Sildar, comes out of the inn, heading round the building, surprised to see Salazar, and two people he had yet to meet, and neither of them were Ryner. Upon seeing the Goblin, Sildar, now wearing a full set of armor, and a less extravagant, but still fine sword. Which he Drew, upon seeing Lark, the goblin.. Bringing the sword to the Goblins throat. Rage clearly written on his face. Divine light began flowing into the blade What are you doing here? Looking around, Seeing Salazar again Were we followed? Did they not keep their word afterall? And now they're suing disguises?
(Sorry for the delays, life. WIll be on most of the night to respond to make up for it)!
Larks begins to greet the person approaching, "Good morningahhh......" The greeting cut short by Sildar's blade.
"Hold good ser knight, I would argue my worth before you cut me in two. I present no danger to you and yours, in fact I was just offering my services as a learned scholar and linguist. I am related to one of that band you so mercifully liberated from that wretched beast, uh related distantly might I add. You are the one my cousin wrote about, are you not? The human captive. That was rather unpleasant sort of business, which I assure you I was not a party to, else I would have lobbied on your behalf. Um... Please, Master Salazar, a spot of help?"
Lark turns his head, eyes pleading, toward Salazar; Well, as far as he is able with a blade against his throat and pinned against the wagon by Sildar's armored bulk.
Seeing the fire of hatred in Sildar's eyes, Lark closes his eyes and begins mumbling what sounds like a prayer, or maybe a poem
"It was her voice that made, the sky acutest at its vanishing, she measured to the hour its solitude, she was the single artificer of this world, in which she sang. She sang the sea, whatever self it had, became the self, that was her song, for she was the maker. then, we, as we beheld her striding ther alone, knew that there was never a world for her, except the one she sang and, singing, made."
He raises his head and steels himself in expectation of a killing blow.
Sildar seemed confused at first, The goblin was far too well spoken, and goblins weren't known for their pleading, especially so poorly. The sword went to the goblins chin. Lifting it up, before bapping softly on Larks nose. My apologies, young...... Goblin. he finished, not knowing the mans name yet. Sighing, Sildar says But you're clearly not a threat if thats the best you can try to persuade me. But again, I apologize. I'm sure you can understand my reaction. he says, sheathing his blade. The light that was there, fading from it. He no longer recognized you as a threat, not because you were too fierce, but you'd left the impression you weren't smart enough to be one.
Regardless, Sildar bows to the goblin, before sighing, clearly releasing pent up stress. Then, to Salazar Apologies again.. I suppose you and this man, and this other one here? Lastnight, I went to a friend, a local. I was able to secure some armor as you can see. I was also able to recover some funds for your group but.. it seems as though you're the only one left. So.. here you go. Sildar hands Salazar a coinpurse filled with 150 GP. As thanks for saving me from that fate. I am still ashamed. But, Let us have breakfast and get our goods. I've asked someone I can trust to watch it. I'm sure you're famished, and the meal will be on me. And for the Goblin, an apology, as well as the other person. I have a request to make and It seems you three are the hand fate dealt me. After that, I will go with you to turn in the goods. Sound like a plan?
Between Alynoa's request and Salazar's narrow minded focus on trying to figure out how to explain the differences between a wolf and Warg, the more human of the two self-proclaimed scholars is far too buried in his own thoughts to even realize the fast growing incident! He comes out the deeply knitting of brows and chin rubbing appearing positively estatic over something or other. "Oh! Good morning, Sir Sildar." He says, taken aback at the 'suddenly' there agent.
Although the smile falters at the reminders of Anders and Ryner, a ghost of one remains in place for a time. "I still believe I hardly deserve any credit, sir. But, you're right. A nice meal would do us some good." Salazar pockets the coin now to count up and distritbute later, then hops out out the wagon. "Before we go in, just to... or maybe... I'll say it now. I would like to introduce formally introduce you to Lady Alynoa, and... 'Old Lark', I think I heard?" He asks, and at that point lets the others more fully introduce themselves before following along after Sildar into the Inn. "Oh, and.. by the way, Lady Alynoa. Frankly speaking, the pay will be a bit up in the air given circumstances. But it will always be an even split between the three of us. But expect quite a bit of coin." He had stepped back to at least whisper to her on their way inside.

