With a heavy sigh, Kjørynreis lifts the portcullis, by himself, once again. "This constant door lifting is getting tedious. Is there no way to just leave it open?"
"Time to find out." Cliste slips into the area with Lerikyn rather glad he is a gnome giving them some room to move around each other in the five by five area. "Let it down again and let me see what I can figure out being on the inside to look at all the different mechanisms here." She looks about. "Pressure plate and a lever that work to open one way or the other easily, but not both. This might take a few minutes."

"Mayhaps just look at the lock on the door," Lerikyn chimes in. "It's got to lock somehow, right?" He adjusts his position to allow her to look at the lock and nods for Kjørynreis to lower the portcullis. Once he does, he opens the door to allow her to inspect the mechanism and doorway fully. "Careful you don't go too far in, we don't know what other surprises await us."
Cliste takes a moment to look about and climbs to the top of the portcullis. Lerikyn can see her working one handed in a tiny gap. She has two of her tools clenched in her teeth and interchanges them as she works in the gap. She smiles as she feels the mechanism slip into another position. She drops down and works with the lever and plate until both doors are opened.
"That wasn't so hard. I bet the other three work the same way." She looks back up at the gap. "Pretty smart putting it up on the ceiling inside the portcullis. We will have to keep pressure on the plate to keep the portcullis up, but we can make it work without issues now." She steps on and off the plate making sure Lerikyn, thankfully small enough to stand in a corner, not accidentally be on it. The area wasn't really that bad to be in between her slim form and his size. She grins at the gnome as she makes the portcullis bounce up and down a little before holding the plate down so it opens all the way.
She looks out at Reis. "You won't have to do any strength training on a portcullis unless something interesting happens."
She laughs as she turns away to look into the room wondering what ancient dwarves buried with their dead. Passing it on to a son made far more sense to her. Why let good things waste away with a guy that would never use them again?
Cautiously, Kjørynreis, moves forward, noting that none of the group seemed eager to step into the room. "You all act like this place is going to be a death trap." he complained. Keeping his shield close to him, Kjørynreis steps into the room, at the ready.
"Cliste, follow close behind me," he ordered. "Your eyes are far better than me, though I can take a beating far better than you can, as we've already learned."
...you see a medium sized (15' x 15') room carved from golden marble. Its ornate columns, small statues, and central sarcophagus are cracked with age but are otherwise mostly intact. You see a few bronze-bound wenge wood strongboxes that look brand new. The lid on the sarcophagus is firmly fixed in place.

"Right behind you. Let's investigate the first strong box since they oddly look new. Do not touch the sarcophagus. Be ready for whatever happens next."
She slips into the room with Reis close at hand and stops to look at the first strong box.

Rea followed close behind the pair at the front, taking in the whole room. The sarcophagus immediately caught her eye, and the monk's curiosity got the better of her. She approached it and inspected it with the torch. The human didn't dare touch it, but she really wanted to know what was inside.
"Ah, this is not surprising. Dwarves always were overzealous about locking their chests of goodies." Cliste chuckled. "Be careful, Rea, we don't want him waking up like the skeletons. He might be a little meatier having had a sealed place to rest though it's been awhile since they put him there." Her voice is calm, maybe even a bit amused sounding, when she gives Rea the warning.
She returns to looking at the chest before her with its three key holes and rune inscribed wheels for the locking system. She gets up and inspects the other chests to see if they have the same exact setup.

Kjørynreis waltzes into the room, at first with shield raised and axe drawn, but he lowers them after seeing the two girls running around examining everything. Well, if they're not dead yet, then the room must be safe. Strapping his axe to his side, he gives himself a free hand to help them in whatever way he can.
"I'm uhh... used to just bashing things to get them open. But judging by the fancy locks and stuff, I'd say we might want to try a more delicate approach." He chuckles to himself, and adds, "A wise mentor, Kaldon the Bloodied Butcher, once told me that when hunting for eggs, a gentle hand will bring the food home better than a clenched fist."
"Careful of arcane wards," Lerikyn says, "These boxes are most likely so well preserved due to magics." Lerikyn keeps watch from the exit as the search continues.
Cliste chuckles at the exchange between the two as she returns to the first box. "Well, can you at least do a detect magic to verify that possibility? Though I bet the whole thing glows."

"Im pretty sure the whole room will glow, much like the corridor we came from, but alas... I have exhausted my supply and will have to ask the Goddess for more after a good night's rest." Lerikyn shrugs and says, "Either we attempt to open them or we don't. Pretty sure our options are as clear cut as that."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Oh for crying out loud..." Lerkyn says as he gets closer to Cliste. He pulls her back to the doorway and says, "Let me take a look at you."
As he examines Cliste he looks over to the others and says, "I'll leave it up to you all if you want to continue searching this room. I think we've learned that traps are a thing here, so be careful." (Medicine 15)
"Of course traps are a thing, little master gnome!" Kjørynreis teases. "This is a crypt afterall." Still, he didn't move: dungeon exploring was never his forte, as opposed to protecting and bashing... he was good at those things.
And healing. He could heal people as well. Making his way over to Cliste, he laid his shield down and placed his hands on her head. A soft white glow began to shine from his hands as he said, "Ilmater, grant this soul mercy and healing, that I might take away her pain and provide relief."
"To be honest, I'm still unsure as to why we're down here," Rea continued to walk around the room, looking but not touching. "It's hard to find something if you don't know what you're looking for." The monk glanced over at Cliste, but it was clear that between Reis and Lerikyn she would be fine.
All, it's a sad reality, but Classic Crawl: The Dungeon Under Citadel Adbar is closing its doors effective immediately. Thanks for being a part of this experiment!

"Well, might as well see what is in this one." She steps up to the first one and after looking at it a second starts trying to unlock it.
Instead, she feels something prick her in the hand. She falls back hard onto her rump.
A bit slurred. "Missed a trap." She looks rather calm other than a light sheen of sweat breaking out.
