“Thank you to whoever healed me. The darkness of death or something I don’t want to see you for a long time. To think, that little beast was living in our backyard. In a few years time we could’ve all been its prey.”
Jharn lay a hand gently on the dragons neck. “She is so beautiful.”
"Perhaps we should set up here for the night. It will give us a chance to rest and tend to wounds, and go through the loot." Drueze starts looking for sticks, debris whatever could be used for a small fire.
"I'm curious why the dragon was here or was it just a seemingly safe location with lackeys. Still we should take its head as proof of our deeds and its flesh may feed us tonight. "
Looking into the pool of water as he shuffles about "yes proof of deed. I think I'll take a piece of hide"
(DM my goal will be a dragon skin wrap for my staff handle and 2 small patches for my vestments like paldrouns, and a keepsake claw-all decorative not looking for any increases in damage, armor or resistance, but the brash would be monk whose teachers question his ability and demeanor would want to be a little I told you so.)
Drueze is certainly able to cut off enough dragon hide for his improvements.
Necria successfully recovers the javelin, and also pulls up a silver treasure chest. It is unlocked, and contains 500 gold and 1000 silver pieces, along with a few razor teeth (from a larger dragon, it seems), a few humanoid skulls, a cracked gold hand mirror, a set of polished silverware, and a thin wand, its reddish wood etched with flowers, that tingles with magic. Your choice as to how to divide it.
As beautiful as it is, Jharn agrees the dragon is not to be wasted, that would be a greater sin. She too extracts a claw from the foot of the dragon hoping to turn it into a pendant to remind her, and others, of what they had achieved today.
“Well, that’s unexpected.” Jharn looked at the haul that Necria brings up. “You know the farmer could really use some of that money to help cover the loss of their sheep. Would anyone object to giving them a few gold?”
Jharn picks up the mirror and studies it, curious how such an item ended up down here. “If you don’t mind, I would like to hang on to this. Maybe clean it up, put it behind the counter in my store. Those teeth look interesting too.”
" If we each take 230 silver it would leave him 80, enough to replace sheep. If we take 120 gold it would give him 20, so he could improve his fences and maybe hire someone to help watch...the head besides proving our deed will sit on his mantle and make him the envy of every farmer he knows."
Jonas looks over the various things found honestly I don't know what any of these are or their worth, or usefulness. Please help yourselves. "
"That sounds fair. We also need to consider what we are going to do with our friend up above. I wonder if he has ever considered actually working with a farmer, rather than stealing from them?"
Jharn helps divide the coins from the chest and puts her share in her backpack. "The chest looks beautiful as well, mind if I take a closer look?"Jharn inspects the chest, the handmirror and the tooth before putting the tooth and handmirror carefully into her pack.
The chest is beautiful, etched with images of warriors and monsters, but the silver plating is mostly false, so its main value is as art. The mirror is a bit tarnished and nonmagical, but could be quite nice if cleaned up, and worth about 5 gp if you wished to sell it. The tooth is also a black dragon's, but it's too large to be from this one...perhaps it's an ancestor's.
“So one twenty-fifth share of the gold and two twenty-fifths share of the silver go to the farmer for his trouble, and the rest we divide evenly between ourselves. That seems fair, considering the great service we have rendered the farmer, the community, and all creatures that would live in this vicinity.”
Necria takes her share of the coins and eyes the silver ware. “My goddess will be pleased by the brightness of this plate,” she says, loading it into her backpack.
“I doubt our kobold friend would wish to serve the farmer, having just been freed from one master, nor do I think the farmer would take kindly to such a servant. We should, however, make haste to free him lest some evil befall him in our absence.”
"Servitude to the farmer to repay his crimes is probably more appealing than execution and after we killed the dragon surely he knows....finally...not to cross us"
Looking across the faces " we were hired to find and end a threat. While this kobold lives free we have not done our job. Justice, in this case indentured Servitude or death. His freedom isn't ours to give but the farmers. Wake me in 4 hours and I will watch the rest of the night. Tomorrow we return to finish this"
Drueze sits cross legged and closed his eyes in meditation expecting to be fully rested before leaving.
Belleres figures out how to use the wand: pointing it at a surface causes a flower to grow there. That seems to be its only use, but it's still pretty cool!
"There is nothing just about slavery." Belleres will say. "And that is what you are talking about. He will not steal sheep if he has no reason, and perpetuating injustice through enslavement will only give him reason."
“You said this before, Drueze,” Necria says in reply to the elf, “but I don’t recall being hired by anyone. The farmer asked for help, and we agreed to help him, not work for him. The death of the dragon ends the threat to his sheep, and I didn’t come here to take prisoners.”
Necria walks out to the pit and, if the kobold is still there, fishes him out and unties his bonds.
"A difference in upbringing? Even if coin doesn't change hands we took on a task and should see it through. Besides with a share of the treasure perhaps the employment of the kobold could become paid after restitution for the sheep is fulfilled. The dragon may have given orders but it choose to follow them."
(ooc its been a month and I may have forgotten the exacts of how we got started. I don't think rereading the first few pages would hurt me though. )
Necria leaves apparently determined to do her own thing no matter what the others thought. Jharn quickly got up and chased after her. Even with the dragon dead this place could still be a danger.
“No one said slavery. That would not be right. I just thought we might be able to help steer him toward some honest employment. Heldred can obviously use it and this kobold needs something to do now to keep out of trouble.”

Necria stows her mace in her belt, doffs her shield, and dives down to the bottom of the pool to recover her javelin.

Long rest is good!

"Believing in slavery is more than a difference in upbringing.". Belleres will follow Necria.
" is the prisoner in a cage paying for his crimes a slave or being punished? I'm suggesting he avoids the cage and makes restitution."
Tamu is alone by this point. Everyone else has walked away back up the tunnel.
When the adventurers reach the pit, they find the kobold still bound and gagged. His saucer eyes go wide upon seeing you alive.
