"Waterdeep is my home—and you are correct, the folk there are no stranger to spectacle. However, I do not imagine that a frost giant showing up inside the fortress city of Mirabar would be a good thing. Fear of giants among the small folk has been freshly rekindled, so it would be best for me to remain far from such settlements. Besides, it would be a trivial matter for me to travel there...and if you have a means of teleporting, then I could make the journey much more quickly by myself."
Harshnag grabs a heavy branch, which looks more like a stick in his huge hands, and draws a crude map on the ground, making a stylized river and what looks like a walled city on a hill. "Once you arrive in Mirabar, meet me up the river. I will meet you two days after tomorrow, two miles upstream." He points to his map with his branch-stick. "We will meet at sunset, and travel through the night. Be prepared for the mountain weather—dress warmly, and pack only what you can spare. It is summer here, but in the Spine of the World, it is always deadly winter."
Drawing a mountain range, he points with a stick. "The temple is here. We will travel northeast along the Mirar River, and up through the Valley of Khedrun. From there, it's a climb. No trails, only mountains to traverse."
Nirzeg waves a hand lack-a-dasically, while the other moved the caska bout for readier consumption. Zeek, too, joined in on the getting sloshed trained, realizing there may be many a more deaths for him in the future. "Tho' if'n it'd be easier on ya Harshel, we can just meet'cha there? Harshnag considers. "Silverymoon is far afield from our destination. If this is your intention, inform me now, because we will need to make alterations to our travel plans. But otherwise, I will plan to meet you at the River Mirar three days from now."
He stands and stretches. "To be honest, I am surprised that you're agreeing to this mission so readily. But I have no doubt you are ready for it. Let's sleep; tomorrow is a new day."
"The sword sounds valuable," Rasa begins as he lays down, folding his wings around him, "but guidance from this sage is likely more pressing, yes? And it would be a detour muy grande. Our amigo nueve brings us our greatest lead yet, yes? I vote we follow it before diverting to chase down this weapon, which we may not be able to put to use until we get this sage's guidance anyway."
The next few days will be spent gearing up for your eventual trek through the Spine of the World.
Please post your efforts here, including where you wish to travel prior to ending in Mirabar.
Mundane supplies can be found at list price at pretty much any city within the Harper teleportation network. If you are traveling to a new city, I'll describe the situation surrounding the teleportation circle and the general layout of the city in question.
Once the group makes it back to Waterdeep, Derrikoth heads over to the teleportation network, saying the keyword as he enters. When he sees the mage (assuming it's the same one as before), he greets her with a slight bow.
"It is good to see you, Miss Thestryl, how fare you on this fine day?" He pauses, waiting for her response (and responding normally if she asks how he's doing), "I am in need of a slight favor in addition to the use of the teleportation network. I need to bring my steed, Josephus, into Waterdeep in preparation for riding against the giants savaging the land, but he is a tad too big to fit through these doors. I am aware, however, that there is magic which exists that can change the size of creatures or objects. Would you have such at your disposal, and be able to use it to assist this noble endeavor?"
The young wisp of a mage sits on her cot. “As much as I’d love to help you, my duty is to protect this circle. Can’t go anywhere without a replacement from HQ. Sorry.”
She doesn’t really sound sorry. She is currently reading a very long scroll.
“Besides, don’t you have friends that can do that kind of thing? I got a definite magicky vibe off of some of them.”
Once the group makes it back to Waterdeep, Nirzeg immediately heads to the yawning portal to see if any had come by about the C3M's rummenations. And if none had, he hangs out there for the rest of the evening, generally taking it easy the first day. However, if on the second day there is still yet no word, or attempts to make contact with any member of the group, he starts asking around for the 'little worm' who came by last time, and had thus far failed to deliver.
Ultimately, once Nirzeg confirmed the status of things, and possibly passed along the information(if need be), he would pop over to Everlund on the second day, inform their hirilings... mostly on the situation. Enough to where they would know the next destination, and would be prepared to depart the next day by means that would disclosed the following morning. Only this time, any elven enthusiasm is curbed by a very sober Just keep be prepared tomorrow for a wintry setting." That, and pay them each another hundred gp advance retainer at this point for the future journey.

One there it is just a matter of taking the pulse of area for the Githyanki. At least initially, in any case, and maybe confirm any talk of a castle in the sky having passed over recently on its way towards the savage lands or so forth.

