Erric gives a nervous smile at Anafrey on Ebokk's behalf. He moves to 11G, trying to flank the black crab with the suddenly assassin-like Maldorn with his rapier. He tries to shish kebab the crab...
Erric, as the crab leans forward after Jambiya's well-aimed shot, you thrust your rapier into one of its unprotected soft areas in its rear. The rapier sinks to the guard into the creature, and when you pull the weapon free, a large gush of crab juice is expelled. The creature seems to sway on its feet, then it collapses to the sand and jerks once before lying still.
The (purple) crab attempts to pinch Maldorn. (Claw attack: 9, damage: 2 bludgeoning damage) The hunter dodges the attack, but the second claw comes 'round. (Claw attack: 15, damage: 5 bludgeoning damage) Maldorn just barely escapes the attack, but he does.
The (green) crab crawls up to Ebokk and attempts to clamp down on the dwarf. (Claw attack: 4, damage: 6 bludgeoning damage) (Fumble roll: 1; 1) The claw clamps down on Ebokk's shield, and he wrenches it free, pulling hard on the creature's "arm" enough to cause it to hiss in pain, but it attempts to retaliate with its other claw. (Claw attack: 22, damage: 4 bludgeoning damage) As the dwarf is recovering from pulling his shield free, the crab's second claw clamps around the dwarf's middle. (Athletics: 19) Ebokk is able to use the point of his shield like a wedge and pry the claw open enough to escape.
The (red) crab crawls up to Erric and attempts to clamp down on the halfing. (Claw attack: 8, damage: 7 bludgeoning damage) At the last minute, the bard hears the creature and ducks. The first claws sails over his head, but the second comes in for another attack. (Claw attack: 20, damage: 6 bludgeoning damage) Bent over akwardly, Erric is unable to dodge the second claw, and it grabs him around the neck. (Acrobatics: 16) Erric does a crazy little flip over the claw, causing it to twist awkwardly, and it releases Erric's neck.
The four remaining crabs dash forward, but aren't able to attack yet.
"Good thinking, Seric!" Maldorn says as he moves to E-13. Now flanking Purple, Maldorn attempts to give it another poke:
-> Dagger vs. Purple: Attack: 16 Damage: 7 piercing.
If Purple still lives after the attack above, Maldorn attacks it once more with his bonus action. If Purple dies from the first attack, Maldorn instead moves to G-13 and aims his bonus action attack at the now flanked Blue.
-> Dagger vs. Purple/Blue: Attack: 20 Damage: 6 piercing.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Maldorn, you and I both need to be reminded that an offhand attack doesn't receive a damage bonus. I looked back at Anafrey's attack, and her offhand attack missed, so it doesn't affect what's happened since. Unfortunately, the second of your first double attack is reduced from 9 to 6 and the second dagger attack above is only 3, not 6. The retcons still worked out, in my opinion ... thankfully.
Maldorn dodges to his right to use his and Erric's positions to split the (purple) crab's attentions. Once ready, the hunter jabs forward with his first dagger. The blade leaves a long gash along the creature's vulnerable side, and it collapses as he continues around, ending up with the (blue) crab between him and Erric. The creature is, in fact, distracted by the bard, and Maldorn thrusts his other blade forward at the (blue) crab, leaving an oozing hole behind.
Two crabs down.
Anafrey steps forward (F10) and attempts to defend Ebokk by attacking the (green) crab. (rapier attack: 14, damage: 9 piercing damage; dagger attack: 6, damage: 4 piercing damage) (fumble: 12) Anafrey swings her rapier in a downward fashion, forgetting what she's attacking, and the blade hits with a jarring thud on the creature's shell. Her rapier breaks in half, and the blade spins through the air a little way down the beach. Ignoring her disappointment, Anafrey strikes with her dagger, this time getting in underneath the shell and cutting the creature.
Round 3: Jambiya, Ebokk, Erric, crabs (Blue and Green damaged), Maldorn, Anafrey
Jambiya will run on to the beach still shouting and carrying on in crab. "Your mothers were soft-shell suppers!" And she will let loose with another bolt of force magic.
