Backstory: Orphaned at a young age, Balro learned to survive on his own in Cliffgrave. His ability as a thief first drew attention of the Shadow Guild where he improved his thieving skills. As friction seem to be building in Cleica and Espar, Balro was recruited by the Faceless ones, an intelligence and assassination element for the Lady Ravagella Amastacia. Balro's skills so impressed the masters of the Faceless ones, he became one of their key agents for the collection of information, silent assassinations, and the removal of threats.
Backstory: Born to an Elf father and Human mother in the city of Cloudgate, it was was apparent at birth something was wrong. Instead of the pale elf toned skin or pinkish human, his flesh had a faint blue tone. As he grew, scales developed over part of his body. He was different, and he had no answer from his parents. They avoided the issue but always seemed distant or sad. He dreamed often, of a desert place and lightening. Perhaps somewhere in Espar the desert kingdom. A faint calling to him. As he grew, he spent less time with his parent, and more with his uncle on his mothers side, a rough ranger known to hunt criminals. He found purpose here, and began to stay with his uncle more and more and helping him with his work. When his magic came, he kept it from his parents, and used it to help with his uncles hunting business. But always, there was a call of the desert. fearful. Dangerous. A dragon waited.

Name: Nicolas de Brézé
Race: Half-elf
Class/subclass: Fighter (Battle Master)
Background: Noble
Alignment: LG
Backstory:
Nico is pissed.
Life was just fine as it was, thank you very much. His House, while minor, was rising in both influence and respect in Cliffgrave. Crop yields in the House's lands were up and trade was flourishing, which meant more revenue. His star was rising. Then his life was rudely interrupted...by a god.
Tyr (or his equivalent in this Dedreria) appeared to him. Nico didn't really care for Tyr, but a distant cousin on his mother's side has forsworn her oaths as a paladin of Tyr a couple of decades back, so the family owed him one. Tyr decided to "call in a favor" and, through a vision, sent Nico to protect someone "for a year and a day."
Just a couple of weeks ago, Tyr showed Nico the person he'd chosen. Now [whichever party member the DM chooses] has a reluctant (and a bit resentful) guardian. (That character's player is welcome to describe how the two met - and, of course, their character's opinion of the arrangement.)
Backstory: Phalanx was built a long time ago to act as a bodyguard for his creator, an eminent wizard. He spent some time traveling with his creator. But eventually, when his services were no longer needed, he was deactivated and then sold to an ancestor of the Stoneclaw family. Now, with one of the Stoneclaw heir in peril, the construct has been reactivated to find and rescue his new master.
Class: Sorcerer (Draconic, Red Dragon) (respecced him from my initial Paladin idea)
Background: Acolyte
Alignment: Neutral Good
Backstory: Of my life before change, I do not know. Perhaps I was a goblin. Perhaps I was a bugbear, although my muscles or lack thereof would suggest that not to be the case. But what I do know is that when I awoke in Wintercall on that day and saw my new Verdan form, my life began anew. Wintercall was a foreign place to me now and so I packed up what little I owned and set out to make a new life in Cloudgate. Less crowded than what I was used to, I looked forward to finding a new pace of life... until a thug robbed me of my possessions 10 minutes later. But fortunately for me I was able to find refuge at a shrine and went on to become an acolyte. There I found beauty in the life of the priests and others and decided to try following in their footsteps. However, despite my efforts, I could never satisfy the requirements to be a priest of the shrine. I'd forget elements of rituals, misquote the sacred texts, and other issues. But the clergy of the shrine didn't give up on me. Throughout the various physical I'd undergo (go to bed with small ears, wake up with large ones; have a birthmark on the right cheek on Sunday, it's moved to the left palm by Saturday; start the Spring with grey skin, end the Fall with green skin; etc) one thing remained constant: patches of scales, particular on my bald head. And so with instruction I was able to explore this draconic heritage and learn the ways of sorcery with an affinity for the flames. And after the past week of growing pains that have put my stature from 2' 4" to 4' 2" I've decided that perhaps it's time for me to leave the grounds of the shrine and do some good in the world.
For the ability scores I just used the rolls from the character builder. Is that fine by you or would you prefer to have an in-thread set of rolls like others have been doing?
I'm use to doing it in-thread but I'm okay with people using the character builder's rolling if they would prefer to, as long they aren't all extremely high. {Like if all the scores are 15 or higher before ASI is applied.}

Backstory:
Veron is a reformed burglar. He uses his skill set to help the law-abiding merchants of Cliffgrave protect their property from...well, people like him. And when business is slow, he uses his skill set to inflate demand. Okay, so he's not *completely* reformed.
Veron knows, though, that the real money is in letters, not in coins. To get to that level, he needs to up his game - and he's looking for the opportunity to do just that.

I have an idea for a character… let’s roll abilities first.
Ability scores: 15916121513
Bizarre! I did not edit or modify my post, I have no idea why this was marked this way. I can use point buy or standard array if you want, or reroll if you wish.
No worries, it's all cool. If you wanted to you could use standard array, or you could reroll and if the results are not to your liking or that message pops back up then... point buy could work.
Ludolf grew up always near a library, he had a quick wit and capacity for learning by sight, remembering numbers and discerning patterns. He loved literature and a good mystery. He learned from an early age the value of books and the power contained within. What grew over time was a profound love of books. Not just a passing fancy, or a quick consumption of a page turner, but a voracious appetite for books. Ludolf learned that books for him would actually produce effects, give him actual power by reciting the words, imagining it in his mind. So, when he found another old, crinkly tomb that had a wonderful musty smell to it, he poured himself into it.
He is from Cloudgate and the wizard that he has been serving his apprenticeship under, a rather imperious high elf named Ulitree, knows Sir Nikolas Stoneclaw. When Ulitree was asked for help in the investigation of the possible murder of Basil, Ulitree suggested and sent his understudy Ludolf to go investigate. Ludolf has a penchant for mysteries, for solving problems, and he knew that he would represent him well.
In appearance, he is 35 years old, appears older than his stated age, already graying at the tips of his hair. He smokes a pipe and delights in a well snifted cognac, book in hand. His favorite book, his spell book, seems to be awakening to him, giving him more power than he ever predicted or dreamed of.
Story : At home in the forests of the wild. Mildly tolerates towns and detests caves and underground habitats. Separated from family at a young age during orc raids. Lives a solitary life and was given the Common name, McColClough.
Backstory: Was part of a bandit group with her older sister, Clover, that set up in the forests of Cleica where they would ambush travellers. During an attempted ambush they tried to rob two travellers who turned out to be bounty hunters with more waiting to ambush the bandits. Almost every bandit was caught except the leader. The bandits with the lower bounties were told that if they helped them catch their leader they would let them go, the only one that agreed was Clover. The rest were turned in, Lily was able to work off her bounty and started work as a mercenary.

Thanks for the answer on the score rolling, Victor.
Also a couple questions for character settings.
Milestone or XP levelling?
Are we using encumberance?
And should Ignore Coin Weight be on or off?
