Mara has been able to allay many of his fears and confirm that most of the shadows have been just that. As the group approach the Paper Wyrm, Brandon's sudden tension towards the archway opposite again proves to be his mind playing tricks on him. Mara however re-directs Brandon's attention to a slight glint reflecting off the surface of the nearby window, the lamp light and shutters giving it a slightly mirror-like sheen. From the angles you can both guess it to have been the lamplight reflecting on something deeper in the walkway between the Wyrm and the neighbouring house.
Thom approaches the door, and takes note of thin iron bars across the windows forming a criss-cross lattice that would probably allow an clenched fist through the spaces, but not an object much larger. There is enough visibility through the bars though to still see the contents of the room beyond. It is well lit, allowing you to pick out the numerous shelves all packed full of books in myriad shape, size, and condition. Towards the centre of the room you can see part of a large table, utilised as more storage space - books are stacked up underneath, whilst on top there is some space cleared amidst piles of loose leaf papers, where books lie open at various points.
Trying the door, Thom realises that it is on the latch. There is a small sign, nailed to the inside of the timbers making the frame which had been hidden from site until Thom reached the door. It simply reads 'Open all hours. Knock twice if locked.'
Thom knocks on the door, two short sharp raps that manage to almost sound polite. He waits patiently for a reply...

Brandon remained wary through the walk to the Paper Wyrm, and despite reassurances from Mara and the fact that the shadows remained just shadows, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was just off.
“I know, I know”he grumbled to Mara everytime she pointed out he was seeing things, “but best to not find the trouble you are looking for than to be surprised by that which you are not.”
He was peering intently at the archway across the street when Mara pointed out a reflection from something in the alley next the the bookstore, Squinting his eyes in suspicion, he moves the alley to look for the source of the glinting reflection while Thom knocked on the door.

Nodding at Brandon's explanation, Mara shrugged. "Cry 'wolf' all you like then. Just make sure to keep your eyes peeled for actual dangers and not just imagined ones." It came off a bit more harsh than she meant and she tried to smooth it over by remarking quietly, "I see it too though." Referring to the glint down the alley. Glancing over her shoulder at the still eerily quiet Arjun, the halfling tried to seem like she was merely letting her gaze pass over the alley that Brandon was staring intently at, left hand casually in a pocket, fingering a short piece of copper wire but keeping silent for now.
Focus turning to Thom as he first approached the door, she then becomes interested in what he and Oberyos are tilting their heads to read and so squeezes in between their pairs of legs to try and view the sign herself, reading it over twice with a suspicious expression. "'Knock', huh?" She would wait along with everyone else for about another minute or two, peering at the door and latch before throwing up her hands in caution at Oberyos' words. "Whoa friend I don't think we need to resort to that. Let's just try to 'Knock' again, hm?"
Her smaller hand would raise up to knock at the wood of the door, the first one being relatively soft due to her smaller size and strength but the second would be much much louder as she cast Knock.

Your keen senses seem to have returned now you have something to focus on, your eyes feel fresher and the confined spaces and stonework of the alleyway make you feel more at ease with the surroundings. You sense movement as you approach and step a few paces into the alleyway. It is narrow, space enough for you to walk down squarely but not a lot of room should you wish to swing a weapon. About 20 feet further down, a stack of crates are loosely covered by canvas, buckled straps sway and the uneven lines of the material suggest it is draped over open boxes or other things are stored beneath. The boxes bar the alleyway except for a slim space maybe a foot wide. A rat squeaks and scuttles away from the crates towards you before disappearing down a crack in the wall as the sound of Mara's knock seems to scare it into hiding.
Thom and Oberyos heed Mara's words as she raps on the door and the unexpected burst of sound assaults everyone's ears. Arjun berates the halflings approach, ""Yer silly wench, don't be calling attention our way like that!" as his hand reflexively grip his weapons, and he seems a little more nervous than he was moments before. From the other side of the door, the sound of wood sliding across metal can be heard before a solid thud as something wooden hits the floor, followed moments after by a louder thud. To anyone that has encountered a barred door, it is clear that the spell has removed a wooden bar from its seating.

You sense that whilst your spell has remedied the mundane deterrent for entry, something of an arcane nature still lingers around the door, though it doesn't feel dangerous to you.
After the sound of the knock has finished echoing down the streets, you all notice the odd light flicker into existence in windows that were previously dark. The odd shout to 'keep it down' and that 'people are sleeping' seem in keeping with those that retire early ahead of their trades requiring their early rising, and areas that don't venture into the dark of night too often.
Oberyos will try to open the door, forcefully if it is stuck.
After all, the sign requested that the door be "open all hours".