Move: diagonally 15' until she is just on the beach and north of Ebokk. Action: Cast Eldritch Blast at the green crab attacking Ebokk. 8 to hit, for 1 magical force damage.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. Here's my D&D stuff. I love it so.
Jambiya, you quickly move from the tall grass onto the sand, releasing a blast of energy just as you emerge. Unfortunately, the sand is quite a bit softer than the dirt supporting by the roots of the tall grass, and your whole body pitches forward. Your arm aims lower than you planned, firing your eldritch energy into the sand between you and the nearest crab. A huge plume of sand flies into the air, but no one is hurt by it.
Ebokk slides between Anafrey and Erric (G10), taking a defensive posture and preparing to protect both the huntress and the bard with his shield.
He tries to nod at Maldorn in a battle-experienced way that seems like what warriors in stories might do. But he looks around and quails a bit as he sees that his squishy frame is almost surrounded by giant crustaceans.
He tries again to poke the blue crab with his rapier, hoping it works as well as it just did.
Attack: 20 Damage: 5
He'd like to urge his friends on to victory, but the extremely long, unending day outside and inside the haunted house is making him nervous about exhausting himself.
Still, looking up at the sand blasting between Jambiya and the group, he'll inspire her (add 1d6 to any roll you want in the next 10 mins) with a short ditty, emitted through gritted teeth:
"Hit crabbies with your best blast Why don't you hit them with your best blast Hit crustaceans with your best blast Yeah, fire away Dun nun, dun dun, dun nununununuNUN"

1=Erric, 2=Maldorn: 1
Erric takes advantage of Maldorn's distraction and rams the pointy end of his rapier into the (blue) crab's soft underside. It turns and attempts to grab the bard with its claw. (Claw attack: 12, damage: 3 bludgeoning damage) Erric ducks under the huge appendage. Here comes the second claw! (Claw attack: 14, damage: 3 bludgeoning damage) (Acrobatics: 16) Again caught of balance by his dodge, the halfling is unprepared to defend himself against the second claw. He clamps around his middle, grappling him.
1=Erric, 2=Maldorn: 1
The (red) crab attempts to steal Erric away from the (blue) crab. (Claw attack: 6, damage: 4 bludgeoning damage) The (red) crab was caught unaware and didn't move the bard away fast enough. (Acrobatics: 7) The (red) crab isn't able to hold on to Erric, however. But it tries with its second claw. (Claw attack: 10, damage: 6 bludgeoning damage) (Acrobatics: 17) Ebokk is clearly not paying attention! The (red) crab's claw bashes Erric on the back of the head, but the bard is able to escape getting caught in both of its claws.
1=Erric, 2=Ebokk: 2
The crabs are clearly jealous creatures! The (orange) crab also wants to steal Erric away, going after him with its first claw. (Claw attack: 4, damage: 7 bludgeoning damage) (Acrobatics: 13) The claw clamps down on his arm, but the (red) crab pulls him away, freeing his limb. It just about rips out of his shoulder sock, though. The poor halfling's almost passed out! (Claw attack: 11, damage: 2 bludgeoning damage) The second claw flies over Erric's head, but doesn't make contact.
1=Anafrey, 2=Ebokk: 2
The (green) crab takes a swipe at the dwarf. (Claw attack: 14, damage: 7 bludgeoning damage) Ebokk dodges out of the way. (Claw attack: 13, damage: 6 bludgeoning damage) With a grunt, he swings his shield, knocking the second claw away.
1=Erric, 2=Ebokk: 2
In an awful parody of children fighting over a toy, the (pink) crab scurries up (H10) and attempts to grab Erric as well. (Claw attack: 5, damage: 2 bludgeoning damage) With hardly any life left, Erric is doing quite a bit of flopping around in the (blue) crab's grip, so the (pink) crab's first claw misses completely. (Claw attack: 5, damage: 5 bludgeoning damage) Finally remembering that he's supposed to be protecting the poor bard, Ebokk's shield appears in front of the creature's second claw, deflecting it from making contact with Erric.
