Jilrana waits until everyone is inside, then slips in through the entryway, pulling the door closed behind her. Her grin lights up in the darkness, then four small globules of light pop into existence around her. "Those that can't see in the darkness, hang back with me. We'll follow at a small distance."

Noticing the lights appear around Jilrana, Dor keeps the oil lamp unlit, but ready to go. Having seen nothing of importance by the stonework, he trudges forwards into the abyss behind Nadariel.
Dor's inspection of the stone work provides little insight. He notes that the wall are smooth..ish and carved directly from mountain. They have no embellishments, no exaggerations, just a simple, efficient tunnel.
The group begins to slowly decent the steps and soon they a lone sphere of light in deep dark tunnel. Eventually, the light touches the bottom of the steps and starts to stretch out across a floor. Moving slower than before, they carefully moved up to glance around and attempt to remain concealed. Looking around, it appeared to be a rectangular shaped room. Again, simple construction but sconces for torches lined the walls about the room but all remained empty but bits of decaying wood lay upon the floor. Around the room other signs of long decayed furniture.
Of note though were two things. On the wall to the right of the entrance was a pile of stone pushed inwards and a small rough tunnel extended into darkness from there. This is what one would expect a Kobold tunnel to look like. Directly in across from the stair was a large mural carved into the stone with a door way in the middle. To the left and right of the doorway, the mural depicted various forms of humanoids and monsters bowing in supplication. Above the door stood the body of a large creature. It was hard to make out what it was as much it had cracked with large bits of it fallen to the floor.
would there be any use for Elisha to make any kind of check on the mural to maybe learn something from it? If there is a chance tell me what check I need to roll.
Putting more light on the mural and studying the pieces on the ground you surmise that the creature is likely a dragon, most likely an ancient dragon of sort. Though thinking about it, you don't recall any type of organized religion worshiping dragons.
Elisha recalling his studies on dragons seems to remember tales of kobolds serving dragons. He tells the party what he learned from studying the mural and say's: "We need to tread careful here ....if these kobolds serve a dragon we are in way over our heads. Perhaps we need to observe from a safe distance and report back back to base depending on our surveillance."
@DM.... Elisha knows Draconic. is there anything written here?
No nothing is written upon the mural but the group gets the impression that with the state of decomposition of everything else in the room and spoor state of the mural, and freshness of the tunnel; the kobolds are recent visitors.
"Heh, yeah. Let's proceed slowly then." Jilrana says with a half-smile, lifting up her crossbow to be ready for any danger up ahead."Looks like the kobolds tunnelled in through there, let's check that passage first. Leave the worshippers of the ancient dragon be," Her grin widens, "for now."
Elisha looks at the party and whispers: " We have been gone for what 3 days? Do we need to head back and report our findings or do you think we need to explore here for a bit?"
Nadariel and Elisha move forward to the rough hole that is the Kobold cave. It's pitch black within and a very tight fit. From what they recall, Kobolds are quite small and the tunnels shows. After the initial entrance it begins to taper in and they move from a crouched stance to crawling on hands and knees. The tunnel becomes narrow enough that turning around will be impossible and the only way to backtrack will be to crawl backwards. If they continue to follow the tunnel about about 50 feet of horizontal movement they will see that it takes a steep slope down at a 45 degree angle. Moving beyond this would likely cause them a one way trip downward.
Back in the "entrance hall". Dor and Boofa await the scouting of their two friends. As they wait Dor can hear a slight *thud*, *thud*, in a very rhythmic fashion, almost like a drum. It seems to be coming from the direction of the doorway.
Returning to the group Elisha and Nadariel relays to Dor and Buffa the contents of the kobold tunnel. Dor likewise points outs the deep rhytmic noise coming from deeper within the mountain. Three options provide themselves. They could leave, they could remain there and wait/prepare, or then could press in further.

Toss up a nature and religion check. Typically I'd say history but there is very little history that is known of this wild land.

Uncomfortable, Dor squeezes his eyebrows together in a grimace.
"We've gone from Goblins to Hobgoblins to Kobolds and now we're starting to see Dragon markings."
He chuckles,
"Maybe we should just wait for the next group to find our bodies before we let them know that it isn't just Goblins out here."

Dor waits are the entrance of the tunnel with Jilrana and the others as Nadariel and Elisha head in. Watching them go, he says,
"We'll wait here for the results. Once you're back, we'll head back to base and let them know what's what."

The moment the tunnel gets to narrow i signal Elisha to turn around and return to the group.
Elisha will follow Nadariel back to the group.
