"I've decided I'm getting old and will soon have no need for my supplies. That being said, I'll enchant one item from each of you for free. Fire is a mystery to me, I used to live inside the ocean. But lightning I can do."
For the sake of equality, each of you chooses one item. We can decide who owns the ice handaxe later. Choose 1 of the following enchantments:
Weapons
Stormcaller. Twice per day when dealing damage with an attack by this weapon, the target can be forced to make a DC 13 Strength or Dexterity saving throw (whichever best matches the weapon). On a failed save, the target takes an extra 1d8 lightning damage.
Fatal. The chosen weapon has +2 to attack rolls.
Binding. The walking speed of a creature hit by this weapon is decreased by 5 feet until the end of their next turn.
Armor
Anti-Acid Polish. Acid damage dealt to the creature wearing this armor is decreased by 1d6.
Reflecting. Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing damage from nonmagical attacks are decreased by 1.
The weapons are considered magical. A creature resistant to nonmagical attacks takes full damage.
"I knew you were a warrior worth remembering. Here's your greatsword."
Titus cocked his head a bit at the compliment, then gave a nod. "Thank you, sir. Your kindness won't be forgotten." He then stepped aside to allow the others to approach, while he discretely eyed the elf. He'd been skeptical of him at first, but now he found himself quietly wondering what sort of trials the mage had been through.
"Now, go thaw the prince." And then he, most likely to give the DM an excuse to finally level up the party without waiting for a major event, he adds, "The magic of these weapons will strengthen you."
Titus nodded his thanks again to Wilser as he stepped off the porch. "Well," he said to the others as they headed back, "I'm glad we'll be able to free the prince with these, but I think I'm going to have some questions for him when we're done. I don't like the idea that he was ensnared so easily."
Cunning steps forward holding the enchanted handaxe. He examines the ice encasing the prince, looking for a suitable point to strike, a flaw, or a spot where the ice is thinner, using his knowledge of ice from his homeland.
Nature 21
Having found a suitable spot, he strikes the ice once, to gauge how it reacts.

Cunning Green-moss - Tiefling Barbarian Haj i Rae - Human Gloom Stalker Olan Fargrove - Elf Swashbuckler
Qal Joharge - Human Monk Nyli Bemblade - Gnome Thief
Titus gripped his now-enchanted greatsword as Cunning began working on the ice. Not wanting to get in the way with his unwieldy weapon, he offered, "You seem like you know what you're doing; let me know if you need something a big larger. If not, I'll just let you keep on with that axe; I'd rather not accidentally lop off an arm with this."
"Your Highness," said Titus in relief as the rest of the ice fell from the prince. He watched the young man closely, waiting for him to come to his senses before speaking further.
"I knew you were a warrior worth remembering. Here's your greatsword."

Cunning hefts the maul and carefully swings it a couple of times. "I thank you. This does indeed make me feel stronger."*
"For now I shall take the axe and see how well it works against the ice."

When you arrive, the King himself is waiting with 11 other men. "Have you come to free my son?" The king asks hopefully.

You notice the ice must have spread starting at his right hand, and his left side isn't as deep. Cracks form halfway up his body as you first strike.

(( Perception check to have Titus try to determine if it's the ice that's cracking, or the prince's actual body: 21 ))
