Background: The last of his tribe Vreen is a spacefaring wanderer. After taking leave of his job as a deckhand Vreen made port on the island of Nimbral. Perhaps some clue as to the ruination of his homeworld can be found here on Faerun. And even if that proves to be fruitless no doubt other intrigues await.
Personality: Ever the outsider Vreen is inscrutable and resourceful.
My play style: I like to roleplay my character. I like to figure out their motivation and then do my best to embody their actions and reactions. I also like well described action scenes both combat and noncombat.
Name: Tama Yaque Race: Wood Elf Class: Fighter-Eventually subclassing as a gunslinger
Background in brief: Tama was once a part of a guerilla squad for the empire. During a strike mission one of their party was captured, tortured and told everything. The group was disavowed by the empire and turned over to the enemy. When guards came to take the group away they fought for their freedom, to her knowledge only Tama escaped. Snuck home and retrieved her weapons before disappearing and becoming a hired gun. Eventually met her wife, a dwarf while getting a scope for her rifle. Settled down to raise a family happily until the dragons attacked. Her wife and adopted daughter were killed when the dragons attacked.
Personality: Tama is seeking revenge on the dragons that took her family from her while working through her own grief.
My play style: I play as my character doing my best to act them as they would behave. I enjoy a mix of combat and roleplay to the point of roleplaying my combat. I’ve been playing D&D for a few years, primarily as a DM but getting to play as a pc here and there. I like to follow the story and go where it brings me. I’m in the eastern time zone, I’m an early riser typically up by 5am est. My job allows for frequent check-ins so I will be able to keep up with any pace.
Torn between posting my Changeling Cleric or my Halfling Rogue......gonna go with the rogue, but happy to change if needed
Name: Tru Race: Halfling Class: Rogue
Intro: The halfling woke up in a storm drain around the age of 7 and found herself looking into the beady black eyes of a mouse. She had no memory of anything earlier than that moment, she doesn’t even know how old she is. Even her name, she gave to herself. Tru….just Tru.
Tru (and her little mouse friend) live on the streets, begging and stealing to survive. One day as she roamed the alleys – her domain – Tru smelled freshly baked bread and made her way into a backyard. She saw a loaf through an open window and couldn’t resist trying to steal it. She was caught by Mathilda, the owner of the premises. Mathilda gave her a slice of bread, spread thickly with butter. She took her in, letting her sleep on a makeshift bed on the floor in the kitchen. Mathilda was a ‘madam’ and the building a brothel. Tru lived there for several years, stealing from the customers for Mathilda as she served food and drinks to them.
Skip forward 12 years and Tru is about 19-20 years old now.
I love RP in text-based games (I struggle a bit with it in my IRL game) and I really feel connected to my characters and enjoy developing them and their relationships with the other characters. I also enjoy combat and dungeon crawling (although puzzles are not my strong suit). PbP works really well for me because I am in Australia. Please don't let my location put you off, I can commit to posting at least once per day. I'm familiar with Discord and Avrae. I haven't played on the forums, but I guess it's pretty straightforward
Short intro- Know as Bob the baker in the town he works, he is seen as a friendly face, one the people of his town can turn too in moments of need. His large stature makes him known as a gentle giant, and is always jumps to protect his friends and the town he lives in. Being 56 years of age means he has a lot of experience, however having not picked his hammer up for the last 10 year means that his skills are rusty. As an optimistic, he always greets with a smile on his face despite his tragic backstory of losing his wife and daughter to whom he vowed to only pick up his hammer against the threat of evil or protecting those he loves. 56 years old, standing at 6'4, 240lbps, brown eyes, bald head and sports a huge classic greying brown moustache.
Play Style- I'm up for anything, as I love both combat and roleplaying. Enjoy the idea of building a strong story line and working together through it. Everyone's there to enjoy in whatever way they want and I'm all for playing along and getting involved, as a team player.
Bairne of the Ironfoot, or Baby Ironfoot, was raised by many, many parents and none at all.
His father had been taken in a mining accident just weeks before Bairn’s birth.
His mother died on his birthday. A victim of a bad labor.
But there he was, nonetheless, a baby boy. A bairn. Nameless and fatherless. And, as is their way, it fell on the clan to be his parents. And they fed him and they clothed him and tried to raise him right. But you know what they say about too many cooks…
They called him the bairn. And the name stuck. He became Bairne Ironfoot. Mischievous and endearing.
He is rambunctious youth. His beard still thin. With no father to teach him a skill. No benefactor to finance an apprenticeship. No longer young enough for charity. No place in his clan.
So, along now comes Bairne Ironfoot.
Axe in hand.
I like a mix of role RP, combat and some puzzle solving mixed in as well.
I particularly like the PBP format. The writing is a lot of fun for me.
Im in the Eastern US time zone.
I’ve been playing DND off and in since it came out in the 70s. I have lots of time for posting.
Class: Level 1 Druid (what level should we start at?)
Araroris goes by Ris, was a soldier/mercenary (should it be mercenary?) at one point, and doesn't have respect for people who can't/won't fight. Also, she has PTSD.
My preferred play style is probably role play governed by dice/rules, and house/thread/DM rules overrule book rules.
I'm a new (to D&D, not to TTRPGs) player. I can post almost every day (definitely not on Sundays, maybe not on Saturdays.) I also live in the Eastern US time zone.
Name: Doc Race: Warforged Class: Cleric (Life) Description/Backstory:Doc has been build by an artificer for a noble elven family. His sole purpose was to protect, heal, help the family elders when they were sick, wounded or if any thiefs/robbers would show up at the house. A couple of weeks a go the elders died and Doc's purpose was gone. The younger once of the family weren't sure what to do with him, and in the end decided to tell him he was free to go were he liked. So Doc left the Elven city to find a new purpose or way of life so to say.
Me: I like both RP situations and combat, always nice when not every situation you encounter with enemies needs to be resolved by combat. No problem with not always using RAW (or even RAI) but it is nice to at least no upfront when something will be handled differently from what one might expect.
"grandpa" Salkur, deep gnome artificer/sorcerer: Spiderwrangler's Forged in Chaos | Pepin, Human Artificer/cleric: Goblin horde | Mixtli, Volcano Genasi Artificer: Champions of the Citadel
@secretfool, you're absolutely correct about managing expectations. I don't immediately have any house rules, so nothing obvious to coordinate.
What I'm getting at is if a character has a really good scene and they want to use Acrobatics instead of the more straightforward Athletics to scale a wall and they can explain how that looks, I'm ready to allow that because I think everyone has a better game that way.
Thank you for pointing that out and allowing me to explain.

