Mythe raises her eyebrows at the others as they return, noting the change in Vera's apperance as she scrutinizes their expressions. "So? What did you see?"
"Oh goodness!" Hin jumps a little when Vera screams. When she rushes out of the tower, she can only stand and stare. "What happened? Did something happen to Zodiac? Did you get a good look at the monster? Was it a dragon? Something else? Did you see any of the professors looking around?" She doesn't expect all of her questions to be answered, but she asks them anyways. "I think I might go outside, if only to take a peek. Sierra, can I borrow that spyglass?"

Vera is overwhelmed by the various types and numbers of questions directed at her from different people simultaneously. As a result, she's unable to answer any of these questions for awhile.
"I could not see much of the outside since Zodiac does not.. er.. did not have darkvision. Besides, only one of my eyes is capable of processing incoming psychic rays."
She seems disheartened for some unknown reason but continues to speak, "If we can target the creature with some sort of spell like faerie fire, then it will be unable to maintain a camouflage. Perhaps, I can summon Zodiac as an owl to take a better look around."
"Hmm, did I forget to answer any other questions?"
She takes off her hat and scratches her head for a moment, pondering, before saying, "I think I can actually get a better look. Hin, if you don't see anything with the spyglass I'll resummon it in my hands."
Sierra rubs a small box on her buckler and mutters a few words as gecko pads grow on her boots.
She begins climbing up the tower wall as quietly as she can, meanwhile trying to scope out any sign of the monster. If Hin doesn't see anything, she'll resummon her spyglass and look for it that way.

Sierra, you begin climbing up the side of this tower. While waiting for Hin to confirm if she needs the magical spyglass or not, you look around from a much better vantage point before you feel the wind pick up and brush over you as this massive, slender and long draconic creature flies just barely over head of you. It's completely silent as it flies. If it wasn't for the wind picking up and brushing against you, you wouldn't have even noticed it.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hin nods as Vera explains the situation, then takes Sierra's spyglass with an appreciative smile. "I'll let you know what I find."
She pockets the spyglass and takes another book off the table---her spellbook. She opens the book to a specifically marked page and mutters what is written. She blinks and her eyes go stark white. (Cast Detect Magic)
She steps out the front door of the tower, making sure to only stay a few paces' away from the door in case she has to go back inside. Pulling the spyglass opens she aims it at the sky.
(Trying to see if there's something magical about the draconic figure---if Hin can see it at all.)

(OOC: That is a very interesting way on how to use detect magic and a spyglass. I'll allow it to work this time, because it's neat, but technically it doesn't work that way, so future attempts to do so will likely fail)
Hin you cast detect magic and the tower behind you begins to glow, confirming it's magical in some way. The spyglass, which was already shedding 5 feet of dim light begins to glow as well. It was magically created though, so it's pretty easy to assume it was magical. You search around the sky looking for this monstrous creature and it's not until it flies directly overhead that you spot it. It flew very low, just hardly over the top of your tower. The dragon doesn't appear to be magical. It's not an illusion or anything like that, according to your detect magic.
Searching over the draconic creature as it flew directly over your head Sierra, the biggest inconsistency with this dragon versus the depictions and statues of dragons you've seen is that it's so long and slender. Depictions of dragons you're use to are in fact usually pretty long, but they're large with wide stances, like a bear. This is more of a snake. Very long and slender.
I rolled a natural 18 for the WIS save against the grovel command, Sierra. (rolled in game log on Sierra's sheet)
Sierra, you're unsure if the creature was able to resist your command, or if perhaps it doesn't speak/understand the language you commanded it in, but it continued to fly through the sky, temporarily disappearing against the night sky before reappearing near the observatory and disappearing again behind it.
A few moments go by and it never reappears from behind the observatory building.
(OOC: I know Mythe is still inside the tower, and Iridh I think you went back inside? What are the two of you up to while you're inside?)
With a defeated sigh, Hin walks back inside the tower and snaps the spyglass shut. "Either I'm not using Detect Magic correctly, or there is absolutely nothing remotely magical about this dragon... thing." She steps inside just in time to hear Sierra's suggestion on what to do next, and replies while handing her back the spyglass, "Capital idea!! Ah, but sneakily, I hope; Professor Maz did tell me directly to stay in the tower. I wouldn't want to go against his wishes." She pauses, tapping her chin as small grin spreads across her face. "At least I wouldn't want to get caught doing so."

Pondering over the monstrous dragon you saw, Iridh, you manage to recall something about an ancient type of dragons, that are believed to be extinct. They were known as primordial dragons and they were very slender and serpentine-like, similar to the one you just saw, except they were brightly colored, and not shadowy and nearly invisible like this one.
Iridh mentally files this information for later use, in the meantime, he checks on Vera to make sure she's holding up well after Zodiac's death, though not entirely sure how to handle the situation.

“Oh no, oh no, oh no, no, no.” Hin waves a small finger in Sierra’s direction, tsking. “I’m coming with you. Give me a few seconds to get ready.” She dashes up the stairs, and two minutes later a different figure comes rushing down the steps in her place. Pitch black fur shines under the light and the clacking sound of claws hitting the floor fills the room as he bolts out the door, spellbook in hand. A strange and unfamiliar voice comes from his mouth as he catches up to the human, “Alright, Sierra. Let’s figure out what exactly is going on here.” He stops, hands on his knees as he tries to catch his breath. “By the way, I’m still Hin. I'm a changeling. That scruffy little dwarf back in the tower? Still me. Just so we’re clear.”
Once his heart is out of his ears, he sneaks back up to Sierra’s position and matches her pace. He’s wearing new clothes, the pants and shirt he had on a few minutes ago would not have fit his now tall and bulky build. A navy collared cloak with black hems conceals most of his body, and underneath he wears a red vest over a white button down undershirt, with the sleeves rolled up. Simple navy trousers balloon at his knees, and the rest is bare. Calo---now a frightened shade of black---clings to the bars of the necklace he wears, and his academy brooch is pinned to the collar of his cloak. Under the cloak he has his normal set of pouches and belts slung across his hips. He scans the surrounding area for any faculty, students, and anyone else out of the ordinary. If he finds someone, he will pull Sierra down to the nearest cover until the coast is clear as they reach the back of the observatory.
