Speaking to Chadwick and Gneuman. Any thing of interest about the mage? Not sure that provided much value and we didn’t learn anything from the seven sails, however the Bard may draw a sizable crowd that may be provide some additional opportunities. I recommend we return to the dancing dolphin, meet with Hoid and Trolkarl, exchange information and determine our next course of action.
At the inn in Luskan, a gnome turns and gets out of bed, initially holding his head for a minute, massaging his temples as a mild headache dissipates. He stands and goes over to the water basin and mirror, splashing water on his face and remembering the events of the last week. “Xagyg….” He says to himself in the mirror. He finishes drying off, smelling the distinct odor of cooking bacon and eggs waft up and into his room. He puts on his maroon cloak and grabs his things, his pack and puts them on. He dips his finger in the water and rubs it across his crooked teeth, trying to get the film off them. On his nightstand he lifts a talisman with an odd bluish hue, and puts it around his neck. It is marked with an X, and he as he puts it on he says the name again, “Xagyg”, his mind lost in thought. “Guess I’ll wander downstairs and see what today holds.” He closes up his journal and puts it in his pack and grabs his staff, making his way down the stairs. He gives a nod to the innkeep and pulls up a chair at a table, saying as he walks by “I’ll have whatever you are making in there, it smells so good!” He gives the owner a snaggle toothed smile and sits down, pulling his journal and quill out, finishing up his notes.
“He said two dwarves, two humans and a shaven headed gnome. Hmmmm.” He muses to himself. He’s made drawings of the faces he saw, caricatures in his journal, and he taps his chin, looking around the common room in the inn, scanning faces, waiting for his food to arrive. His hand goes up to his head and he rubs his curly brownish/grey hair absentmindedly.
Erbert finds a seat at a long table in the common room. The man behind the counter nods to him as he asks for breakfast. A woman walks through the door behind him and stops, mouth open. The man turns and talks to her quietly. She throws her hands in the air and turns around. Shortly after, he brings you a plate of cold sausage, boiled eggs and rye bread. A mug of small beer as well to wash it down. “Here you are,” he says. “Happy to have you staying with us. Seems we have a lot of travelers from distant shores here today,” he says with a smile.
All have returned to the Dancing Dolphin. There is a gnome who appears to be a wizard. Chadwick has walked over to address him.
Dimmick and his wife are taking care of cleaning the common room. She continues to give furtive looks to the group of you. Dimmick is quietly humming a tune.
Erbert sets down his fork, carefully wiping his mouth with his napkin. He looks up, the faces is known to him, pulled from a memory. He grabs at his temples again. “Really? Nice to meet you Chadwick. Or do you go by LeRoy, Mr. Jenkins. Hmmm, LeRoy Jenkins, that does have a nice ring to it. Well let’s not rush all off into things haphazard, have a seat, pull up a chair. My name is Erbert Jenkor Jerriheimerschmidt, pleased to meet you!” As he’s doing this he’s fondling the pendant on his neck. “Xagyg you say?” Erbert coughs and produces some of a sausage into his napkin, then covers it up, clearing his throat. “Xagyg? Curious, that is the name that I hand on my mind when I saw your face. You might think I’m crazy… but, I’ve seen you before. I was in a… well a….a testing ground of sorts. Devised by this quite skilled and devious wizard, Xagyg. Say, do you have any friends that are with you? Perhaps two dwarves, another human, and a gnome with a shaved head? We do have much to discuss, don’t we? Have you already eaten?” Erbert smiles at Chadwick and pulls out his journal and quill.
Upon returning to the Dancing Dolphin, will meet up with Hoid and Trolkarl over some beer and mutton stew. "Here is what we found of interest."
Turning to Gneuman... "please add any details you feel are relevant"
Exchange with Hoid and Trolkarl
"Temples provided no relevant information with regards to Cpt Taggerty" "However they do be worshiping vile beings of nefarious persuasion"
"Then visited the Seven Sails as it has somewhat friendly owners to my kind. Merchants and a pair which had a Mage type and a Sailor, able to discern nothing relevant" "The sailor did happen to pay with a Platinum coins, may seem a bit odd for a Sailor however the clientele there was somewhat highend."
"What relevant information did you come across?"
Once we exchange information, i suggest that we develop our next actions to continue the investigation.
Hoid and Trolkarl didn’t get much useful information. There was a fight in an alley 3 nights ago, and the missing ship captain wears a belt with a buckle of two dolphins circling each other.
"We also heard from sailors that something prowls the docks at night and maybe steals souls. Seems in agreement with the religious sentiment Chadwick mentioned. That said, we saw nothing to convince us those were more than stories. There were older signs posted for others missing, any thoughts on looking into those?"
Taurik is cleaning the table nearby and perks up with Gneuman's question. "You must be talking about the big tower and keep on the island at the mouth of the river?" he asks looking around. Not waiting for an answer, he continues, "That is the Tower Arcane. The Aracane Brotherhood is housed there. A nest of wizards there. Mostly keep to themselves. But," he moves in closer and lowers his voice, "Word is they are the real power in town. The five Ships all run the day-to-day business of the city. The Brotherhood pulls the strings." He stands up straighter, "Or, so I am told." He continues moving along cleaning the tables.
Erbert looks across the room and he sees the far table, faces form in his mind and then as he watches, he notes them sitting at the table. “Say, Chadwick, do you know those fellows sitting at that table over there?” He points to Trokarl, Kragen, Gneuman and Hoid. “Those fellows, over there. Do you know them? I have seen visions of all of you, put in my brain by that Xagyg fellow, he mentioned that they would need my guidance…(softer) and I would need theirs…. What do you know of this wizard, Xagyg? Why are you all here, should we join them?”
””Chadwick, bring your goofy self and your new gnome friend to the table where we can talk.”
”Gnome, my name is Hoid. I do not know much more about myself. My compatriots and I went through some sort of ordeal, apparently in our dreams, against unnatural foes. Something claiming to be a wizard told us it was a test. We awoke in this inn and noticed one another in the common room. We began investigating what is going on in this xenophobic town, hoping to understand what happened and perhaps gain a chance at the obscene wealth in our ordeal.”
"Welcome strange traveler. It appears that there are others who have been afflicted by this dream, what madness is this?!" to Erbert.
"Reports or something prowling the docks and stealing souls is rather unnerving! Should we send a team to investigate at night to determine what is afoot?" to the broader group.
Chadwick walks over over to join the group with his new friend. He ruffles Hoids hair and calls him a rascal.
Staking out the alleys seems like a good idea. Perhaps as bait I could present myself as a drunken sailer wandering around? I could get some rougher cloths and a boarding axe to fit the part.

