I’m currently running a series of short one-shots that originate from a famous but somewhat shady inn named Madame Freona’s Tea Kettle located in the city of Phlan within the Moonsea region of the Forgotten Realms setting. I’ll start running Episode 2 (“The Screams at Dawn”) within the next few days and am looking for a few extra players to complete the party (we’ll have a couple of continuing players from Episode 1). I’m looking for a party of about 4 to 6 players in total, and episodes are completely independent, so no previous knowledge is required.
A few rules to keep in mind:
Frequency of posts: Players and DM will be expected to post at least once a day. From what I’ve seen, however, it is not uncommon for posts to be made more frequently than that, especially in short and quick games like this one, so if you can only post once a day, make sure you are comfortable with others posting more frequently (see rule on plot advancement).
Plot advancement: The pace of plot advancement is determined by players’ posts. If enough players indicate in their posts through characters’ actions or speech that they are ready for the next plot point and/or dungeon room, I’ll advance the story. Extended periods of silence will also count as agreement to move the plot forward. In such cases, your PC will be assumed to be ‘out-of-shot’ or ‘in the background’, quietly following the party’s decisions.
Loose initiative: During combat, players can post/take their turns as long as it comes up before that of the next enemy. For example, if initiative looks like this: PC1, PC2, Enemy, PC3; then, PC2 is welcome to take their turn without having to wait for PC1 to post, but PC3 would have to wait until the Enemy takes its turn. I’ll then make sense of the posts the next time I make my own post. Making your post flexible and/or conditional on others’ is quite helpful. This should help decrease the amount of downtime during a fight.
The 24-hour rule (in-combat): If 24 hours have elapsed since the DM has asked for your input in combat (i.e. since your turn has come up), then I’ll take control of your PC for that turn, during which they will perform simple weapon attacks, cantrips, or the dodge action as appropriate. I dislike doing this, but it is a necessary last resort to keep the action moving forward in a daily-post game.
Character creation (new character): You are free to create any character concept that you’d like as long as it does not contain any of the following: Unearthed Arcana, Critical Role, or homebrewed content; innate flying races (Aarakocra, Winged Tiefling, etc.); or evil-aligned characters. Stats will be rolled as 4d6 (x7) drop lowest of the 4 dice, drop the lowest of the 7 rolls. New characters must be created as 1st level characters and get the starting equipment. Starting equipment can be sold for 50% value, and mundane equipment can be purchased for the price listed in the PHB.
Pre-existing characters: You are welcome to apply with a pre-existing character instead. If going this route, please clear with me first any magic item or non-standard equipment that your character already has and is bringing into the game. Your pre-existing character must be of 1st level. Please do not create a new character and pass it off as an existing one just to bypass stat rolling or to start with a magic item (honor system here, please).
Be patient and forgiving: PbP games require some patience and flexibility. Also, everyone makes mistakes, including the DM (I’m always learning from each new game). I like to think I’m quite accommodating so if you see something you don’t like, reach out and we’ll find a solution. A sense of humor also goes a long way.
If you agree with all the rules above and would like to join us for this one-shot, please post your application below. To apply, please post your character's name, class, race, current XP points (if using a pre-existing character), and selected background here, along with a D&D Beyond character sheet/profile link. As this is a short one-shot, there really is no need for an extensive backstory, but feel free to post a short paragraph if so inclined. If selected, you’ll be asked to join a campaign with a D&D Beyond link. See you there!
Hey again! If you'd be up for taking Drazzim for another spin, he's around. (If you get enough people for the game, I don't mind stepping down to let others get a chance)
Cato was a professor of Natural Sciences as a large university. In his mid forties, he met some other naturalists who were a bit more hands-on. They harnessed the power of natural magic, they worked, lived even, in the wilds to become a part of nature and not just study samples in a musty laboratory. Some could even adopt the shapes of the creatures they studied. They called themselves druids. Cato realized he had spent his entire life making a study of plants, animals, and other creatures, but had rarely so much as taken a stroll in the woods. He wanted to be more like the druids he had met. So he took a leave of absence from his university, bought supplies and provisions, gave the remainder of his money to his daughter, a student at the university, and departed for the wild.
Cato is a pre-existing character and participated in Episode 1. His stats are, in order and after racial bonuses: 12,10,12,17,18,13
Will create one character later, rolling for now, btw is Eberon considered UA or not? (since the book is avaliable)

Pre concept (will create a full one when I get home): a war forged created to rescue animals and people in the forest, now his mission still stands, to help those in need in the wilderness of this world, despite being created to aid, he's no stranger to fight either.
Full back:
I was born a creation of the great Shifting Bear, an apprentice to a now forgotten house of Cannith rogue.
But my creator was far more than a simple rogue, he was a druid, trying to escape the war and save as many as he could, with his creations, the house offered him a place, that place was where he had my creation, I was created by him as a rescue machine, something that could go into the war and rescue, to go into the forests and rescue, basically to rescue wherever it'd be needed to save a Cannith.
He always hated war, and never understood the clans wars tho, in my settings I'm bound not just to cannith but, to save anyone I may, this secret may get my master killed, or it could during the war, time when he's died, killed by one of other house's spies, one he tried to save.
The war ended just 2 years later, and it was then I was given a respite from all the death and war, I decided to follow my master's teaching, to go into nature, rescue all those in distress.
I have as such learned the maps of all nearby forests, saving all those good in distress, and slaying those who mean others harm.
Now I come in this group, they seem to want to do good, my protocol tends to drive me towards those people, guess I should join them.

Eberron should be fine, as long as you manage to put it in the character sheet using the D&D Betong site.
Just a heads-up, the Eberron stuff is still undergoing refinement, so it may change from time to time (just in case you see sudden changes to your stats, etc.)

Alright, I feel we got a neat number of players interested, so I'm closing the thread. Anyone that has already posted is still welcome to edit their applications.

Remaining stats since messed up and rolled once.
Rolling for RemainingScores: 12 - 18 - 15 - 15 - 18 - 16
**Edit**My apologies, first time rolling for stats. I believe I understand now. Please let me know if the below is incorrect
0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0
15 - 11 - 13 - 10- 14- 9 - 11
This is correct. Now drop the lowest of the 7 (that would be the 10).
Alright, I see. Lets see what coolasc has in mind when they posts a character. I'll consider it then.
