“As part of my training, it is required that I, and others like me, learn how to talk to people. No one is going to change their ways if I don’t know how to talk to them. So if you’d like, I can take the lead in the talking department.”
Tyrus looks up at the others in the party, especially the paladin, and says, "You all look so impressive that I think I should let you three go in first. No one will notice me slip in in the background and perhaps I will see things that they will keep hidden from the rest of you."
“I like that. How about we go in and start asking questions and you wait a beat and come in after start looking around. We will have drawn attention from you.”

Gash- Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
Briga enters, removing the bear cowl and shaking her hair out, smooths her skirt, and leans against a wall, and stares off, hoping to look confident and intimidating. She notices either some remnants of a sloppily eaten lunch, or troll fluids, on her blouse, and makes some attempts to clean it, sighing resignedly after a bit. "It's going to stain," she mutters to herself. "That's probably another shirt ruined. Is that blood, or jam? Do I taste it? What if it's troll blood? Is that poisonous? That would be a stupid way to die, Briga. Poisoned blouse troll goop. Don't taste it. No one's going to write a ballad about that death. Maybe a comedy song. You don't want to be immortalized as a joke. Perspective - I didn't break my glaive, the skirt and boots are intact, it could have been worse. Good Torm, though, I really can't have nice things. Good Bahamut? Just trying it out. Good thing I made friends with Tyrus the tinkerer. I'll be keeping him busy." She keeps to herself, talking to herself under her breath about trivialities, unless the interaction seems to call for her intervention.
Whether or not he actually hears the words she says, Griff puts and hand gentle on her shoulder and smiles the best a Dragonborn can.
“Shall we?”
Griff walks passed his new friend and approaches the barkeep.
“Two drinks. For me and my friend here.” He gestures to Briga. “And I will generously overpay for both of those drinks if you can give me a bit of information on a friend of mine who went missing.”
Once Briga and Griffdar have entered, Tyrus will move a little away from Arlon so the two of them don't look as though they are together. He will then look up and down the street using his Darkvision to look for any observers [Perception check: 14 ].
As you continue down to an alley that runs between Net Street and Fillet Lane, just a little bit further down than Old Xoblobs, is the Skewered Dragon. The place looks like a ruin. Both of its front-facing windows are smashed, and there's a ship's anchor lodged in the roof. Looking through the windows, you can see a group of haggard patrons drinking from tankards twice the size they should be drinking from.
When you enter the tavern, everyone turns briefly to look at you enter. The barman wiping a large glass with a dirty rag. Putting the glass down and getting another one from the bar, he pours you each a drink as you pass over the coins. After a few moments, everyone's attention goes back to their own business, but Tyrus can still feel that everyone is watching them. This place is seedy, and the atmosphere here makes it clear as to why.
When you ask for extra information the barman nods. "A friend who went missing? It's a big city, who's your friend?" he asks carefully, all of the room turning an eye toward the conversation. With you in the room is the barkeep and four patrons, a ship's captain, and three dock workers. When the barkeep walks, you can hear the sound of wood knocking on wood suggesting he has a wooden leg.
After paying for his drink [OOC: how much?], Tyrus will move away from the others pretending he doesn't know them. If someone asks what he's doing, he will go into his tinker spiel and ask if they have any blades they need sharpening [Deception roll, if necessary: 22 ].

“A man called Floon” he says in a hushed tone. “This is last known location. Surely, you remember him he is [physical description] and he was here with the famous author, Volo.”
He presses a gold piece on the counter and keeps his claw on top of it.
Taking the gold piece placed on the desk, the barkeep nods "I did see someone come in with Volo the other day, a pretty boy, dressed well," he said "but he didn't leave with Volo," he added.
"He stuck round a bit, met with someone else - the son of whatshisface, Neverfire or something?" one of the patrons watching chimes in.
"Neverember" says another, correcting the first. "Chip off the old block, that one!" he says. A third patron snorts as that comment is made. "Just another spoiled, rich noble who likes to rub our noses in it!" he retorts.
"Well," says the barkeep, bringing your attention back to him. "The two of them had a couple of drinks, played a few games of Three-Dragon Ante, and left about midnight. Five men followed behind 'em. Went down the street and that's the last I saw of any of them," the barkeep finishes. The fourth patron, one of the dock workers, chimes in "I see 'em hanging around a warehouse on Candle Lane quite a bit, there's a snake symbol on the door," he adds to conclude.
(Ooc: the men that followed floon hang out in the warehouse? Sorry lots of pronouns just want to clarify)
”You know,” he says to the barkeep as he lifts his claw off the gold. “He earned that for you. Would you send him his next round on the house if you don’t mind?”

(OOC: Yes, the guys following Floon hang out at that warehouse).
When the patrons had finished giving information, they seemed to turn their attention back to their own drinks once more, the rest of the tavern having lost interest in you. The only one that seems to be keeping an eye on you is the barkeep, and that the patrons in the bar would follow whatever he says.
"I'll see to it" the barkeep replies to Griffdar simply and goes back to wiping the same glass he was when you first came in with the same dirty rag.
“Thank you kindly.” Griff opens his maw and downs his drink in one shot. “You’ve been so helpful. Could you point us in the direction of a place to grab a decent night sleep?”

"I have some rooms available," the barkeep says, "though it's nothing special, but not worse than anything else you'd get in the Dock Ward." he said honestly. "2 shards a room, and we've got two available" he anticipated the question of prices on that.
Before agreeing to anything Griff eyes the room using his Divine Sense
The presence of strong evil registers on your senses like a noxious odor, and powerful good rings like heavenly music in your ears. As an action, you can open your awareness to detect such forces. Until the end of your next turn, you know the location of any celestial, fiend, or undead within 60 feet of you that is not behind total cover. You know the type (celestial, fiend, or undead) of any being whose presence you sense, but not its identity (the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich, for instance). Within the same radius, you also detect the presence of any place or object that has been consecrated or desecrated, as with the hallow spell.

Tyrus sits quietly at his own table sipping his drink and wonders again why he is paying Durnam 5 shards a night to stable his mule.
He also wonders why an obviously rich dragonborn would have any interest in spending the night in such a disreputable place as this.
But he says nothing and pretends to pay no more than passing attention to Griffdar and the others while keeping a secretive watch on the other patrons in the taproom.
[OOC: DM, I'll assume the previous roll I made for Perception/Insight is still in effect, or that you'll use my passive scores, but let me know if you want me to make new rolls at anytime.]
