Belialuin gets back up at 6 hp looking a little frazzled. He has a whole burned through his clothes from where the lightning hit. He says "It's really no trouble. That was, an, intense experience! I think you may have been on to something though"
"You look like you got hit pretty hard too"
(Thorum you do suffer half damage on save, so 12 dmg)
Thorum looks at the wisps of smoke from is clothing and smooths his hair "Yes I kind of did. Lesson learned. I assumed since it did not give the warning on my approach, elf blood may have been the key to the inscription "A balance of blood, and calling creature for aid" not sure exactly what that means. If we have to put equal amounts of blood in each cup could be something, but I am afraid we may not withstand another electrical strike."
Belialuin was able to discern that many were magical and formed some kid of protection spell. He and Thorum are the only ones who can read elvish. It's an old dialect though, and mixed with magic, so it's not so easy to understand.
I believe that if we put a drop of blood in the other cup to make it balance out it could work. I have a healing potion I can give someone if we want to try that path.
(Oh, noo. The dwarf is going who lit up the runes with crackling energy before he even left the pool before? Part of me wants to zap you just for fun :)
As Zarbof cuts his hand (take 1 dmg) Belialuin grabs him by the arm. "I really don't think that's a good idea. The runes started crackling before you even got close before."
Someone want to give me an insight or perception or similar?
Both Mysti and Thorum agree that sending Zorbof in isn't a good idea. Looking that statue and then at each other they both at the same time say "I / You have two hands. Maybe I / You should drip some blood from each hand into the cups at the same time"
Thorum hands off the healing potion to mysti. Stepping back up to the scales and cutting the other palm, thorum will squeeze both hands to get some blood lowingromthe cuts and drop equal amounts into each simotaniously so the balance is equal
(Sorry folks. Real life getting in the way of my D&D fun!)
Thorum you step up to the pedestal and cut your hands and drip equal amounts into the cups. One of the drops hits the cup first and for a split second you see the statue start to lean to one side but the other drop hits the cup in time to balance the statue out. It slowly sinks into the pedestal about an inch and you hear a click. Golden light starts spreading down the runes from the pedestal and travel outward until the whole room is alight in a golden glow.

Thorum tells the group "I apologize for endangering the group, I apparently do not know everything as I like to let on."

Does anyone want to weight in on this? The statue did shift in one direction when the blood went into the one cup.

Do any of the rest of us recognise the runes?

Sure, I'll do it!
Zarbof steps forward and runs the palm of his hand along the blade of his axe and lets some of his blood drop into the other cup.
