Hi! I've been technologically disabled for the last few weeks, was meaning to sign up with this thread before it closed but I missed it thanks to my (_#$&%_@#%& computer. I'll send you a PM asking to be waitlisted or join late, but in the meanwhile here's the character I was hoping to use.
ABILITY SCORE ROLLS (rolled for this thread): 13, 11, 12, 16, 9, 12
PREVIOUS ABILITY SCORES (rolled on the manual/dice roll option in the character builder [4d6 discard lowest]: STR 13 DEX 17 CON 11 INT 14 WIS 14 CHA 9
INITIAL DISTRIBUTION (the scores I rolled for this thread, whatever those turn out to be, distributed in the same pattern of highest-to-lowest as the pattern of the scores I got when I was building the character) (and btw, just as an observation, I've been playing off and on since the very earliest 1970s-80s days of the red boxed basic set when that WAS all there was to D&D, and the alignments were total Moorcockian law-neutrality-chaos with no good-evil component yet added in; and its been really interesting to watch even the way small things change over the years. Ability scores used to be listed STR INT WIS DEX CON CHR. IDK why, or for that matter why we're doing it the way we're doing it now, now, except that now it seems to be more of a physical first/mental and spiritual after split. ???)
NAME: Sae Ivui Naïlo ("Poison Ivy of the Nightbreeze clan")
RACE: Wood elven
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic good
CLASS: Taurë Tavári (homebrew class essentially fusing scout and swashbuckler rogues with some woodland tricks; if homebrew not approved, ranger (gloom stalker) also excellently fits the concept of the stealthy, deadly shadow warrior guardian of the woodlands who does things with elven panache and style (for an example from classic mythology, think Odysseus and Diomedes in the night raid scene of The Iliad) and whose people have had millenia to perfect this art and carefully select the woodcraft and druidic skills best suited for that SPECIFIC purpose and add them in to the subclass while discarding the rest
BACKGROUND: A wood elf who belonged to a Taurë Tavári scouting and guerilla unit which included her heartsworn mate and childhood friends until she came back to camp from a mission and found them all massacred by a frost giant jarl who was committing this atrocity as a declaration of war against her tribe. As it says in her flaws list (I've set her up as a gloom stalker ranger build if the homebrew rogue/scout-with-some-swashbuckler-and-assorted-woodland-tricks subclass doesn't fit this campaign, which is why it starts out talking about a favored enemy:
My favored enmity is no mere enmity. It is an obsession. I lost the love of my life and the friends of my childhood to a giant. If you get between me and a giant, I don''t care if you are my dearest friend NOW, I will cut you down to get at it. And don't ask me to even notice that any other enemies exist on the Prime Material Plane as long as that abomination is anywhere in my sight. I, a wood elf of Faerun, have even left my homeland and people and taken up the life of an adventurer in the hope that I might somehow be able to trust non-wood elf allies to help me kill more of the bloated monstrosities. Death to all (evil) giants!
And it's gonna be a pretty heavy lift for me to even trust the ones who CLAIM to be good. My attitude towards them is best expressed by a saying of my people that we post behind the counter of any trading post we might open and which roughly translates as, "In the Gods we trust. All others cash."
As far as the portrait goes, just now seeing it in large form for the first time. But yes: I can see the spotted complexion as the result of the sun on skin suddenly brought out into the open sun and miles-long winds from lifetimes in forest gloom and gentler breezes; and definitely the baldness, I'd already decided her far traveler personality quirk ritual would be shaving her head daily at dawn and sacrificing the hair to her god in a rite of grief and dedication until the last evil giant in the world falls to her blades, shafts, and spells.

oh btw, there was no such thing as outdoor adventures or travel either, those came in with the 'Expert' set, the first expansion. There were two or three of those, all in boxed sets, and then Gygax hit his stride with ADVANCED Dungeons and Dragons where most of the basic concepts that hadn't already been taken care of were ironed out ... I think that was the first time I saw good and evil added to the alignments, and I;m pretty sure that that was the first time the game treated "Elf", "Dwarf" and so on as RACES instead of CLASSES. As I remember, in the earliest days the elf was the way you got your fighter and magic user components together, multi and dual classing was also an innovation of AD&D ... oh spit, autistic brain's in storytelling mode again. I'll shut it off here and y'all tell me if you want me to resume or shut up with the stories already.

I noticed our builds have a bit of overlap that might work well for tying backstories together if you are interested?
Chatic Neutral Variant Humans, with polearm master feats.
No big deal if not.
I appreciate the offer, but I already have a fairly independent backstory in mind for Namor (which tends to be the case when I go with warlocks.)

Sorry, but no.
Recruitment ended months ago, and as far as I know the DM has never asked for new players. The thread label is inaccurate.
