Elidon pauses in thought and then says "Alright I will stay but I must see my mate before leaving Thither. That means after saving these children we will stop by the Wayward Pool" he says the last point in a firm tone
"Thank you, Elidon," Val says. "We agree. The Stars have been good for us so far tonight, and hopefully we'll soon have all of the children out of Loomlurch."
(OOC: My understanding is that the party is on the balcony outside of L8. Since Elidon is large, I guess he might be in the far western end. Elkhorn is probably on the stairs, herding Yevelda, Callyborn, and Pogo up the stairs in front of him.)
Val turns her focus to the door. She quietly casts Guidance on herself to heighten her senses. She assumes that it's all clear since the tin men have run into the garden for now, but she listens at the door to L8 and checks it for any traps anyway. Perception24 (including bonus from Guidance)
Assuming that Val doesn't detect any traps or hear anything scary, she steps aside for Aoife to enter first. In particular, if the door is locked, she thinks that Aoife still has the keys.
This dormitory nestles in the tree boughs and has round windows overlooking a wooden balcony. Lining the walls are ten child-sized bunks outfitted with patchwork quilts and straw-stuffed pillows.
A young male dwarf lies in one of the bunks, coughing and drenched in sweat, while an older lad mops his brow with water from a bucket. Two doors exit the room: one leads to a balcony, the other deeper into the tree.
Finley nods at Val, and when the door is opened and upon seeing the young dwarf, Finley takes a couple steps forward, "Don't ye be alarmed,"He starts, glancing at the caretaker, "is he gonna be ok?"
Aoife pushes the door open and enters the room. She scans around the room to see if there is anything else (perception 26). If she doesn't see any other creatures she heads towards the two boys. "Anything I can do?" she asks gently. (Medicine 10)
If Aoife doesn't spot any dangers, Valrieth suggests, "Ilifir, can you search the room for anything useful or valuable? Or any possessions the children might want to keep?"
Val then approaches the bed to see what Finley and Aoife found. She asks the older boy for their names and nodes to the dwarf, "Is it safe to move him? We killed Granny Nightshade, and we have come to rescue you and the other children. We need to get everyone out before Loomlurch collapses." She gestures to the other children, who are presumably just coming up the stairs and into the room by that time.
The human boy is taken aback by the party and has a shifty look as if he is torn between fight or flight. He eyes go wide when he hears that Granny Nightshade was killed. "I am leaving. You can do whatever you want with Brottor. He at death's door." He edges around the party and starts moving towards the door. It seems he prioritized his safety over anyone else.
Aoife examines the hill dwarf child and realizes that he is poisoned and won't live to see morning. She does what you could and delays the inevitable death by 2 hours.

Valrieth is irritated at this behavior and somewhat taken aback. She says, somewhat sharply, "Stay here, you foolish boy! Even though Granny Nightshade is dead, her magic has not faded yet. Without us, her guards will prevent you from leaving, and there are still dangers all around Loomlurch."

Hearing this, Val is again annoyed that she didn't prepare Protection from Poison today. She makes a 'tsk' sound and says, "With enough time, I could probably brew an antitoxin, but I don't think that I'll have time to gather the ingredients and make it before morning." She looks back toward the door to the balcony and asks the unicorn, "Elidon, I don't suppose you can also cure someone who has been poisoned, can you?"
"is it a magical poison or mundane?" ilifir asks worriedly "because if its a curse i can help, and if its a spelled poison i think it might be possible to dispel it" he begins to swiftly sort through his bag and is immediately frustrated "i need to bring more mundane solutions next time, why do i never learn?"

This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?

Valrieth says, "If we ever make it back to Downfall, in Hither, there was a sort of store there. But you'll need valuable items to trade, so keep a look out for anything we can carry out of here." It becomes more clear why Val wanted to put the ornamental pig statuettes and other things in the portable hole for later.
Elidon looks into the room as he is too large to enter. "I can cure the child. Bring the child to me and I will see him on the mend"
Once someone carries the child to Elidon, he lowers his head, and his horn begins to glow. Brottor is bathed in something akin to sunlight. A healthy color returns to his cheeks, and he slowly sits up still rather weak. He looks to Elidon and the party "Thank ye for what you have done. I don't know how I can repay you but I will someday"

"Oh! Thank you ever so much!", Valrieth says happily. She's now very glad that Elidon came with them even though she's worried that it will cost Finley his heart.

"There's no need to repay anyone," Val says. "Just be a good, brave boy. Stay with the dwarf -- no, the other dwarf -- Elkhorn. There you go. We need to keep everyone together and get the rest of the children out of Loomlurch."
Aoife watches, eyes wide, as Elidon heals the child. Her expression is reverent.
She shakes her head as to get rid of a dream. "Alright, we need to get moving. Where to next?"
Val hesitates. "I think that we have time for a quick look around," she says, looking to Ilifir and Finley to see whether they've started searching the room.
Addressing Aoife directly, Val says, "We still need to find five other children. Hopefully they're in the workshop (L4) or the other room (L9) with a balcony onto the gardens. If you go back on the balcony with Elidon, I think that you could see the roof of that room just a little south and west of us, closer to ground level. But Will's distraction sent all of the tin men guards into the garden, so I think it's a better idea to get downstairs through the inside." And, as Val said before, she's definitely not enthusiastic about walking through Granny Nightshade's garden (L5), where she assumes that they'll just find twisted and poisonous plants. Val points at this room's other door and says, "Like the weaving room in the other tower where we found Yevelda, Callybon, and Pogo, I guess this door leads to a stairway back downstairs. I'm sure we'll find a way to that other room with a balcony downstairs. And then we can check the workshop on our way out to the bridges across the little ravine to the south."
Val looks out the door to the balcony and says, "Elidon, I'm afraid all of the doors are going to be too small for you now that you're back to your regular self. Maybe you could fly down to that other balcony," pointing down to the balcony outside of L9, "if there are no tin men on it and wait for us there. Or else at the two vine bridges that cross the ravine at the south end of Loomlurch?" Val doesn't really want to send Elidon away, but there's no easy way to get him inside and down the stairs.
Relieved that the dwarf child is alright, Finley nods at him before going quickly around the room to see if there is anything else of interest, "well let's check th' door while ah'm giving th' room ah once over, aye? That sounds like th' best and safest way ta me. Ah dunnae wanna miss any kids, could be one down there right now."
While Finley (and Ilifir?) search the room, Valrieth casts Guidance on Aoife so that she can listen at the door that leads deeper into the tree, check it for traps, and see whether it's locked.
(OOC: I just remembered that Aoife also has a +7 in Perception. 🙂)
A gold signet ring depicting a weeping willow (25 gp)
A cracked bloodstone (25 gp) stuffed inside a pillowcase
Aoife listens at the door and hears nothing beyond the heavy creaks across Loomlurch. Once the door is opened then you see a similar landing with curving stairs that lead to L7
Ten brightly painted structures resembling little wooden houses line the walls of this room. Each small house has a three-foot-high hinged door. Four of the doors are open, and the other six are closed.
A narrow staircase ascends the circular wall. Near the foot of the stairs is a painted wooden box three feet on a side. A crank protrudes from one side of it, causing it to resemble an oversized jack-in-the-box.

"Nice!", Valrieth says with a smile. She's hopes that the valuable trinkets will make it easier for them to make bargains if they need anything from other fey in Prismeer.
(OOC: Val was trying to get into L9, the other room with a balcony onto the gardens. On the map, it looks like there's a door on the landing about halfway down the stairs between L7 and L8. Do we see that door?)
