Moving as quickly as possible while trying to go unnoticed, the group exits the house and moves along to the east side, disappearing into the brush heavy woods with the children in tow. It's not easy moving through the woods, as vines, bushes, and other plants are thick enough to require cutting through to get past. By the time your party emerges on the other side, sticking within the treeline for now, darkness has almost completely fallen on the town of Greenest. Smoke fills the air, punctuated by the orange glow of burning buildings.
The keep rises above you, sitting atop a hill about 200 feet to the east. You don't see anyone blocking this direct path, but the path up the hill doesn't provide much in the way of cover. The main road to the keep leading to the gate is about 100 feet north of your position. You can make out groups of figures on the road, and several scattered groups fighting in the fields surrounding the road.
In the skies above, the darkness combined with the smoke make it impossible to make out the dragon's position, but you haven't heard its roars or the clap of thunder since witnessing its attack on the keep.
Aryniel takes a moment to analyze the path, then nods and turns to the others "We make it straight to the gate, we can't risk the young ones. If we do it and we can lend a hand to those fighting out there..." she points to the groups on the fields on each side of the road, "so be it, but only after the children are inside the keep." briefly waiting for comments, the elf proceeds to get into position for the sprint, "Stay close and keep to the shadows."
Alkyn nods, "Aye. Try to keep to the shadows, if you can." He looks at the children, wondering of they will manage to remain quiet. "Stay near and out of harms way, until you are told to run to run," he says to the oldest of them before his gaze rakes across them all.
Adem readies his quarterstaff, eyeing the groups fighting around the road to the gate. "I'll keep an eye on our rear." When they make their move, he'll make sure to stay behind the children so they're in his sight when he's looking forward, occasionally checking behind them to make sure no one is chasing them.
I keep close to the children. I stay in the middle and cast Blessing of the Trickster on the youngest of the children. I try to keep them closest to the wall. I smile to them, "Almost there. Doing a great job!"
