Tulip determines that it is very dark at the bottom of the stairs. There is a web of narrow, dusty hallways, though she did not go far into them. There was a noise as well.
She did not go far enough to explore any rooms, though she did see one hallway open up into a room. There was some furniture visible in there, but no signs of life, as far as she went.
You did make it down unscathed! And the narrow, tightly turning staircase opens up into a nest of narrow hallways, each branching out in different directions.
And I have some exciting news for you all: We're back on Roll20! With proper-looking maps, that I don't have to create from other images every time!
Fope should find his vision is quite restricted now. It's dark down here. Those of you with dark vision can see reasonably well, but Ireena and Fope are struggling in the darkness. The candle sheds a little light, but not much.
Were the lanterns on the other floors attached to the wall, or could Føpé go and get one without too much difficulty? (assuming a monster doesn't eat him on the way.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Barnaby will take a torch from whoever has one and be ready to light it from the candle, but won't light it yet so as to try and remain more stealthefied. He will then follow as far behind Kif as possible while keeping him in sight.
I've moved you down the corridor to the south a bit. You're at a decision point. Hallways go to the east and west and split into small chambers on each side, and the hallway continues to the south, where it opens into a room with some stuff in it.
Fope, how do you want to deal with the wolf cub? He might follow you in the dark, but he might not. Will you consider using a makeshift leash? I wouldn't attach any penalty for it, and you could drop it at any time if you needed both hands for something.
Wow, Barnaby, that owl almost seemed to disappear, so quiet!
Føpé whispers, "It must know something you don't."

whelp, down the stairs we go
Lead the way Kif.
In the poor light, Føpé tries to look around Kiff, without exposing himself to the monster beyond, making for a very inefficient way of looking about.
Perception at disadvantage: 7
ok, so did we make it down to the basement unscathed?

Go have a look.

Anyone who has an explorer's pack or an adventurer's pack would have a torch. You can light one, if you want, but then you'll be carrying it.
we'll wait until Fope tries to get a torch, then I think we should head south to the pair of doors 10 feet down the hallway. Kif will try and be quiet

No torch in my pack
I don’t believe you.

true story, man, what do I need a torch for when I can see in the dark? Fope should be the one with torches in his pack, FFS
Well let's check out things to my left <stage whisper>, (to the east) provided Fope has some sort of light
Ben, were the lanterns upstairs attached to the walls?
On the Soft Plains, Føpé whispers, we don't have dark spaces like this.
You would think. And yet, he does not. This is something we discussed in advance. If nobody has a torch then there is no torch.
The lanterns were attached to the walls. They are fixtures in a fancy house.