Myself & Play Style: 40+ He/him with Kids, so PbP is a cool way to stay connected with DnD. Started to play with my Uni friends 20y ago and really enjoying playing again. I like action and a good story, I'm ok with a little bit of rp (but not 3 pages of text). I'd like to play a rogue but I'm cool to switch to something else if needed. All good with Discord for OOC and chat (EU timezone).
Name: Fang of the Green Snake (Fang) Race: Tabaxi - Male, Black Fur, yellow eyes. Class: Rogue (probably going toward Phantom) Introduction: Fang arrived in the Sword Coast with his parents more than 20 years ago. He grew found of this place and, due to his talents , he was recruited by the Harpers - a secret group trying to keep power in balance. Fang was send to infiltrate the Cult of the Dragon. All was going well until one night where he got caught reading the important documents of [insert name], his/her superior. Everything went down quickly, he remembers a blade going though his back and being dumped in a cemetery, bleeding to death, literally. Strangely, he woke up 2 days later outside of the city with his wound completely healed. He has no clue on who to thank for, but one thing is clear though: he will have his revenge.
Not entirely sure but I could see the dracolich Dragotha being the one who revived me (via one of her follower) since she confronted Tiamat and was banned from Avernus. She would like me to help thwarting Tiamat plan's. That means I could see my rogue take maybe 1 -3 level of Warlock Undead.
Intro: Vallan comes from a small Halfling Village; his family defending the village for generations. During a stormy night Vallan began to have nightmares of dragons! Waking in a cold sweat he swore he would do everything he could to prevent the apocalypse and so he set out to find those he could fight alongside with.
Vallan is a quiet folk but when he’s upset he can throw down with the best of em. Vallan stands about 3’8 and very lean in built.

