Having had them pointed out by Brotherhood, Pierpont also sees the three figures swimming toward them. "Yes, you're right. There's definitely something there."He tries to make out what they might be. Whether they are friend or foe, Pierpont won't take a chance. He draws his short bow and is ready to take aim at any sign of trouble.
Helena looks over to where Brotherhood pointed out the three figures and unsheathes her rapiers. "Be on guard. We don't know what they are... from what we've heard about the island, though, I'd wager they're not coming over for a nice chat."
"Do we try to communicate, or just get on our way?"
"I don't even know if we can communicate with them. Unless someone knows what they are, I suggest we keep moving forward and simply observe. If they try and communicate, we see if we can respond. If they attack, we are ready to defend."

"Agreed, until we know what we are dealing with we should be cautious. Theres also that ship out there in the water. Wonder if its what's left of a group of explorers or perhaps something else."
Heading back to the Captain Brotherhood will ask "Captain do you have a spyglass or something you could use to get a better look at the ship and whatever is in the water there?"
Pierpont raises his bow and takes aim at the shape. He yells out to it, even though he is unsure if it can understand, or even if the sound will penetrate the water.
The shape floats there for a moment. Then, Pierpont hears something. No, hears isn't the right word. He feels something. A voice, speaking in his mind as if he were thinking the words.
Turn back.

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Helena looks ready to jump into the water when the figure suddenly moves 60ft forward but when it stops, she relaxes a bit though is still very much on guard. As Pierpont shouts out to it, she eyes is suspiciously, waiting for its response.
"Did you hear that? It...spoke to me. But it didn't say anything." Pierpont looks at the other confused. "It wants us to go back. I can tell if that is a threat or a warning."
"It spoke to you? I didn't hear anything. Though going back isnt much of an option, at least not for us, not with Sladek still on the island somewhere. We should prepare to go ashore, and keep an eye on the company here, just in case that was a threat. Sooner we are able to return the better."
"I hope it was a warning a not a threat... but I do agree with Brotherhood. We can't just go back now. Captain, keep going. And lets just hope we don't get attacked." Helena keeps her eyes on the three figures, ready to defend herself if they attack.
After trying to eat the hat several times, and once trying to throw it like a frisbee, the modron has determined that the hat is in fact a hat, and it now wears it precariously balanced on its perfectly spherical head/body.
Are you continuing to the island?

"Whether it be a threat or a warning, it matters not, we still need to move on." Aka responds, keeping a wary eye on the creature but watching how the captain and crew make for land.

Suddenly, the three shapes stop, and seem to just float there, observing the ship. They're about a hundred feet away.

Aka, once more turning to the Captain, "What do you make of these things, have you encountered them before?"
"No, definitely not. I have no idea what they are. Of course, I can barely see them, which doesn't help."

"I don't think a spyglass will help you to see underwater. I'm afraid I can't help."
Suddenly, one of the shapes moves closer, to a distance of about 60 feet.
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Pierpont raises his bow and takes aim at the shape. He yells out to it, even though he is unsure if it can understand, or even if the sound will penetrate the water.
"Speak! If you mean peace."
