Marigold seemed to be taken back a smidge when she's immediately referred to as something other than her name, but doesn't take offense. Rather, she accepts the chair that gets pulled out for her, settling in and scooting herself forward, taking the chance to grant them her real title. "I hope I wasn't interrupting anything. But, you can refer to me as Marigold. Might I know your names?"

Barbär is churning the dice in his hand as the newest arrival comes to the table and asks the group her question, and the shock of her appearance prevents him from looking away for a moment and the dice slip out: 5
"Indeed, yes. Wow. You look different from most I've seen. Are you alright? Im a healer if this is an ailment, but if not and this is just your look, its quite impressive. My name is Barbär. And i will let the others introduce themselves." he says clearly concerned at first but melts to general curiosity
The modest crowd in the common room has been a constant hum of activity. The tone of the background noise definitely changes as a tall man enters and strides towards your table. Dressed in fine but serviceable clothing, the man’s dark coloring and musical accent denotes an origin in the Summer Lands, far to the south.
”Greetings, my friends,” he says in a warm manner, but you sense an air of concern to him. “I assume you are the ones who have responded to my notice. These are dire times. Please sit and we will discuss the job.”

Belgarath arrives, and opens the door and takes in his surroundings. His traveling clothes look well fitted, but worn as if he has been on the road for a while. He heads over to the bar, lowers his hood and ask for a "Golden Meade, kind barkeep." He then places a silver coin on the bar, "I am here, answering a call from the mayor, perchance where am I to meet his representative?"
Received the names of those she'd likely be working with, and politely declined the offer of medical aid because, indeed, this was what she was like normally. "Marigold."
He sits, and orders an ale. "You can call me Harbin if you wish, 'Undermayor' is a mouthful." He toasts, "To the mayor!" to the room, provoking a lukewarm response and a sarcastic snort from a miner, and takes a swig.
"As to the topic at hand, three of our citizen's have gone missing recently and I've exhausted our normal resources in trying to figure out what is going on, as there is no real connection between the three.
The first was Old Squinty Joe, a hunter, trapper and guide who was last seen in the eastern woods over the river. He's been gone almost a week. His cabin is on the eastern edge of town and seems undisturbed.
The second is Brother Randall, our priest of Anwyn. He's been disappeared for 4 days, and there is this annoying cleric from the city here to consult with him.
Lastly, my daughter, last seen in an unauthorized woodland hangout with her friends disappeared two days ago.
I'm at my wits end, can you help us?"

"Well, I will admit I'm quite confident in my tracking skills, but it has been two days....I'd not mind picking up that trail first if the rest of you think that's the first thing to do. Before we do that, we could consult with this priest to see what business they had with the town's priest. But I'm open to changing around the agenda."
Not wanting to come across as bossy, Marigold made clear her opinion. Finding the daughter seemed like it would be easiest given her skillset, but she did have some interest in a priest that might reside within the human cities. How would their ceremonies differ from her hometowns? The hunter being gone for a week, well--that made her think the trail was already going to be cold, and unlikely easy to pick up. Best to handle the other two first before they get stale as well.

"Sounds like a barrel of fun," mutters Cariadne, leaning forward in her chair. "What's in it for us, Undermayor Harbin?"
She squints at the undermayor, raising her mug to hide her scrutiny, seeking to find out whether he is, indeed, at his wits' end. Does he seem to be telling the truth? insight : 21
"Erm- seeing the way we look as a group means he himself isn't able to do the task. I'm sure with all the missing people there's paperwork and families to console on top of his normal duties. If that is what you meant, Bart. I mean no offense, but I think we are more capable than one person. However, Marigold, I believe you are on to something there. A man in the woods doesn't do so without the means to live there. He may have fled, or could be out on a long hunt. If he were tracking something, he could be miles away. My vote is the Mayors daughter just because we may have the best luck to start there." Barbär says trying to sound as professional as he could be, "I am also quite good at tracking and living on the land myself. So Mayor, why was the woodland area unauthorized? Or was she the one unauthorized? If its far, could you point this out on a map for us?"
"You're not all from around here, so I'll clue you in. The 'Mayor' of Daven's Falls is a hereditary title, passed down from the founder, Daven, himself. The current holder of that title is not exactly... competent, so we created the position of Undermayor to fulfill his duties."
He does very much appear frazzled and upset by the situation, especially when talking about his daughter. He's definitely seems truthful.
"By unauthorized, I just meant I told her not to go with her hooligan friends that night and she snuck off without her mother or I seeing. He pulls out a map and points to the area in question."
"The Town is willing to pay 50 gold for each of the missing, if alive, 30 if dead. I will pay 100 for my daughter's return either way, and Brother Tobias over at the church of Anwyn will pat 150 for Brother Randall."

Cariadne eyes the map narrowly and looks up at the Undermayor. "Your daughter's friends: who are they and why did you ask her not to go out with them? Did they return as expected, and what information did they give as to the whereabouts of your daughter?
"Have you been to the area in question, or do you know about it only from reports?"
She gets up and is ready to leave once her questions are answered.

"Sir may we borrow your map? If I damage it at all I will pay you 25 gold. It would prove most useful to saving your daughter."
"I agree--harder to get snuck up on during the daylight hours. Unless we've more questions to ask, but I'm ready to go whenever the rest of you are."