Character name: Daardardrein Abaddon, just Abaddon Race: Dragonborn Class: Paladin (Conquest)
Me and my playstyle: 33 year old lad from East Yorkshire. Started playing years ago on both sides of the screen but we just couldn't keep a party together. I like ingame conflict, combat and roleplay. PbP is seeming more and more likely the best way for me to get a game in and I'm very keen to do that.
Abaddon the Black, red Dragonborn Paladin of Conquest. He is ill-tempered, forceful and demanding man who has a vendetta against the Cult of the Dragon. He sees himself as a Talon of Tiamat - an executioner; whose role is to weed out the corruption within the church of Tiamat and excise the wound (kill them), clean out the puss (their supporters), so that the chromatic dragons may grow stronger. He has made it very clear on many occasions that it was by the Grace of Tiamat that they were spared (he has acted of behalf of his dragon Queen to save numourous peoples).
He is convinced that the Cult of the Dragon has manipulated Tiamat, and seeks to do her harm in some fashion and is on a quest to find evidence of his beliefs. He does not believe they have suddenly changed their tune, and holds a massive grudge against them for having corrupted the Dark Queens children for centuries and transforming them into undead abominations (Dracoliches).
He aspires to join the fabled order of the Knights of the Five-Thorned Rose, an elite band of crusaders who hunt followers of Bahamut. In order to gain the attention of the Knights, he intends on proving that the Cult of the Dragon are looking to corrupt Tiamat in some way, destroy them, and then take his arms against Bahamut.

Character: Wilberforce
Race: Halfling
Class: Druid level 1
Background: Wilberforce was taken by slavers at a young age, when the rest of his town was murdered. He then spent 30 years working as a slave, alongside goblin slaves, until he gained the chance to escape to a forest while travelling to a new mining camp. We lived in the forest for years and eventually developed his druidic skills. He is generally light hearted and positive, any situation is better than being a slave. Having been property himself he doesn't really believe in ownership and is just as likely to take something as give it away. He lacks any formal education and is largely uninterested in politics. He worships Sheela Peryroyl and is always looking for the joy in things; however he can become irrational when it comes to slavers. Having lived most of his life alongside goblin slaves he is hesitant to attack them unless warranted.
I also has a Rock Gnome Sorcerer if that is more useful, as I note a lot of Druids on the thread.
Character: Chester Stage
Race: Rock Gnome
Class: Sorcerer (Copper Dragon Bloodline) Lvl 1
Background: The child of dedicated fighters Chester was an oddity who was more interested in mixing potions and how things worked. He was especially drawn to acids at an early age, which his adventuring parents did their best to support. He joined the Alchemist Guild and spent many happy years researching his craft, but never excelling. One day his sorcery asserted itself when a mage hand appeared and allowed him to reach a tome from a high shelf. Now brimming with a new found sense of power and an odd sense of destiny he has gone out into the world to help others, prove himself to his guild and maybe find information on his copper dragon ancestry. Small, even for a Gnome, he is looking for more robust companions who can support his adventures while he offers advice from the rear.

As an expositor of the cobalt soul it is his mission to obtain and extract secrets and information from targets by any means necessary. Trained in the art of espionage Kriv hides in plain sight, and vanishes without a trace.

Hey, everyone. Thanks for your submissions; it has been inspiring.

I will read through and choose the players (and characters) tonight and tomorrow, and i will post the post the list here.
Additionally, i will reach out to each of you with detailed information about how to progress from here.
Best,

Hi, everyone.
Respecting the privacy of the players that I chose, I have changed my mind on posting a list of players here. But all the players that we need for now have been chosen and have accepted. I have changed the tag of the campaign to private.
Thanks 🤝
Have a great adventure guys!
