NAME: Salamir CLASS /RACE: Rogue (Swashbuckler) / Half Elf BACKGROUND: Salamir grew up among the poor of Baldur's Gate, his family barely earning enough to put food on the table. Seeing how his parents struggled he really wanted to help out, which led to him becoming involved with some less than reputable folk. It started off as a bit of pickpocketing here and there, but these people were not satisfied with such small returns. They had heard about a masked ball that was being thrown in one of the posh houses, and had become aware that a call had gone out for additional servants to bolster the house staff. A number of them managed to con their way into the job, and intended to use the opportunity to steal whatever they could lay their hands on.
An eighteen year old Salamir was one of those present, but it didn’t go as they had hoped. The whole crew were outwitted by a masked party goer who turned out to be a thief catcher, at the party specifically to protect against just such thievery. The thief catcher took pity on the youngster and Salamir learnt three lessons that day. Firstly that this thief catcher got to attend grand functions and mingle with the upper echelons of society. Second that thief catching was a potentially lucrative business, especially when there was no shortage of fools looking to try and earn a quick pouch of gold. Lastly and possibly most importantly, it left a clear conscience.
From then on he worked alongside the thief catcher, building up his own reputation before branching out on his own and looking for a new city to ply his trade.

Full name: Nixi Dimnodder Evangeline Bugstomper "Squirrel" of clan Bindlestiff
Nixi was born to middle-class gnomish parents who were respected jewelers and clockmakers. However, when she was only 10 years old, her parents died in a fire which burned down their home and shoppe. There were whispers that it was arson, perhaps from a dissatisfied customer or rival artisan. Suddenly, Nixi was left without family or means; everything of value had been lost in the fire. She lived on the streets for a time, living off scraps and what she could "borrow" from others. Eventually, a kindly human mage caught her with a few tomes she had pinched from his library. Instead of punishing her, he saw the magical potential, and decided to teach her some magical skills. Nixi studied with him for twelve years, until one day he disappeared without a trace. After waiting for months with no word from her mentor, Nixi set out again, full of sadness and rage at being orphaned a second time.

(Inspired by Mowgli in the Jungle Book) When Rein Ishtveiner was just a child, there was a terrible happenstance which occured in his home. His mother and father were murdered by a robber, and the robber, out of pure evil, branded their child on the forearm with the word Rein. He then put their child, Rein, at the edge of the forest. Rein was found by a family of wild boars who came to this world from the feywild. The mother boar, seeing that the child was all alone, took Rein into her singular (word meaning a group of boars). As the child grew up, he learned the language of the trees, and how to survive and protect his new family. At the age of 14, a hunting party patrolled through the woods. Rein saw these creatures that looked like him, and out of curiosity, tried to spy on them. As they set up their camp for the night, their group's druid senses the presence of a human child. He called up the other hunters, and they found Rein. They bombarded him with questions, but he was unable to answer, for he didn't speak common. His reply was that of squeals and snorts, warning his family to run away, for he had been caught. Instead, his brothers and sisters charged into the camp, killing 5 members of the hunting party. The remaining 7, including the druid, killed the boars, not knowing that they were Rein's family. Upon seeing Rein's crying, the druid immediately realized what they had done. He took Rein under his wing, adopting him. This is how the boar child came to have the name Rein Ishtveiner. Rein's adoptive father passed away shortly after teaching Rein how to speak. Rein now travels the world as an adventurer, letting his curiosity take him wherever it may. This time, his curiosity takes him to Tunaster Dranik's call, taking him to the Wyvern Watch Inn. - YOUR TIME ZONE (Where you from?): U.S. East Coast - YOUR D&D/PBP EXPERIENCE (Got experience?): Only played 2 campaigns.
