You continue down the path for about an hour and a half more, the dim sky beginning to darken as the Old Slavich Road meanders into a valley, watched over by dark, brooding mountains to the north and south. The woods recede, revealing a sullen mountain burg surrounded by a wooden pallisade. Thick fog presses up against this wall, as though it's looking for a way inside, hoping to catch the town aslumber.
The dirt road you've been following continues to the west but has no signpost to say what's there. There is also a path to the north that is signposted to lead to Lake Sarovich, and the path to the south, where this town lies, is signposted Vallaki, before ending at a set of sturdy iron gates with a pair of shadowy figure standing above them. Planted into the ground to the south, and leading up to the gate, flanking either side of the road that approaches, are about six pikes which have wolves' heads impaled on them.
Ebur replies: I can tell you little I'm afraid. I have little to do with settled places and their people. No place in Barovia that I know of is truly safe from the devil Strahd, and there are those who support him. But there are also those who do not, and it may be that you find here the aid you seek.

Vrak reigns in at the crossroads and reads the signpost. Listening to the others he considers their options.
"It's getting later in the day. The village would be a good place to go, spend the night and see what we may hear. We declare our true intents to no one. We do not know who is friend or foe. We are travellers on the road seeking shelter for the night. In the morning we can explore what is north and decide what to do."
If no one has any objections he will turn south to the gates and dismount, approaching the guards on foot.
"Hail and well met. My companions and I seek shelter for the night. Can you direct us to the closest inn?"
The figures look down in your direction and take up a defensive stance, as you ask about the inn one of the voices calls down to the group. "How do we know your not with the Devil Strahd?" one of them ask.
"I suppose I could ask the same thing of you. I am a traveler here and we only seek rest from a weary day. I can assure you though that I, a knight and servant of Bahamut, am not in league with any devil of Avernus, and I know of no devil named Strahd. Though I do understand the lord of these lands is named Strahd. If he is the same man I was unaware that he is a devil. Yet I am not with the lord of this land either. I vouch for my companions as well. May we enter your village and seek shelter from this oppressive fog and the coming darkness?"
Sova attempts to hide behind someone so he can cast Disguise Self on himself to look like a Barovian he's seen back in Barovia. Then he will explain to the gate guard that these people are escorting me from Barovia to Vallaki.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Roselina would have followed Vrakvroth, agreeing about going to the village and spending the night. She saw the guards, listening to Vrak ask for permission to enter their village. "Yes, we are just travelers that have wandered around for quite some time. We're so hungry and tired, needing some place to sleep just for the night. It's too dangerous for us to sleep out in the wilderness, won't you please let us into your village?" she also pleaded to the guards, looking up at them with innocent watery eyes.
"That's exactly what someone in league with Strahd would say," the other guard says. "I'm not sure, they don't look like the pale-skins that usually follow him," the one that spoke to the group says. "What if he controls them?" the same voice as the first one counters. This goes on for about ten minutes. "OK, well the city is getting ready for the Festival of the Blazing Sun so no trouble from any of you, or we'll have to deal with it," the one that originally spoke to you says, and the gates open allowing access, but they both watch you with caution as you enter.
Quilrith trots along next to Vrak looking wide eyed at the strange fortified town, "Nice place you have here!" He says to the Guards as they pass, aparently oblivious to their Glares.
"Hmph" one of the guard replies to the compliments. One thing is for sure, nobody seems to be in a festive spirit, and everyone around seems to misrable. You head further into the town of Vallaki, and ask around to find a tavern, where you are given directions toward the center of town and the Blue Water Inn.
Grey smoke issues up from this large, two-story wooden building that has a sagging tile roof, sitting on hard stone foundations. A congress of ravens have perched on the roof of the building. A painted wooden sign hanging above the main entrance depicts a blue waterfall. This is the sign you were told to look for in regards to finding a tavern.
Ebur stops and stares at the ravens, watching them, and listening to them, cocking his head back and forth as he does so. It is several moments after the others enter the tavern that he joins them.

Quilrith looks up at the tavern inspecting the structure, placement of Windows and possibilities of climbing before running his hands together to fend of the cold and enters the tavern, smiling and chatting to the others in the party.
Finding the inn Vrak tethers his horse in front and the steps into the inn. He pauses in the doorway a moment and takes in what he sees. He'll then head for the desk and ask about lodging as well as stabling for his horse.
Roselina hears as the guards argue for a bit before finally letting them in, mentioning that the city is getting ready for the festival of the Blazing Sun, how they'll deal with them if they cause trouble. "Thank you." she said back with a nod, following the others as they walk into town. She was confused to see that no one seemed to be festive or happy at all even though the guards had mentioned that the town was getting ready for a festival. Eventually they got directions to the Blue Water Inn that is in the center of town, going there and seeing how old and run-down the place is. She enters inside the tavern after Vrak, glancing around to see the kind of people here and how they are feeling. Roselina will either go to a bartender, server, or whoever seems to be the best dressed/the most noble-looking out of the bunch and approach them, introducing herself in a friendly manner and asking about who might be in charge of this city.

Ebur wonders what is this 'blazing sun' is they are talking about. He has only known cloudy skies, fog and mist.
He enters the town nervously, having never set foot in an actual town before.

"We thank you for your kindness."
He says as he passes them by.
