"Is it possible," Abraxas says, "to use the toys in the chest to recreate the map on the circular rug?" What, he wonders to himself, might the arcane implications be?
Harmony was surprised and relieved at what she saw, realizing that they finally made to the childrens' bedroom. She saw as Balin got to the white chest first, opening it up to see all those toys. She heard as Abraxas asked if it would be possible to recreate the map on the rug using the toys, thinking. "That might be a good idea." she said back, nodding and not sure what else they could do since there is not much here for clues. Harmony was tempted to go hug that life-sized stuffed unicorn before deciding to open up the mahogany chest just in case there is anything in there.
Harmony opens the mahogany chest at the foot of the other bed. The chest is filled with stuffed animals - a wolf, fox, bear, and dragon - and also contains a train set and a set of dice.
Jove would like to cross reference all the bolded/highlighted items from the story vs what is in the room. He collects all of them and sees what we have and don't have. He makes a point to break one of the pick up sticks in half. He says "I can fix this later if we need it. I'm just taking tally right now. Don't want to summon a demon on accident! Or whatever Asmodeus is..."
Balin snaps out of the wistful mood he had gotten into. "I agree, I am a priest and generally agree that recreating summoning circles is a bad idea unless we know exactly what to expect.

Jove gathers the wooden snake, pick-up sticks, and alphabet blocks, snapping a pick-up stick in two in the process, leaving the dreidel, egg-shaped box and the imp nutcracker in the chest.
Harmony saw all the stuffed animals, a train set, and a dice inside the chest. She didn't think they related to what they needed to do as she left them be and closed the chest back up. Then she heard Jove, looking to see all the items having to do with that story. "But it might be the only option we have left to do. We can be prepared for if something comes or happens because of it though." she said back to everyone, knowing that this is their only clue.
"Let's see what we have here." Jove says as he takes the pickup sticks, wooden snake, alphabet blocks, marbles, and hair barettes, placing them in the pattern on the floor. He spells out ASMODEUS. He double checks to make sure a pickup stick is broken as to not start some ritual.
"Well it seems like there is some dark stuff going on with this little girl. The other highlighted things in the story relate to the City of the Dead. Maybe we should go back with the children, just to make sure they are safe."
DM, about the summoning circle thing on the back of the story. Is it drawn or painted on the back? Or is it printed like the text? If it is drawn, does the lettering look like an adult's or child's writing?
"Let's all be sure to be outside the circle as we complete it. That might help," Abraxas says. "The last thing we do ought to be to tip the letters of the blocks to spell the words around the outer edge of the circle. Maybe that will activate or complete it?" He looks at the map and then at the rug. Placing the head of the articulated snake at the head of the arrow on the map he curves the body of the wooden snake so it corresponds to curves on the map. Are there seven dots? Are there seven stuffed animals?
OOC: The symbol is drawn onto the back of the page, and does not look like a child's writing.
Be very specific about the placement of these objects and how you are placing them in the pattern. For now I will only resolve the snake's location on the rug.
Once the objects have been collected, Abraxas places the head of the snake at the head of the arrow on the page and curves it to match the arrow's body.
"Abraxas. I like what you are doing, but if this thing actually summons the fiend, Balin is right. We probably shouldn't do it. Much less in a celebrity's house. Here."
Jove hands the marbles to Balin, the hair barettes to harmony, the alphabet blocks to Halsen, leaves the snake with Abraxas, and takes the pickup sticks with him.
"I think we should regroup with the guard captain and check on the celebrity children. Something seems off that kids would have stuff to summon demons just laying around in their room. Does that sound good to everyone?"
[[OOC: So torn, as a player, I TOTALLY want us to summon a demon with children's toys, but Balin isn't sure he wants to confirm anything off with the kids.]]

"I understand wanting to wait," Abraxas says. He is slightly relieved. "Do you think we will be able to learn more from the children or the parents? There were those two names they mentioned, the two we never interviewed." He steps back out into the hall and turns in the direction of the captain.
"I can lead you back to the ballroom if you would like to question the Cassalanters some more," Captain Staget responds. He is interrupted by a silky feminine voice. A human woman leans in the shadows of the hallway, wearing fine leather armor. "It is unlikely that Asmodeus has contacted the young Cassalanter by accident," she says.
Jove introduces himself and the others to the woman. "I am Jove, and these are my cohorts, Balin, Harmony, Halsen, and Abraxas. We are investigating this occurrence, as you are. We have reason to believe the celebrity child was targeted directly as well."
Balin has a good point. "Do you happen to know what a Chernok or Brimtoe is? They may be fiendish names, one of which could be the imp that led the attack."
