For cyst: I made a mistake and ringed Cyst by the campaign, as soon as I can I will rejoin because I may have screwed up the character, luckily I have a backup
just lmk if u need help actually have a buddy that had same problem. I can resend you and updated link to the campaign
I just read the comments that have been posted since my last post on this thread and it made me smile since the only thing I have to add is that I share the general vibe. I also agree with each recommendation that has been given to the new or "kind of new" RPG players. I've also got problems with the notifications, so I look a couple times a day refreshing the page instead of waiting for notifications now... I'm also glad to see that we seem to be in an understanding group of people. If things continue the way they are, I agree, this campaign, but also our interactions, show great promises!
I would just add a final thought. Feel no pressure at all, you are free to use the style you prefer, but here: I recommend that you (everyone), get as in character as possible. A play by post is a great opportunity for roleplay since we have time to think and compose. Take this opportunity to create something, to experience a side of yourself or to give some life to a fantasy of yours. I would thus suggest that you narrate your story at the first person, since when you're not writing in OCC, you ARE your character. Also, do not limit yourself to ability checks. Describe your thoughts, your feeling, your actions as they appear in your head. Not too much (there's no use in describing the exact way your fingers bend to cast a certain spell ;-) ), but enough to promote immersiveness. Again, this is D&D and you are free to play it as you wish. I'm only giving what I think are good advices to get the most out of the play by post format. Feel free to correct me and provide your own suggestions.
Have a nice day everyone!
I second that lol. Great input and good luck to all!

Nodding to everything but that. Sorry, have to respectfully disagree on both "first person" and "you ARE your character".
At the table (or voice chat) it might sound strange when someone refers to his/her actions in third person. But in PBP we are reading the narrative, it's like a book. And when every character of the book is talking in first person - it is confusing and difficult to follow.
As of "you are your character" - no, simply no. I am not. My characters (speaking of all of them in my gaming years) are very different, each of different origin, raised and living in different situations, having very different personalities. I am not playing me, but them. And they behave not as me, but as persons with described by me traits will (as I think) behave in every situation. Again - it's a writing, a "book" view.
(not to mention, separation of the character and the player helps to maintain good relationships ;) )

I want to first emphasize how everyone is entitled to have and keep its own approach and opinion of the game. I'm only sharing my own.
Also, I may have been misunderstood. I'm not talking about anything unhealthy. What I'm suggesting is similar to what acting is. To give and experience the best performance, you must enter into your character skin, personality, thoughts, etc. When The Rock talk at the first person as the tooth fairy, n this moment, he's acting as if he was, while I'm pretty sure, in real life if doesn't think he is. It's all in the name RPG: Role Playing (or doing as if you were) Game.
In the end, you are, of course, free to narrate the story of someone else, in my opinion, you're getting away from the "role playing" aspect of the game. The "true" narrator is the DM. All of the character are describing their doings and thoughts. That's also why we use different colors for speech, to help distinguish characters. As you said, it works in person, so I really don't see why it wouldn't when written.
Ima just stay out of this XD me as a DM idk about others, but i take in everything and try to narrate the campaign in a way that satifies everyone in a way. Like Rusty, for his posts ill post more in a robotics view than say a human would talk
And as far as a character aspect goes, in my opinion what ever way you want to do it and it feels more natural is how you should play, even in person. There are alot of people that even write out what they are going to do before they act in a live DND session just to have the words come to them easier than being put on the spot. As long as your having fun and the DM can collaberate what your trying to express then all is good.

I have kept to third person in my post because it seems more Warforged (robotic). My plan for a Warforged was either a dry, unemotional true neutral or play like Neptr or BMO from adventure time.

I love ur character and his actions its definitely different from the usual so to say

Did not suspect it for a second! Hope I did not sound too harsh and indeed everyone sees "the right way" as the one they know. To me - we are no actors (this is for LARP), but the writers. First person absolutely does not work for me in this format. :( But I do not want to cause problems to the rest of the group - can you accept my third person posts?
Our DM is an angel of wisdom and kindness, I totally agree, but the campaign will be long...

I recoverd my sheet, yes please, send me another campaign link. In the meanwhile if you want to post in the IN GAME thread, please go ahead...I reckon no rolls will be required at least not soon
Also, I may have been misunderstood. I'm not talking about anything unhealthy.

From what I've read so far, it seems to me that people here are pretty open and respectful of others. So, for now, since there's really no arm in it, I think it's best to continue the way we did or the way we are the more comfortable. If or when it becomes weird, we'll find a solution. Considering Zephyrethe's ways of leading this campaign, I have no doubt that we'll find a way to make it work. :-)
Also, don't worry BlueBayou, there is not friction here. :-)

Very relieved to hear that! Honestly. Let's see how it all unfold :)
A conversation with a previous player that might have some insight of a few general things.
Ok so i can answer as many details as you want of the rp as long as it doesnt give away key factors like Ring City itself is in the middle of a massive forrest on almost all sides, only a blimp on the map even with how massive the city is itself, its almost the size of a whole kingdom but a massive circular shaped defence instead. However, you are a dwarf and ring city was founded by humans long ago, dwarfs are some what common in or around ring city but mostly they come from Mountains or foot hills or deep under ground or something thats probley like Eberron which im not firmiliar with, not firmiliar with alot of official DND stuff honestly, but none the less, i think you should make a blend or mix or even an exact copy of Eberron where you might originate from. In concept this rp has everything laid out except massive voids of "in-between" detail that can also become apart of the history of the actual campaign. so say 3 years from now im still doing this, these characters at that point will more than likely become some sort of legends that will be incorperated in future campaigns alot with some of there tales, details, dialogues and all sorts of what notness XD if i hit that spot on, also if you dont mind i would like to post part of this conversation in the campaing and other post to help some other questions that might be on other players mind
Yea i was actually suprised at the number of barbs and rogues, makes alot of interesting and deceiving content. This is no normal rp though, i encourage any one to message me about anything. If you feel your rolls are neglected or you want more proof of rolls that happen just let me know.
I'm very curious as to what is about to happen next as it seems like everything is about to come to a head and many characters are going to be meeting one another very shortly. As this is my first time playing DnD I have to say I am having a great time and am on the edge of my seat constantly refreshing the page to see what is next!
XD im glad you enjoy it and like ive said so many times, i wish there was an easy, better, or more timely way to take care of every post immediately. But if everyone is patient enough things will get so good. Like i can already imagine so many character doing and achieving so many things
