Basic backstory: Ghurk Bra'kathu began life in his rather large bugbear tribe, consisting of around 26 bugbears. He was raised in the harsh manner classic to all bugbears. He was punished when he wasn't good enough, so he made sure that he would always be the best. He excelled at many aspects of, well, being a bugbear. He was a strong fighter, and he was undefeated in his tribe. His tribe eventually merged with a larger clan, consisting of hundreds of bugbears. He was a soldier in the clan's army, like so many others. He was tough, and resilient, and his company was always chosen for the toughest jobs. One day, however, his company bit off more than they could chew. They raided a military outpost; little did they know, it was a trap. One by one his comrades fell, until Ghurk was the last one standing. He continued to fight but eventually, he too was defeated. However, the captain of the ambushers told his soldiers to capture the bugbear, for he recognized that Ghurk was easily the strongest. They hauled him off to a dungeon, but within just a week, he managed to escape. He broke his bonds and surprised everybody by attacking the enemies who dared to capture him, rather than running away. In the end, he managed to escape. He managed to get his hands on some equipment, and decided to become an adventurer, pursuing an exciting, danger filled life which would allow him to hone his abilities. When he heard about this whole "Pearl Defender" thing, he decided that it would probably be cool so he embraced the role and the danger it might bring.
This character seems very well thought out! Best backstory so far.
Backstory. Olin was left on the streets as a child, and when he found 3 Kobolds (Zik, Mirn, and Gad), they teamed up to survive! Olin ended up being a good leader to them, and eventually became their boss. The first thing that they stole was a Lute from a traveling minstrel! He then learned how to play it and took to street performing while the Kobolds pick-pocketed his audiences, so they gained more than he played for! He traveled, doing this for many years, learning the ways of the bard along the way! Also, since he was changeling, he could change his appearance everywhere he went as to make him hard to track! One day, he attempted to do his usual scheme at Pearl Village, when he actually got caught be the kings guards! Olin got arrested when his lackies escaped! He was in prison for a few months. When the king was looking for his soon to be "pearl defenders", he remembered the skills that Olin has, for he tried to use magic to escape the guards before his arrest. Olin also had a reputation for being a skilled thief! They decided to let Olin go, as long as he embarked on his quest! The King'd have the rest of the party keep an eye on Olin, just in case (if you'd want, DM) They also gave Olin back his things, and only the money he actually earned through his performances (Starting equipment/gold)
Optional Info:
Your character's personality. (Think similar to Loki from Marvel)
Your main attack style. Weapons, tactics, etc. Likes to use charm, and deceit to get his way, so he likes to use enchantment spells, and spells in general.
My favorite Donuts are and that are dairy free (Lactose intolerance is dumb, ik.)
What do you want us to do for ability scores?
This character will add some entertainment to the party. Theifs are always fun.
Yes, a combination you don't usually see. Interesting character. I can't guarantee anything (because who knows how the next entrees will be), but right now I'm thinking your character might make it in. Ghurk the bugbear also might make it in, I like his backstory. And I love Coral's class, creative homebrew.
Backstory: His father left him as a child, and his mother trained him and his twin brother to grow up as honest, respectful, modern people, but Thuronur wasn't a good listener. He was the town troublemaker and when something malicious happened, fingers were pointed at him. Thuronur taught himself how to handle a sword and how to defend himself.
After his brother's life took a turn and he killed their mother and then blamed it on him, Thuronur spent 15 years in prison. Ready for a fresh life, Thuronur went town to town looking for an occupation. Due to his criminal record, he had no luck. He came across Pearl Village, which didn't have any interesting job options but stayed for a rest. What he didn't realize was that he was getting himself into one of the most thrilling experiences of his life. On the day he was planning to leave, Thuronur was eating in a cafe when a man walked by and slipped a note after reading it, he decided that maybe he would stay.
Personality: Thuronur is a doubtful and disbelieving person and it usually takes long to build a relationship with him but once he gets to know you, he's willing to do anything to protect you.
Attack Style: Metal Sword, Shield. A mix of defense and offense.
Class (Multiclass allowed later) Celestial Warlock
Backstory. What is your story? How did you find out about the Pearl Defenders? Coral wasn't born an Aasimar. He is sure of that. The body he has seems to belong to someone else. He woke a few years ago with a bound book in his hand and strange features. He doesn't recall much but the faces of dead friends swim before his eyes from time to time and he feels pangs of sorrow when they do. The book is the last parcel of a dark entity that was released in his former life. He made a pact with an Angel to keep the evil from spreading. Now the Book is bound to him.
optional Info:
Your character's personality. (Grumpy but honorable, backstabbing traitor, scaredy-cat, etc.) He is rather clumsy and gauche. But there is a fire in him that shines bright and he will do what he can to thwart evil. He will not let others suffer for his mistakes.
Your main attack style. Weapons, tactics, etc. Spells and healing. He is more support but will not shy away from a fight.
Also whatever you'd like to add: He has shining golden eyes and flowing red hair. His tanned, almost yellow skin radiates heat. I liked the idea of inner turmoil and the whispers of evil trying to pull him away from the "good" path.
He is haunted by an Evil he unleashed. He made a pact with a Upper Being to keep the Evil in check. Going for Pact of the Tome
And also how often you can post. At least once every 1-2 days.
