Eeek, his courage having fled curses under his breath and stands up to head to the bar to get another drink and to find a towel to try and clean up his shirt.
I'd like to look around and see if I notice anything out of the ordinary, other than the other Aaracokra in the room
It seems like a pretty standard day at the Inn, although a little more upbeat than you would normally find. There are very few despondant loners drinking at the bar.
Quark’s knife clatters loudly. She doesn’t seem to notice. She takes her time to carefully untuck and fold her napkin while scanning the room for the other Aarakokra she‘d seen earlier.
Hopefully her feathered brethren hadn’t heard the xenophobe.
18Perception or 16Insight
Quark is able to spot Eek pretty quickly, who is attempting to hide behind a table in the corner, poorly, with his tail feathers very clear visible. Giant birds in a bar are hard to mistake, even when trying to hide
Looking at Pringles and Korik, the bartender wipes the spot in front of them clean. "Haven't seen you two before. The name is Lankus, Lankis Kurrih. Used to be a soldier in Keoish army until I took an arrow in the knee. They treated me well though, and gave me enough to be able to buy this Inn so I can make a new life. Never been much of a fisherman though. What brings you here? Are you here to seek the 'Hidden Hoard' of 'Haunted House of Saltmarsh'?" he says, rolling his eyes. "Bunch of rubbish if you ask me"
Well met, Lankus. I am Korik of the ... well, I am Korik. I was freed by some of your marines and brought to this town. I am in this building because I am hungry and thirsty and in need of distraction. Maybe this rubbish you talk of will distract me some more... what is this Hidden Hoard and Haunted House you speak of?
"Don't know much about it myself. Sounds like pure rubbish to me. I'm fairly new to Saltmarsh, came in when the Dwarves; Figured the mining outfit would lead to a lot of travellers and mean good money.. House has been there far longer than me. I heard about from Tommy Oliver. Used to be a ranger but now he's just an old, broken-down poacher. You can find him at the Snapping Line most of the time. It's a slapdash Inn downtown, nowhere near the quality of the WIcker Goat. It'll pass for a watering hole though I suppose. Cross the Sharkfin Bridge out there and you shouldn't be able to miss it. Faun over there is a local and should know where it is. Might show you for a price!" Lankus nods at Faun as he points her out, giving her a smile. "The handsome fella over there, Jayson, knows him at least a bit. Could point him out to you. He's a bit persnickity and a traditionalist but he's an alright sort, when he's not drunk and ranting about outsiders."
"HEY JAYSON, THESE GENTS ARE LOOKING FOR TOMMY" he shouts across the bar.
You hear some groans from some of the other patrons and some mumbling under their breath. Lankus speaks again "Oh don't give me that folks, they asked. I just told 'em"
In a lower voice to the pair:
"The Dwarves keep me in the know about things so if yer looking for work, let me know and i'll see if they've got something that needs done. Eliander is the Captain of the Guard -- great man, helped me organize getting the Inn. He usually needs some help with stuff too, over at Hoolwatch Tower"
Eeek perks up at the mention of the Hidden Hoard, is this a way to finally free himself?
Had anyone on the pirate ship who had enslaved him ever mentioned this Hidden Hoard?

For Eeek only
You heard some of the pirate's talking about the house, and you know roughly where it is. The Captain made it clear to the navigator that they were to avoid it, but no mention of treasure was made
Pringles shouts in excitement and then quickly realizes about the house being haunted:
“Hidden hoard!?! Woo! ...wait, haunted!?! AH! Where’s a Paladin when you need’em!”
Pringles checks his pockets for a book and feathered ink pen but realizes that he doesn’t have them. Pringles let’s out a quick aggravated sigh and starts making mental notes of some of the people in the bar that might be the adventuring type.
He mumbles to himself:
“2 bird people. Blonde lady talking with a scruffy man”
Pringles looks up at his new found barbarian friend and proceeds to mumble some more:
“Who’s the tank: (barbarian)
What’s the mage: (scruffy human??)
I Dunno’s the priest: (probably blonde lady)
Oooo that’s pretty balanced!”
Pringles looks shocked that he blurted out the last few words. Pringles turns his attention back to Lankis and Korik.
“Oh, pardon my manners Lankis! Great to meet you and sorry about your knee! It’s good that the army looks after their own and bought this place for you! Ah...what a great place for food and drink! What Korik said, tell us more! Also, can you show us where it is on a map?
Oh! Also, also, where’s the blacksmith and is there a magic merchant here?”
(sorry about the no colours. I tried highlighting the text but then my phone scrolled uncontrollably and I can’t get what I want to highlight. Sorry!)
"You're a chatty one! Xendros dabbles in magical stuffs as far as I know. Her store is over this side of the river. Watch yerself around her though. She's a Tiefling from Iuz. Best place for weapons and armor is over at The Dwarven Anvil." Lankus marks both spots on a small map he draws for you.
Eeek decides this might be his one chance to free himself from the fishing ships he currently works on.
"Hail Korik", he says stealing his nerve and extending his hand. "I'm Eeek, if you're looking for some help I'd like to offer my services. If you're going to go searching for the Haunted House I know a few things about it, enough to know it's dangerous and you shouldn't go in unprepared. I overheard the pirate who was my captor speak of it, he was a cruel and brutal man and even he said it was dangerous and should be avoided. He said something about it being only for the Sea Ghost and she should not be disturbed"
Quark stands up from her table and nods slowly towards the forlorn fellow who seems apologetic.
« I’m sorry you’ve lost so many from your flock, brother. That is a very sad thing.”
She turns her attention to the group discussing the haunted hoard, and approaches them, tugging at her fancy leather vest.
”I will also join you, should you require a steady hand with a bow. It sounds like Saltmarsh and its fine folk would be better off without this haunted house.”
I would like to finish my food and drink first. It was not to long ago that I was very hungry and I hate to waste. Maybe we can break bread and drink together before we find out more about this ghost house.
Pringles is excited as the adventurers start grouping up.
“Greetings new friends! I’m Pringles! Your friendly wanderer who helps with things!(wink, wink) I’m excited and scared about this haunted house but if it has the hidden hoard, it will be alllllll worth the trouble! (Laughs nervously). Don’t worry m’lady Faun! If the gods smile upon us, we can rid the haunted house of its evil! Permanently!”
“Hi Quark!! I like your bow! Does it have a name? Mine was made by elves! I was with some elves for a time! It’s name is Northwind! Trusty bow it is! Say, can you fly?!??”
As Pringles thinks about the journey ahead he’s thinking about picking up:
Health potion, holy water, (maybe some arrows if I have money left)
Pringles would also like to know what’s at the magic shop and if they have any deals. Anything good against ghosts?
Also, go to the local temple, if there is one, and see if they have more information on the house and see if they have any items that would help with the situation. I’m assuming this is where I would get the holy water once the party gets around to going to the temple.

OoC: No probs! Also, I updated POST #2 with a map of Saltmarsh. The Wicker Goat is the left most red building as you come in to town
Thanks Lankus!

"Well met, Eeek."
Korik grips the proffered hand and shakes it.
"I am sorry that you suffered the same as I under those pirates but I am glad you are free of them now." "
Korik looks at the others who have approached.
I can not speak for this little one beside me but if others are wanting to join in this distraction, you are more than welcome."
If you're gonna go talk to that drunk Tommy I might as well join you. Hes useless and you wont get anywhere without me.
I would like to finish my food and drink first. It was not to long ago that I was very hungry and I hate to waste. Maybe we can break bread and drink together before we find out more about this ghost house.
Korik looks for a table to sit the 6.
Eeek checks his daggers and then joins Korik at a table.