The day after you get back to the City of Splendors, the Griffon Cavalry captain meets you with several rolled-up pieces of parchment, bound together with the seal of the Open Lord of Waterdeep.
"This is a decree from Lady Silverhand herself. It entitles the bearer, named as one of the...ahem...Courageous Calamitous Collective of Milkmen, unrestricted access to Waterdeep's skies. You may now fly over the city, which is a privilege enjoyed only by a few. And should you ever think of retiring from your...eh, current occupation...we'd be happy to have you in the Guard. You might even make it as a Griffon Cavalier! After some training, of course." The captain puffs his chest out a little, and excuses himself after he's delivered the permits to you.
Everlund
When you arrive in Everlund and make the descent all the way through Moongleam Tower, you find the city in preparation for the Midsummer festival next tenday. It is a little busier than usual, but you are able to procure mountaineering clothes and supplies from a shopkeeper who had to dig through his winter stock (make sure to deduct funds for whatever you're buying, and note on your character sheets whatever gear you're getting for going into the mountains).
Also waiting for you are the armor orders you made earlier in your travels, including the work done by Triboar's dwarven master smith, Gelrhyn Foehammer. You notice that Foehammer has wrought something special. The breastplate for Nirzeg, complete with matching bracers and helm, are made with beautiful electrum detail in dramatic zigzags, which resemble bolts of lightning. Not only does the armor conform perfectly to Nirzeg's frame, but the weight distribution makes it feel light as a feather when you're wearing it.
The plate that has been fitted for Derrikoth by Everlund's armorers is not quite as fancy, but is solid and serviceable, and fits the dragonborn well. You can tell it will be comfortable to ride in for long hours, and should protect you from many an otherwise-fatal strike. The splint barding for Josephus is equally well-fitted, and the horse doesn't seem to mind wearing it.
"Big Blue, mi amigo, I can shrink your horse. Happy to accompany you to Everlund and help, if that is alright with you, yes?"
Rasa will also shop for some basic climbing supplies--hammers, pitons, grappling hooks and some more lengths of rope--and will spend the balance of his time seeking out the best mason he can reach in the limited prep time, looking to acquire a number of palm-sized soapstones.
Derrikoth is miffed by the mage's dismissive response, but is more than happy to accept Rasa's offer. Once he receives his armor, he is happy until he notices that Nirzeg's is much finer, and spends the rest of the time muttering about the Foehammers. He is ecstatic at being reunited with Josephus, and takes the horse out on short trips to get used to the feel of the saddle again.
Rasa is able to get Josephus through Moongleam tower, and up to the teleportation circle chamber, in only five minutes. Once he reverts to his big size, Josephus' frame takes up almost all of the chamber on one side. The apprentice mage, Flewen, is eager to get rid of you before Josephus leaves a gift for him on the floor, and hurriedly casts the spell to open the portal and send you where you'd like to go.
The Waterdeep Circle presents little problem for Josephus, requiring only a single casting of the Enlarge/Reduce spell to allow him to fit through the sarcophagus and into the City of the Dead. The mage there, Thestryl Mellardin, comments, "Y'know, you should really keep bringing the big horse through the network. That won't draw any attention or raise suspicions at all."
You step out of the teleportation circle into a 30-foot-square cellar. Tucked underneath a wooden staircase is an unmade bed, where the circle’s attending mage sits when you arrive. The heavyset young man introduces himself as Revil Slombarr. Revil directs you up the narrow stairs to a secret door, which opens inside a large wooden trunk bolted to the floor above.
When you climb out of the trunk, you will find yourself in a curtained cloakroom, which opens into the taproom of a tavern called the Smiling Satyr. The tankardtender smiles and winks as you leave the cloakroom, and distracts the few patrons with a quick (and purposeful) breaking of a nearby pint glass, allowing you to leave without drawing attention to yourself.
Loudwater got its name for the section of the Delimbyr River that runs through the center of town. The river is unusually wide here, providing the inhabitants with space for a modest harbor and ample fishing opportunities.
Primarily a human town these days, Loudwater is the last bastion of civilization in the Delimbiyr Vale, east of Secomber. The town provides a welcome respite for travelers of all sorts, whether by road or river.
The two halves of the town, one on the north side of the river and the other on the south side, are linked by a broad, stone arch overpass built along ago. This stone overpass has an interesting feature—river trout attempting to swim under it are instead propelled magically over the bridge. This is why some people call it the "Flying Fish Bridge."
Loudwater's citizens have embraced a very green aesthetic. The town's grand wood-and-stone buildings are overgrown by vines, and hung with flowering plants. Streets curl and meander around the buildings, and through gardens and bowers. Huge, old trees line the riverbanks, and children play among their roots. The town wall has flowers growing along its foundations, both inside and outside the settlement.
However, the picturesque Loudwater has a problem. It is beginning to be overrun with refugees from the east, coming from Llorkh, Orlbar, and the hamlets of Grayvale. Stone giants from the Greypeak Mountains are laying waste to these unprotected areas, leveling homes and destroying all vestiges of civilization.
To make matters worse, more people are arriving from the west, making reports of a giant castle passing over the lands near Secomber.
Unless eventually 'noticed', Nirzeg spends a good hour in the tavern, contemplating the troubles plaguing Loudwater, and by extension the lands beyond it. But in the end, he packs of his things, and returns to everlund; unable or unwilling to even pass along his findings to the party. Not yet, at least. "Quick question, my friend. About your... network. How much would it be to have you discretely create a temporary one for larger sized transports? Namely horses and possibly a carriage." He asked whoever happened to be on deck in Everlund at the time.

The journey to Mirabar is instantaneous, and as the atmosphere around you normalizes, you get the distinct smell of horse manure. The circle appears to be inscribed in a stable house loft. You are greeted by a shield dwarf in leather overalls and a beard full of straw. he is not surprised by your arrival, but quickly looked around outside for any passersby before escorting you quickly out of the stable. As he does so, he introduces himself. “Zazspar Bronzefire, at your service,” he says quietly. He waves a magic wand and cleans up a large horse dripping from the floor, before anyone steps in it.
A chilly blast of northern air greets you as you step into another new city.
Mirabar is an ancient dwarven city, but you wouldn’t know it by traveling at street level. Humans outnumber the other races here above ground, save for the all-dwarf garrison of armored troops.
One of the wealthiest and strongest cities in all Faerûn, Mirabar is highly defensible. The city, sitting atop an elevated knoll by the Mirar River, is enclosed on all sides by massive, sloped outer walls—as wide at the base as many city blocks in Waterdeep. Even the docks have battlements.
But for all the security, Mirabar is a friendly place that feels pretty egalitarian. The Lords’ Alliance is lucky to have such a fine armory here in the North.
(Do you wish to look around? Or just head straight to your rendezvous?)