Your character's story is very mysterious. Interesting story.
Class: I need to playtest my homebrew class, the Spirit Caller, before I can sell it. If I'm allowed to play this character, you can get the class info for free!
Backstory: Growing up in the chaotic world of humans, Ylinna felt out of place as a more calm, collected person than those around her. She withdrew into the great forest, becoming a hermit and living a life of contemplation. One day, while meditating in a clearing, a small, spectral flame came to her. She learned that this was the spirit of an elf who had died in the forest eons ago, and she watched over the flame. As the years passed, more and more geists came to her, and she learned to work in tandem with them. One day, the spirits directed her to once again rejoin the modern world, and she reluctantly left the shade of the great boughs. Following the directions of the spirits, she traveled until the met the rest of the group, who the spirits said would play a great role in some upcoming conflict.
Personality: Quiet and reserved, will always think every dilemma through before taking action.
Tactics: Saralyn does not fight with weapons. Instead, she views each battle as a chess game as she directs the spirits bound to her around the fray.
Several times a day, unless I'm on vacation or something. I'll let you know before I leave if that happens.
Thank you for considering me! I love playing, and I really do need to do as much playtesting as possible, so I earnestly hope I'm picked.
Background; (Outlander) Vreen has traveled across the vastness of space after the destruction of his tribe. After a long stint serving on a common space traders barge as a deckhand he decided to go planetside. Now he finds himself in a desert much like the one he grew up in on his homeworld. Vreen heard about the Defenders of the Pearl while wandering from outpost to outpost in the desert.
Tactics; Hide and ambush
I can post at least once a day or more if need be.
I have read your intro and I'd like to test my chances.
Name: Liara Thunderbane
Race: Mountain dwarf
Class: Cleric of Muamman Duathal (Tempest domain)
Backstory:
It was a strange night 52 years ago. No stars nor moon was visible because of heavy clouds and thunders echoed in the valleys lighted up with so many lightnings even a human could have read with ease. That night I was born.
Many, including my parents, took this as an omen, and you must know, dwarves take such matters quite seriously, therefore as soon as I was old enough, I was brought to the Muamman Duathal's priest, Morrin Stormcloud who took me with him so I could eventually become one too. He was quite old that time and he knew he will need someone to take his place. I wasn't the best student. I wasn't a good one either. Many times the priest tired to convince me to act a bit more like him, but I hardly ever listened. To makes matters worse, I had no problems with any of the trials and always have felt His (the GOD's) presence. We have wandered for many years and I always liked this kind of life. Helping those who are lost, those who need us, no matter the race. I have learned a lot and managed to visit my family back home a few times. To a surprise of few. I wasn't a little sister any more.
A few months ago, when we were again in my home city, the priest brought me to the very cave, I was born in. There, he presented me with an amulet he made for me and in front of my whole family I was ordained a full priest. For some time we stayed with my family, but I knew it is the high time for me to move out. Six weeks later, I have heard the rumors about a strange storm. This was a sign. I took a turn and I was heading towards the Pearl Village.
Optional Info:
Your character's personality: Most people would describe Liara as cheerful and fun, a bit naive perhaps but when needed she can be as fierce as her name suggests.
Your main attack style: Liara loves her warhammer and that is the first weapon of choice for her, however her faith gives her other options and she can call for her god's intervention with some of the spells.
Anything else: I am fairly new to the mechanics of the DnD so - please excuse if I made any errors - point them out and I will correct them ;)
And also how often you can post: let's say 3 times a week? that's a reasonable approach but easily it can be increased twice.
As for donuts - I think we have different things in mind when we say donut, but I love those filled with wild rose petal jam covered with orange zest.

Really love your character. This fits perfectly with the story and is probably the best one yet. There's a very high chance you'll get chosen.

Name: Crunchface Bloodspur. That’s what his real name means. He translated it into common because no one he’s met Can pronounce it.
Race: Half-orc
Class (Multiclass allowed later) Lunar sorcerer, probably won’t multiclass.
Backstory. What is your story?: His Father was a human who joined a half-orc horde and later fell in love and (according to the orcish tradition) married the chieftain’s daughter. He was raised in said horde, trained to fight, and participated in a feud with a rival clan, including the last battle where he nearly died and watched his father and family get slain. One day soon after, he was lamenting the loss of his tribe over a bit of whiskey, got a bit drunk and accidentally had a fling with a moon goddess. He remembers none of this, but does know that he’s got all sorts of cool powers.
How did you find out about the Pearl Defenders?: He’s looking for work cause he’s low on funds and food, heard about it when inquiring for adventurous-type jobs. Now he’s hoping to get picked to take on this task.
Optional Info:
Your character's personality. (Grumpy but honorable, backstabbing traitor, scaredy-cat, etc.): Acts solemn but has an acute sense of humor. He’s loyal to his friends and Allies as a matter of principle-even if he doesn’t know them well. Likes fighting. He’s still (haha still, like three weeks later.) got a grudge against members of the enemy clan (If there are any important orc tribes in this story, it can be one of them, but if not I’ll just come up with one.) and will attack them on sight.
Your main attack style. Weapons, tactics, etc. Wack em with magic missile and fire bolt, defend with shield, and use a mace or shocking grasp in melee.
Also whatever you'd like to add. I like ducks? Donuts are good, but bad for my blood sugar.