Sildar shakes his head Unless one of the people in the fine establishment was a recent rescue such as myself, I doubt it. And should it occor, on my honor I will shield you as best I can. I am recovered, but still sore. And greetings to you, Lady Alynoa, Apologies but I did not give myself time to ask names, so I thank young Salazar for assisting me in my manners. Shall we proceed?
After Alyn responds, A pair of people who look like mercenaries, come around the corner, Sildar informing you that those are the men he spoke of to belay Salazars fears of theft, and would then proceed to head into the inn, Paying for four meals, though making the order all the same. An Omlette Du Fromage, side of bacon & sausage, with plenty of bread to spare. And light ale, but not swill. Trying to keep everyone sober. (if you drink more than 3 cups, roll a con save, DC 10 or become drunk)
Sildar, sitting at the table, waiting patiently until the rest arrive.
If/once they join him, he would begin speaking between small bites of his food, as to not be rude, but still sate his hunger. As I said before, I am with the Lords Alliance. I was sent out here to investigate something going on in this town. It appears someone has setup shop in the town of some prowess. This may sound cold, But I cannot search for Gundren... My duty binds me here until such a time as he returns me to his employ. Such is the politics of being a member of the Alliance.. as much as I wish to go.. I am duty bound. I have to investigate to find my old friend Iarno Albrek who has been missing for some time. So as you can see, i am between two missing friends, and trapped by Duty. It would honor me if you would assist me in this, and as I promised before, I could induct you into the Alliance, should you prove successful and desire it. And I extend this offer to you both as well. There may also be people here who know of the location of this Castle the Goblins spoke of.... but you would have to ask around town and see what you could trudge up.
At the serving counter, a young human male stands, cleaning glasses and dishes as they come in. Soft whispers of personal conversations go on around the group, though none are conspiratorial. (DC 16 to hear)
As whoever responds to Sildars words, he continues eating until such a time as a reply is needed.
Alynoa picks at the food slowly, thinking about the proposal. Quite a bit of coin could mean any number of things. Then there was the Lords Alliance. "Forgive me for asking, but what is the Lords Alliance. I've never heard of it before." She reaches for her shoulder and pets Fagin absentmindedly, feeding him a bit of bread while contemplating what all was happening. "I haven't been in the area for very long to know the name of what seems to be such an important organization."
Sildar grunts, saying, The long and short is: The Lords’ Alliance is a coalition of rulers from cities and towns across Faerûn (primarily in the North), who collectively agree that some solidarity is needed to keep evil at bay. The rulers of Waterdeep, Silverymoon, Neverwinter, and other free cities in the region dominate the Alliance, and every lord in the Alliance works for the fate and fortune of his or her own settlement above all others. So you could say we are a coalition of towns, and cities that wish to aid the weak and defenseless, with the only catch being we protect our own before others. But we have networks all throughout Faerun, I am simply an agent from Waterdeep myself.
Lark quietly picks at his food, assured by Sildar but still nervous. He is pointedly ignoring the ale. He is uncharacteristically silent during the exchange between Sildar and Salazar, and looks thoughtful.
He is roused by the description of the Lords Alliance, and seems to be very interested.
"Now that is the stuff of legends! Entire countrysides banding together to battle a world threatening evil. An evil so wretched that petty squabbles are put aside and common enemies are joined in brotherhood."
Lark suddenly leaps on his chair, brandishing a spoon like a rapier, and begins to do battle with an imaginary beast.
" Up to the noble master sped, The youth, with firm but modest tread; The people followed with wild shout, And stood the landing-place about, While thus outspoke that daring one: My knightly duty I have done. The dragon that laid waste the land, Has fallen beneath my conquering hand. The way is to the wanderer free, The shepherd o'er the plains may rove; Across the mountains joyfully, The pilgrim to the shrine may move."
Lark sheathes his "sword," bows and plops back into his seat. Performance19 (Just for Laughs)