Hoid and Trolkarl are making their way back to the Dancing Dolphin.
Chadwick, Kragen and Gneuman have followed a man from the Seven Sails Inn to the harbor side and watched him enter the keep of the Arcane Brotherhood.
I fill in the others about the evilness of the temples so we didn't feel comfortable, and thought it wouldn't be useful to ask around there.
So, heading back to the Dancing Dolphin?
Sorry all, was traveling with family!

When we get back and Chadwick sees Erbert he'll approach him.
"Greetings good fellow! My name is Chadwick LeRoy Jenkins (he puts in an odd extra emphasis on Leroy).
Can't help but notice you look like the wizarding sort of chap. Any chance you might know of a wizard named Xagyg?"
He generally strikes people as the personification of a golden lab. Friendly, pretty, and dumb.
All have returned to the Dancing Dolphin. There is a gnome who appears to be a wizard. Chadwick has walked over to address him.

(( /monitoring posts. /watching for something actionable. ))
Chadwick and Erbert are talking.
Trolkarl, Kragen, Gneuman and Hoid are at another table talking. Kragen is downing a bread bowl of mutton stew.
"The Wizardly looking chap made his way across the bridge to that island. It appears to heavily guarded. Has anyone here ever ventured there?"
Taurik is cleaning the table nearby and perks up with Gneuman's question. "You must be talking about the big tower and keep on the island at the mouth of the river?" he asks looking around. "I would volunteer to stake out the docks with some of my non-human folk, my senses have been honed in darken mines."
Chadwick walks over over to join the group with his new friend. He ruffles Hoids hair and calls him a rascal.
