Gramdal feels the bite of the fell magic that powers the curled blade. In that moment, he is both scared and amazed! Truly an item who's power is something to be reckoned with, and Gramdal knows just slimy worm to face this reckoning. With the shadow magics of Vapurrr concealing him, Gramdal makes his approach. He'll slip into the shadows, both of the bars and its patrons. All but gone to the naked eye, he thinks. And so he will attempt to slip right up to Wyrmhoof, taking whatever moment he can to block his escape.
Another stealth check fueled by Vapurrr if needed: 26
Traever sighs with disappointment at the mention of his mother. "You are not paying attention," he says to you, Norvalor. "Today was the first day people saw me as drow." He means half-drow, but his reply is telling. "I'm good at sneaking around. How else do you think mother found all the ingredients to make the polymorph potion we drank every morning? I steal things. I borrow things. What's the difference?"

You move through the taproom like stretching shadows, unnoticed, slippery, Gramdal. Wyrmhoof, you notice, blinks repeatedly with surprise.
He's going to try to contest your Stealth roll. If he succeeds, he'll throw his dagger. If he fails, you'll have traveled your base movement through the area.
Let's take a look at the die roll, shall we: 15
As Perceptive as he is, as cruel and cunning, Wyrmhoof is so far ill prepared for this encounter. Although, don't forget, Kelten mentioned guards. Wyrmhoof does not travel alone. Ever. Where and who are they?
Norvalor looks at the young half-drow and smiles and says " stealing can be considered wrong to some but when your life and your families life is at risk not even the gods could fault you for that. Just remember don't steal from people who look like they need it, and don't put your life endanger for things that aren't necessary. You are young and have a promising future I've told you this before. Both you and your sister so grew potential to do good in this crazy would of ours filled with beast of all kinds." Norvalor kneels down to be eye level with Traever "I can see the a flame that burns within you're eyes some would call it the the heart of an adventurer. Just know that you need to train hard and one day you may be off on adventures to help better the world. But you must know that you will face hardship and discrimination. I can tell you this because i have faced it, and it has made me stronger. You are young and must know that not everyone will like you, but there will be people who will like me and that dwarf Cath. Most importantly your family will always love you so you must protect them." Norvalor smiles and ruffles the kids hair and says "if you don't want to stay inside the tavern for now you can come with me to pay a visit to me old friends. Just go tell your mom you'll be with me for a bit ."

Gramdal moves his full and amazing Dwarve movement of 25 feet, slinking ever closer to Wyrmhoof. Yes, his guards. They are either too distracted with the brawl, or they are biding their time. Waiting for Gramdal to leave cover so he can make his move. That's most likely when they'll make their counter. Just to be safe though...
Perception to find the guards: 14
Speaking of Kelten, what is he up to? What about his other Dwarf associate? Curious that he hasn't seen them yet. Was it all a set up? Some elaborate trap?! Perhaps vengeance for nearly killing that Flaming Fist earlier? No...it doesn't matter right now. He's too close to turn away now. Besides, a trap isn't a trap anymore if you know about it...right? Gramdal will attempt to keep moving forward as he searches for those pesky guards. He'll use his Cunning Action to try and keep skulking through the shadows.
Perceptive, Gramdal. Indeed. It takes you all of one second to take into account Wymrhoof's decision to go toward the bar counter. Why? You get your answer. A man clad in black leather pops out from behind the cover and takes aim at you with a crossbow. In the meanwhile, you spot Monduu sneak up around the counter from your right. He falls against the bar counter wall and looks up over his brow. Kelten is preoccupied at the moment, boxing a customer.
Norvalor Smiles and looks at Traever and says "yes i promise i'll still be here how go tell your mom where you'll be shes a good woman I don't want her to be worried."
Traever spends a few minutes trying to get his mother's attention, but her paying customers keep her busy with drink orders. She nods in the way parents do when they acknowledge a child but don't peel away from whatever task is at hand.
Traever spots you, Norvalor, in the doorway and shrugs. He doesn't want to lie to you, but he doesn't want to upset his mother. He waits some more. His brow crinkles as the minutes pass. His bright eyes begin to dim; his adventurous spirit wanes. Another minute goes by. Kaiylin is having the time of her life. it's been so long since she last earned her keep.
Disheartened, Traever pushes off the table and drags himself through the inn toward you, knowing he doesn't have his mother's permission. Without it, he surely can't go.
Before he reaches you, Kaiylin appears at his side. "I'm sorry, Trae. I was helping some folk. What did you need?"
His eyes light up. If only for a moment. He loses interest. He turns away, downtrodden. "Nothing," he mutters under his breath. Kaiylin hears the disappointment. And so did you, Norvalor.
Norvalor seeing this, smiles at Kaiylin and says "Traever was going to ask you if he come go on a walk with me. to be honest i kind of made him ask to make sure you knew and wouldn't worry."
Her eyes flash with worry. No explanation is needed. But she knows her son, and keeping him at her side is not the way she must raise him. Like his father, Traever must travel through the dark to find his light.
She kisses her son on the forehead, and says. "You may go. Be back before the Witching Hour."
Traever throws his arms around her. "Thank you, mother!"
"Now, remember—" she starts to say.
"Confuse the dark for darkness and I'll lose my way," Traever replies almost mechanically. But he believes the poetry, the philosophy. He lives and breathes and dances in the dark, and he's ready to join you., Norvalor.

The boy's eyes go wide. "You promise, Norvalor? I'll find you at this spot when I run back?"
OOC: would Norvalor know if it would be alright for him to take the boy to his old squads memorial/burial site?
That's your call, pal.
It's clear to Norvalor that Traever feels out of place. He's looking to belong.
OOC probably no Child protective services in Baldur's Gate
BWAHAHAHAAA.

Norvalor, You haven't finished saying, "promise," before Traever slips away and darts back inside the Purple Wyrm.
Do you follow him?
Norvalor just smiles and walks to the door and sees what happens.

OOC: what time of night is it and how long until the witching hour?
