Mina happily joins the table of half-elves and brightens when the man asks about her commune, "Why yes! I am, though I haven't been back there in several years. It is good to be back in Drynna, though I do wish it was under better circumstances." She takes a drink of her ale, "We are not here to recruit, just see if there is any information to be gathered. Especially since we're outsiders, I feel we have a lot to learn. Such as, over the last week, have there been disappearances each night? Do any of you have any information on this fog or know anything that might, say, raise an eyebrow?"
Balefire is clearly engaged with the hooded new comer to the tavern and has walk away from Lancelin.
How would Lancelin get Balefire's attention again.
At the tables....
Belkris gets a chuckle from the dwarven woman who picks up a card before she begins to answer him.
"Seems odd it comes and folks go missing. Can't say I've ever heard of such a thing," the dwarven woman explains. "I'm Olena Everdawn by the way," she introduces herself witha toothy smile. "This is my brother Horace," she gestures at the male dwarf who's similar to her coloring but stouter in his build, "and our partner in the forge Davis Cottonwood," she gestures at the human woman at the table who has dark skin and dreadlocks piled atop her head in a bun. "We're in bed before dark and up at dawn most days. It's all but burned off by the time we can see it," she adds. "Speaking of which," she pauses to check a time piece in her pocket, "about one more game is all we've got time for," she explains.
Neither Horace nor Davis contradict her however they just nod, drink their ales, and take a card.
Olena, Horace, Davis (quoted actual rolls below; the editor always fudges them up)
Olena bets 3 silver. While Horace and Davis only see her bet but do not raise it.
Mina sits and the half-elves begin to chsy.
"The disappearances people say happen ever night yes but I don't know how many or even who's gone missing," the dark haired male half-elf replies. "We...keep to ourselves mostly," the half-elf gestures at himself and Mina as the other two nod.
"People say the fog comes that stinking bog but I know I haven't been outside this tavern to track it down when it does come in," the other male half-elf adds with a slight shudder, he's lithe and graceful with honey blonde hair and bright blue eyes.
"How much are they paying you lot to do those Wardens job," the only female half-elf asks Mina her tone annoyed. She looks at Mina with a cocked narrow eyebrow split in two by a jagged scar. She has cropped brown hair and olivetone skin. "I bet more than what they paid us on the gaurd," she says smirking as her male companions mutter in agreement awaiting Mina's answer.
Kerri finally takes up her empty mug, slowly stands, and wanders over to the bar next to Lancelin. She signs briefly to him then looks over at the tieflng and the newcomer that he is so interested in. She taps the cup against the bar.
Lancelin would try to get Balefire's attention by waiting for him to finish with the hooded newcomer and then try to get eye contact, making a motion with his hand if that doesn't suffice and starting to hold up a gold coin if all else fails. Lancelin would also try to determine if the tiefling has been truthful about his answers. Lancelin would also try to discreetly peek over to catch a glimpse of the face of the hooded man by the bar.
As Kerri joins him by the bar he gives her a tired smile making some quick signs, motioning towards the tiefling.
Mae gives Nix a sympathetic look. "Let me do the set with them and then we can all go and settle the grievances, all right?"Mae would then turn to the musicians with a smile and pulls out her lute, taking up a spot close to them and joining them after they get going. However, once the group got going she would close her eyes, getting into the performance, and then reach out with her mind to see if there was obvious being thought of that she might be alerted to, starting with the musicians and then, as she had time, she would try to check the surface thoughts of those engaged with the other members of her party. She would not try to focus on any member of her party, or Nix.
Mina listens to the half-elves as they tell her the little that they know, when it switches to the mention of reward it takes her by surprise. "We're here to help, are we not? I find it unfortunate that outside help wasn't asked for until one of the Ward went missing, but it is what it is. Once I heard what was happening here, I came for that, not the reward money. Not everyone is greedy." she takes a deep breath not wanting this discussion to dive into money. "Thank you for the info, do you know who would be a good person to interview?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Olena 4,1 concedes to Belkris.
Horace 1,4; folds
Davis 5,3; folds
"Best of luck Belkris," Olena says pushing the 12 silver to Belkris. "If you or your companions need any mending of weapons or armor come to the forge. We're west of the North gate off Grove Street. It's the only stone building on the road, " she adds offering her hand to Belkris to shake.
At the table of half-elves...
"Probably the watch," the dark haired male half-elf replies. "We were at the south tower. Nothing ever happens that far from the lake," he adds. "I'm not quiet sure who really to single out. Everyone brags they've seen things but I doubt they really have," he adds.
Just then Balefire mounts a chair the hooded figure remains by his side.
"Friends old and new, sunset is upon us once again and as is the new law of the land you must shelter in place or return home quickly before sunsets proper. As we don't provide rooms I ask all here to enjoy one more round quickly," he gestures at the clock, "and say your goodbyes. It's been a lovely evening as always. Here at the Black Flagon we do greatly appreciate your patronage," the tiefling adds bowing dramatically before hopping off the chair.
Balefire then makes a b-line for the front door as the hooded figure goes behind the bar and the human male server begins to pull the last of the pony keg into tankards.
After the last round of betting Belkris looks at each of the card players left. Feeling confident he starts tapping his talons feet softly on the floor. He reveals his hand when its called for. "Well thank you for letting me join you for a round. Its been nice meeting each of you."
With his winning hand Belkris happily takes the winnings. He then stands "Beginners luck I am sure."He looks to his companions. His head cocks to the left and right. I hope they found a clue, but I don't want to disturb them. Finally making up his mind he waves to get his companion's attention and gestures that he will be by the entrance.
Once again he weaves his way through the patrons and leans against the wall next to the entrance.
Doc answers the hafling as he looks around, not much seems to be happening here, none of his companions seem to have made progress or he would have assumed they would have called a gather by now. Hopefully they will soon get a better understanding of what is happening.
""Ah sounds nice, what kind of constructs are here in this town that need fixing? Have you been here during the times with the missings? Did you notice anything?"

"Be safe," Olena says to Belkris as Horace nods in agreement.
"It's about a hour and a half to sundown," Davis says to Belkris putting up their hood. "Best be where you're staying before the fog rolls in," they caution.
At the table with Doc...
"There's an old wizard with the only magic shop in town has a shield golum," the halfling answers but doesn't elaborate. "I'm Holiday by the way," she beams at Doc. "It's certainly nothing to you," she adds to Doc.

Mina nods as the half-elf tries their best to answer her question. As Balefire makes his announcement, she notices the hooded figure by his side. She watches as Balefire leaves and the hooded figure goes behind the bar. Hoping to satiate her curiosity, she thanks those at the table she is at and makes her leave heading back towards the bar. She does notice that her companions seem to be ready to leave as well, but she wants to know more about the one behind the bar, and she goes to flag them down.
"Excuse me? I know it is time to go, but well, you caught my eye..." and she smiles waiting to hear what they say to that.

Belkris nods and places the 2 silver down "Alright deal me in." He sits down with the other card players.

Belkris will call after a round of betting "On the way in I heard some rumors of a strange fog. What is that about?"