Alynoa sighs at the spectical, "I suppose I can be of help as well, so long as the goblin can learn to be quiet when quiet is necessary. The work I do doesn't necessary work very well with loud boisterous calls of here I am. Though I can see the benefit of it." She pulls a heavy spellbook out of her bag, "Though I do warn you, my form of fighting doesn't involve swords. I hope that's okay. I've met many parties who think spell casting should be left for healers."
(Top of the order, as it may be determine some things. Nice Dexter's Laboratory reference earlier Rai, btw. Will have to come back to edit this later.)
Having heard most of Sildar's story before, Salazar's main focus had been divided between consuming his meal daintly and guaging the other's reaction to the story. At one point it may even seem as if he's distracted by something else as well. Something that warranted him muttering some sort of prayer to a "Wise One" while cocking his head as if trying to listen to something. He does take an ale for himself at some point as well, but hasn't drunken any as of yet. Eventually returning his attention back on the conversation at hand, he blinks owlishly at Lark's antics, and squints later at Alynoa.
It takes a few moments, but eventually understanding flashes across his features. "You already no most my stance on the matter, Sir Sildar, as far as membership go. And I fear it has yet to change. But if we come across any details about your comrade Iarno, we will do what we can to either pass it along or even follow-up on it." He starts nervously tapping his two indexes fingers together. "That said, I am obligated to prioritize Gundrun's safety. So unless at the time our new compatriots here wish to further delve into the matter, assistance on that front may be limited. But you /will/ have our support... On the subject of report-" Salazar pulls out the coin pouch again for a peek. His turns flush -- as much as the dark-skinned tone allotted anyways -- at the sight.
"Oh dear... uhm... uh-hum... This is... okay... So remember the even split mentioned earlier?" Salazar asks Lark and Alynoa, but doesn't wait for an answer before doiling out 50 gp to them each before pocketing the remainder. "Though you played no part in the delivery, I feel it is only fair you recieve at least a starting bonus for any aid provided. I'm... not much of a fighter myself, truth be told. But whether it is through words or... the alternative, know any aid you all provide will be much appreciated. And I will do my best in turn."
Alynoa nods and takes the gold, pocketing it and returning her spellbook to her bag. "I'll make sure to keep an ear out for any information on this Iarno. I would hate for anyone to lose an ally and just not know who they are. Of course I'd be interested in tracking him down for you, but I'd prefer my new allies go with me so I might be out of luck with that." She finished her meal and carefully wiped her mouth, before taking the rest of the bread she had saved and giving it to Fagin, who has by this point moved to sitting on the table the rest of them are sitting at.
(I'm getting an oddly humored vibe from larks and alynoa's interactions)
Several sacks of coins are thrown nicely at the feet of Lark, totalling 9 GP for his raucous performance. Cheering for a short time, and the Innmaster bringing him one of the better ales the house had to offer before departing.
Sildar chuckled softly, offerign a clap of his own at Larks performance, and chuckling yet again at Alynoa's reaction. Well atleast it seems I may recieve some aid in my search. Until it is complete, I am trapped here. So then, I must ask you to also seek out Gundren for me, and make sure he is safe. I would suggest going around town and collectign information both on Cragmaw castle, and any whisperings of Iarno. It may seem unwise to delay, and as much as I hate to make him wait any longer, rushing in blind is no better an option. My offer will always stand, so long as I yet breathe, and that was assisted by Anders, Ryner, and Salazar he says, patting the man on the shoulder here. If you do find anything abotu Iarno, if nothign else I can give you another fifty gold for your services.
Also Lady Alynoa. Praytell consider this. While he may be boisterous, and this may... somehow effect you, the shadow cannot exist without the light. and the light would be unknown if not for the shadow. While I try to avoid stealth tactics myself for my own reasons, if they are distracted by him they are less likely to notice you. Keep that in mind! he would say clearly just trying to give advice.
At this point, you may attempt to interact with NPC's in the tavern, or seek them out throughout the town, as soon all the shops will be open and the town will be ready for business. Continue talking to sildar, etc. YOu may split up if you wish, I giure you guys can take 1-2 days in the town, discover stuff, etc, before I consider moving forward.
Salazar nods solemnly in agreement, if albeit more at the first point. The second one -- even though not directed at him -- left the scholar scratching a scraggly white beard still coming in, then glancing off in the direction of the conversing young man and those around him. "...There is still the matter of the deliver itself. While the mercenaries are appreciated, Sir Sildar, leaving a job unfinished next to the proverbial finish line does not sit well with me."
He said, turning back to the group. "It will also be an opportunity to poke Barthen's brains on a few things as well. Things Mister Gundrun might not have been as keen to share with you."He smiles apologetically to Sildar before looking to Lark and Alynoa. "While I deal with that. You two can focus on asking around the tavern about the castle, what's been going on as of late, and maybe about a temple too in the area to start? That... last one is more for me, to be honest. But knowing or at least confirming where one might be would be much appreciated. Not to mention places like those usually have records to peruse. Then, we can.. uh... just meet outside of here?"
(I'm suggesting the split more so just to cover more ground faster given the psuedo-time limit. But if people wish to stay together, than that's fine and we can start by talking up the people at the tavern.)
"Sounds good to me Master Salazar. I've an errand to run anyhow. Should we branch out around the town, different folks different stories?"
Lark excitedly begins casting about looking for a good place to start asking people. He spins a slow circle and casts his glance back at the table. "Masters Salazar and Sildar, Madam Alynoa, I bid you all a fond day and shall see you forthwith."
He will approach some of the the locals and begin swapping stories, steering the conversations slightly towards the topics of the Castle and recent events. Persuasion4 . If people are reticent about speaking about it offer them a footnote credit for the story in the book Lark is writing about the subject Deception17.