The (gray) crab makes a beeline for Maldorn (H13) and attempts to take his head off with its claw. (Claw attack: 17, damage: 3 bludgeoning damage) The nimble old man dodges the attack. (Claw attack: 15, damage: 3 bludgeoning damage) (Fumble: 7, 2) Maldorn is able to throw up both of his daggers, catching the second claw on the blades and harming the crab instead. It hisses in response and readies for the next attack.
Certainly! The feat says to do it before the outcome is known, but that's pretty much impossible on PbP. Here's one more attack roll for Red's second attack: 5. Hey, hey! Add back 6 hp.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC: Man, what a ride... Poor Erric!)
Maldorn tries to help Erric by dealing a hopefully deadly blow to Blue:
-> Dagger vs. Blue: Attack: 19 Damage: 4 piercing.
If Blue is still alive, Maldorn tries to poke it again. Otherwise, Maldorn instead uses his off-hand attack to try and skewer the clumsy one (Gray) right in front of him.
-> Dagger vs. Gray/Blue: Attack: 8 Damage: 2 piercing.
(OOC: I rolled the off-hand attack as if it was aimed at Gray, that is, without flanking advantage. In case Blue is still standing and the attack was aimed at it instead, here a second roll to account for that flanking bonus: 15.)
Erric, you're right. I guess I never subtracted red's first attack against you in Round 2. Phew!
Maldorn grits his teeth as he jabs forward with his first dagger. The (blue) crab is distracted, trying to keep the other crabs from stealing Erric away. The dagger cuts a huge gash in the creature's soft skin. It makes a kind of strangled cry and collapses, dropping Erric in the process, who lands on his back in the sand (prone). Not pausing to make sure Erric is OK, the hunter turns and makes a slash at the (gray) crab with his other dagger, but the creature is able to bat away his attempt.

"Son of uhH!" Anafrey would growl as she glances towards her broken blade after staggering in the sand after the shock of the failed blow. Wiping her long platinum hair from her eyes with the back of her hand, she will leap forward towards the crab with her broken blade and dagger, hoping to drive them both into the creature and pin it to the sand.
(OOC: now the rapier is reduced to just a hilt... I feel like it is the "men in tights" scene where the sticks they are fighting with keep getting smaller)
OOC: LOL! I'll fix this up later tonight, but did want to go ahead and mention that these are giant crabs, not regular-sized crabs. I imagine them to be able the size of a cow, only rounder and much more pinch-y.
OOC: I also love that you clearly said in the beach description "and oh yeah there are some giant crabs" :eyes emoji: and we were all like "oh yeah sure sounds perf normal let's ignore that and go look in the grass and hang out by the boat" and then the crabs were like "they're not taking us seriously, let's call in some reinforcements and try to murder them until they notice us." At least that must be how it unfolded. Says my brain.
Anafrey makes a wild lunge with her broken rapier, but not used to the altered weight of the weapon, she misses the crab completely. Her second attack, however, hits home, doing a little more damage to the (green) crab. (Don't forget, Wreckzors, that offhand attacks don't get the damage modifier. The damage on that dagger attack is 3, not 6.)
Round 4: Jambiya, Ebokk, Erric, crabs (Gray and Green damaged), Maldorn, Anafrey
(OOC I only added it because it looked like you had added it on the last set of attacks you did in the post where she first broke the sword. I wasn't sure if you had a special rule or something but now looking back I see that it was because of a crit and I am stupid!)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: We caught it later. Maldorn and I both did it there for a couple of posts and had to retcon the damage. No special rules. Just forgetfulness.
Jambiya's fingers crackle, and she lets go with another burst of green white energy at the (green) crab. (Eldritch blast: 21, damage: 1 force damage) Once again, the blast ricochets off the crab's hard shell.
Ebokk stands his ground, continuing to attempt to dodge attacks and also protect both Anafrey and Erric.
Erric gives a nervous smile at Anafrey on Ebokk's behalf. He moves to 11G, trying to flank the black crab with the suddenly assassin-like Maldorn with his rapier. He tries to shish kebab the crab...
