"A wizard? I never would have guessed." Noa laughed. "I've always been fascinated about that craft but I suppose my brain isn't well suited for the arcane... Or studying in general."
Doing as Bree said, he cleaned up after the meal and placed everything in order. Such chores were the norm in his school and he did as he would any day in training.
The coming of the hobgoblin who introduced himself as Perzy'S was a welcome one as he came with food. The halfling immediately took charge of making rations for the coming journey and he appreciated her initiative.
"This is nice isn't it? I've been traveling for so long by my lonesome, this is actually very refreshing." Noa smiled.
"I am not sure why everyone around here likes my cooking so much." Bree says with a shake of her head,t he brown curls of ehr ahir tumbling around her pixy face. "Back where I come from no one would let me near the kitchen." She does laugh now, lcearly recalling something from her past. "The old chief picked me to do his cooking and now here I am cooking again." She grunts in amusement.

The meat soon lets out a burned smell as Bree pours some lamp oil onto it, thinking the oil was some sort of seasoning. "Oops..." She says as flames lick over the meat hungrily. "That happens every once in a while." She says with a shrug, stepping back. "Not sure what will be good to eat after this though..."
Skip would hum along to the music as they make their way through the dark towards their destination. He would occasionally toss glowing spoon in the air and catch it along their way. "After we are done, I am going to make a whole mess of pancakes I think... " He would say aloud to his two companions.
"So what's the deal with the glowing spoon, and do you have a glowing fork and butter knife to go with it? Ohh maybe a glowing tea cups and saucer...."
Tibby continues naming ridiculous kitchenware that would be nice if enchanted to glow for about 5 mins when he leans in and whispers to skip:
"And why is your buddy here so jumpy?"
He will roll an insight check to your answer of: 12
"Well my spoon is glowing because I cast light on it" The halfling would say as he takes the spoon and holds it in front of Tibby's face. "I cannot see in the dark like some folks and I figure carrying around torches is silly when I can just make my own" He would say proudly holding up the spoon. The spoon itself is longer and more narrow than a normal spoon would be. It appears to be silver with a brass inlay running down handle. It looks as though the brass inlay spells out a word but it is hard to make out in darkness and the bright light radiating from it... (Celestial text). "It was a gift from a woman i helped a long time ago.. She was beat up and I dragged her to the inn... bought her a room to stay in for a while and made sure she was well fed" Skip would say with a smile. he would look away from Tibby for a moment, looking to the spoon. "She gave this to me as her way of saying thanks.. and also blessed me with a few other gifts as well" he would say with a grin as he quickly made a small cookie appear in his empty hand as he cast prestidigitation before the cookie disappeared but he lingering smell of fresh cookies still hung in the air.
"As for my new friend... well... Jaeson has had a hard time lately. He is new to town and I have been trying to help him out." Skip would say as his face becomes more serious. "I uhh... don't know that he wants me speakin about his personal life but their is one thing I have learned.. it's that helping others comes with its own rewards" The halfling would say as he points his glowing spoon towards the gnome before continuing to walk towards their objective.
(OOC: with your insite roll, you get the the feeling that Skip is telling the truth and genuinely interested in helping others but also think maybe he isn't telling you everything about the woman and the spoon...)
Jaeson walks ahead of the two, wordlessly, silently, lost in his own thoughts as they make their way to the home of the woman. "Pancakes sound good..."
As you come around a the crook of a hill you can see the silhouette of the windmill on umbrage hill. The time flew as you three enjoyed good conversation and a really pleasant evening by all accounts. While you cant see any details you can see that the windmill has a partial fence around it. What appears to be some old grave stones. As you get nearer you can see dark lumps strewn across the yard at various distances from the house. Most are roughly human shaped with one shaped like a beast of some sort...you also catch a glimpse of movement and a flash of moonlight on a weapon of some sort heading in the direction of the windmill.
Perzy'S is quiet and observant during the meal. Oddly he is enjoying the company of these diverse and friendly people. Traits he is not really accustomed to with his own people. He realizes he will have tread carefully when dealing with these new friends, it wont be beneficial to try an bully them like with goblins. He adds a few tidbits of his background to the conversation, and shows them the hunk of dragon horn he took from the red dragon in its lair ( only a hint of pride and boasting at the feat)
He thanks them for their aid and comfort and for the cooking of the meal. Burnt tastes fine to hobgoblins, it's like just another seasoning, he jokes.
He rolls out his bed roll in front of the fire and relaxes with his bow across his chest and sighs as he looks into the clear night sky at the infinite stars.
The night settles on, the cold air and warmth of the fire obscures the knowledge of the village full of death just a short distance away. The dancing flames loll you all into a sense of piece and relaxation. Just as the fire is starting to turn to embers and your eyelids begin to weigh heavy, a cracking sound comes from the woods nearby. Snapping you out of your relaxed state.
"Did anyone else hear that?" Bree asks, sitting up on her bedroll. She then sends Scat, her familiar off into the sky, going over to check out what the sound was. Sitting up she grabs the staff she had found earlier in the chief's home's remains, and holds it as a walking staff as she gets up from the bedroll.
Jaeson stops in his tracks, his teeth chattering and his hands becoming shaky. His face has become quite serious. Silently, he shakes his head in response.
Hearing the voices Yessica starts to panic, "how did they find me?!" she curses under her breath. Looking around the mill she sees a ladder and takes it to the second floor. Pressing her self against a well and peering out the window, trying to feel as small as possible. "I worked one side job and stashed some coin! Not that big o' deal..." she continues to mutter
Tibby takes Skip and Jeason off the road to some bushes and whispers:
"OK, so if you two don't know these guys, why are they here? If you want I'll try to sneak around and see if I can tell what they are up to. How does that sound?"
OOC I'll go ahead and roll a stealth check just in case: 11
The door creaks loudly as the intruders slip into the ground floor of the windmill. The air is suddenly filled with the smell of a distinctive fish/vinegar scent. You recognize it as something one of the Red arm mercenaries you briefly worked with, until they were pushed out of Phandalin by adventurers for abusing the people. Its Burt, he is a bungling idiot, but a brute. Your not sure who or how many others are with him, but at least it's not members of the guild directly. They begin to search the ground floor.
As you approach cautiously and quietly, you get a better glimpse of the intruders. You definitely get the sense they are up to no good. It seems the lady of the mill must be a sleep and totally unaware these bandits or whatever are entering her home. You are approaching 45 feet from the mill and you can see that the lumps in the yard are indeed bodies. Looks to be about 15 or so humanoids with a variety of nasty wounds, most have several long spikes in them. The beast thing is too hard to know what it is without closer examination. Use the map of umbrage hill to plan your course of action
In the dim light of the moon and embers of the nearly extinguished fire you see a sort of fog or mist roll out from the treeline. Not to thick you cant see through it, but enough to really catch the moo light. It sparkles a bit and the temperature seems to drop 20 degrees in an instant. In the center of the mist a silhouette of a woman in long flowing dress pushes through the mist moving towards you. You hear no sound of footsteps, even though the ground is covered in snow.
The figure is approximately 60' from your positions by the fire and the mist moves forward with the figure.