Alynoa nods at Sildar's reply, "I suppose that is true. I just detest what looks to me like attention for attention's sake. But I'll be sure to keep that in mind. I do have a few things to attend to first, I need to acquire a diamond for one of my spells, but after that I'll look around for the temple you're looking for. If I'm not back in a timely matter look around the square. You'll most likely find me there."
Alynoa leaves and looks around for a shop that is selling a diamond worth around 50gp for Chromatic Orb. While looking for that shop, she also looks around for anyone who looks like they wouldn't miss a few gold pieces and might be interested in playing her favorite dice game. (going to assume that would be Perception11)
A lean and balding human male shopkeeper of fifty years with a kindly manner seems to shuffle about the store, though once Salazar enters, he is immediately greeted W-Why hello there! Welcome to Barthens Provisions! I'm Elmar Barthen. It's a pleasure make your acquaintance Mr..... he says, waiting for Salazar to introduce himself, before continuing. How can we be of service to you today? We don't sell any weapons, but we do have supplies for those seeking to travel!
He employs a couple of young clerks O-oh and these are my apprentices, Ander and Thistle! They help me around the store when I can't be here. Please, don't hesitate to ask for anything!
Lark paints the Town
Lark makes his way out of the tavern, seeking people who seem to stand out just a bit more than the average everyman. However, his attempts to speak with most everyone fall on deaf ears, as just seeing him scares most of the townsfolk away just as he'd begin to speak. Somehow, Larks luck with words since he arrived here seemed to be cursed (by nat 1's) But some souls were hardier of spirit.
As lark made his way 7 towards the town-masters hall, after having been shunned by most of the populace. He walked in on Sildar and Presumably the townmaster himself.
The townmaster’s hall has sturdy stone walls, a pitched wooden roof, and a bell tower at the back. Posted on a board next to the front door is a notice written in Common. It reads: REWARD — Orcs near Wyvern Tor!Those of a mind to face the orc menace should inquire within. The notice bears the town’s seal and an indecipherable signature.
The townmaster was a Male human, a fat, pompous old fool. Stuttering anf flustering about as he spoke, what would appear to be, cordially with Sildar, for the most part. As you enter, Sildar smiles, welcoming oyu. At first the townmaster seems incredulous Did you not just inform me you had been attacked by goblins and yet you welcome one who walks in with such open arms?! Are you daft? Poppycock Whatever. If Sildar vouches for you then I will simply blame him if you cause trouble. Indeed I did Harbin. But I made the same mistake as you when first meeting him. Mister Lark, I was just discussing Cragmaw with the townmaster. It appears he has heard of it, and has even given me a rather crude map that you can use to find it. He does however say he has a condition. He wants you to deal with a band of orcs that have been attacking a nearby area before he is willing to give up it. I've also found out from him that there is a small gang terrorizing this town T-They're not really a threat at all.. I assure you we have the situation under control!
That's now how it sounded when you told me a moment ago. Quit trying to save face.
Alynoa does Phandalin
(OOC - I'm not going to make you waste all your gold on a diamond for a single cast. As per my rules, an item of similar compositure, so a common crystal, i will allow to work etc.)
Alynoa eventually finds a small gem merchants stall in the middle of town, sellign various ores, gems, crystals, and other similar paraphanelia. Ranging from a few gold each, to 10 gold. (1/2 a GP per crystal or if you're feeling extravagant, 10 gold for a more precious gem, though it makes no difference which you buy *in regards to spellcasting*)
After which Alynoa begins looking for an area to begin arm wrestling, and decides to setup near the center of town, as that has the most traffic passing through it. and A local stallkeeper with a side table is willing to let you setup there. as the spectacle would bring more customers his way.
to streamline this, You will essentially play against yourself.
Rules for this are fairly simple.
You will roll a1d100, for yourself, Marked with A
And roll a 1d100 for the NPC. Highest roll wins. Single round games.
A minimum of 5 GP per bet.
You may go against up to 7 NPC's before they stop, and each NPC will only play 1 game with you max.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Occassional Dungeon Master.
" Up to the noble master sped, The youth, with firm but modest tread; The people followed with wild shout, And stood the landing-place about, While thus outspoke that daring one:
My knightly duty I have done. The dragon that laid waste the land, Has fallen beneath my conquering hand. The way is to the wanderer free, The shepherd o'er the plains may rove;
Across the mountains joyfully, The pilgrim to the shrine may move."
Lark sheathes his "sword," bows and plops back into his seat. Performance 19 (Just for Laughs)
"I, for one, am in, " and after a few breaths, "If they'll have me."

Occassional Dungeon Master.
Things Mister Gundrun might not have been as keen to share with you." He smiles apologetically to Sildar before looking to Lark and Alynoa.

Persuasion 4 . If people are reticent about speaking about it offer them a footnote credit for the story in the book Lark is writing about the subject Deception 17.
Either way at some point during the day, Lark will purchase a light crossbow and 40 bolts.

(going to assume that would be Perception 11)

Salazars Day Out
A lean and balding human male shopkeeper of fifty years with a kindly manner seems to shuffle about the store, though once Salazar enters, he is immediately greeted W-Why hello there!
It reads: REWARD — Orcs near Wyvern Tor! Those of a mind to face the orc menace should inquire within.
