One of the news that could catch Choir's attention (or anyone else's should they listen) was about unrest near the Basilisk's Gates. But it was not mentioned as something alarming, more among the lines "where are important members of Flaming Fist can be found today". Captain Zodge, apparently, was busy in that area.
"Captain Zodge," Choir agrees in the sergeants voice. "A tall man, long black hair, a leather eye patch - you will know when you see him. Should be at the Basilisk Gate."

"Unrest by the Basilisk Gate... Sounds like another fine day here in Baulder's Gate," Adray says with an exasperated sigh as he stands. He looks at the and waves a hand. "Come on now, if they've got trouble there we best help. And by help, I mean prevent some of our brethern from beating up too many civilians." He then continues his way to the door hoping the others will follow.

Polly stands up “Owis, come on! We need to go!” And she jumps up with as much energy to match Fran. Although she didn’t much care for her current situation she couldn’t help but be a little bit excited.
Apparently, Ordrag did know city well, so well, in fact, you got to the gates pretty fast and without any mishaps on the way. He did not see anyone familiar on the way, but you did not come that close to the docks to run into his crew mates anyway.
Baldur's Gate, despite it's dangerous reputation, did not look as lawless as one would expect - there were no open murder at every corner or hoards of armed threatening people. On the other hand, your uniform is noted - people prefer to get out of your way. Finally, you see the Basilisk Gate, that takes its name from the various statues that rest in its niches and perch atop its battlements. Unseen beyond the sealed Gate, a dirt road stretches through the Outer City slums to the bridge known as Wyrm's Crossing, then to distant realms beyond.
Dozens of Flaming Fist soldiers are trying to control an angry mob of commoners eager to leave the city. Adray was right about the methods of your new brethren - the way they handled the mob ... could not be called particularly gentle. But you see right away why nobody was alarmed back in Headquarters: Captain Zodge knew his job well - the unrest was practically over, with few men lying on the ground - some tied up, some just beaten, and you could spot the one eyed captain, throwing last punches. Just another day in the City of Blood.
Ordrag sees this, and shares a quick glance and eyebrow-raise with Adray, who he can see also appreciates the Captain's technique. He waits a second until the last body hits the ground, then approaches and casually says...
Ah, hey there, Captain, sir! New recruits reporting for duty.

Choir is puzzled. She understands why Baldur's Gate doesn't let refugees in, but it seem odd that they are also not letting citizens leave. You would think that if they let out the people who want to leave, there would be room for the ones who wanted to come in. She wonders why these people want to leave.
But she can't think of any words to ask her questions for her, so she waits to hear the captain's orders.

Fran looks just as puzzled as Choir, her brows furrow with her confusion as she watches the scene in front of her. She’d stand silently with her arms crossed and look the captain up and down.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“I don’t understand it either” she whispers to Owis on her shoulder. “Maybe they are looking for someone.”
She looks her new captain up and down, trying to judge what kind of man he is and what he is capable of( perception17 ). Either way, she is glad she is on his side for the moment.
Captain Zodge did not noticed Polly's inquisitive look, he glanced at the party, nodded to Ordrag's report and with short "Wait here" turned to soldiers around. (Polly could safely assume that that particular human male is not a sweet type or someone you can refer as "nice". Though, you would not need much perception to notice that) After several short orders concerning tied up troublemakers, he returned to the group.
"So, my eltureals are here. Good. Let's talk inside," he nodded into direction of a small guardhouse by the gates and went there without checking if you follow. Six particularly dangerously looking soldiers entered guardhouse with him and took their places inside seemingly random. Four of them handing a gold coin each to the one standing closest to the door (a big muscular half-orc woman), for some reason grinning at the party. "Don't mind the guys," commented Captain, "they bet you would run away the moment you are out of headquarters. Minaqua over there said you would not dare."
"I wanted to bet on a good nature of noble elturelians," remarked a toll blond guy winking at Fran and still grinning, "but nobody accepted".
"Enough," Captain's sense of humour was obviously very limited if he even had one. "You had your fun. Now quiet." He sized each of you, not judgmentally but as if thinking of the best use for such a group. "Smart move on your part. Should you really try to run I would have to hunt you down and kill you as deserters, and I hate wasting time like this. I will take your presence here as a sign of some brain and loyalty, preferably both. And this is why you are here." He made a pause to underline what he was about to say.
""The refugee crisis," begun Captain, "made people fear that Baldur's Gate might suffer the same fate as Elturel, of which nothing remains but a hole in the ground, as we heard here. Our grand duke, Ulder Ravengard, was visiting Elturel on a diplomatic mission when the city was destroyed . Coincidence? I think not. As if that was not enough, some of your precious "knights of Elturgard", those "Hellriders" escaped the destruction and declared Baldur's Gate somehow responsible for Elturel's downfall. Some of these self-righteous rabble-rousers had an audacity to get into our city to start hell knows what kind of trouble. We're arresting them on sight, but that's left us shorthanded to deal with another problem. For that "another problem" I need your help."
"Baldur's Gate has long been plagued by followers of the Dead Three - the gods Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul. I thought we had wiped them out, but apparently not. These dirty bastards are taking advantage of the current crisis to commit murder sprees throughout the city. As my appointed deputies in this matter, you 'll have license to kill this scum on sight. Find their lair, and wipe it out. Eliminate anyone who gets in your way, and don't worry about collateral damage."
"A few blocks from thhere you will find Elfsong Tavern. A spy named Tarina hangs out there, gathering rumours for the Guild . She owes me a favour, so tell her you work for me. Ask her what she knows about the Dead Three. And, for the love of Baiduran , be nice. Tarina has dangerous friends."
"Should you succeed, I'll see that you each receive two hundred gold pieces in addition to my gratitude, which is worth considerably more." Captain finished his speech and looked at each of you again. "Any questions?"
Murder the murderers, eh? Well if that's how things work 'round here. One question though: when we do find this lair, can we get a few extra heads to help out?

Captain nodded - the question was reasonable. "You might. Yet again, we are stretched thin now. And this is why payment is good - because you are expected to be able to handle things by yourself. In short, you can hope, but do not count on it too much".
Adray let out an exasperated sigh and gave a salute. "Right, Sir. To summarize we are to meet your contact, collect what info she has and use it to eliminate these Dead Three followers and their hideout. In addition, we are to try and do this with limited strain on the company."
Upon confirmation he'll turn to the others and say, "Sounds pretty straightforward and personally, I'd rather be hunting murders that trying to play peace keeps between an angry and misguided mob and... our company."
Fran would give a side glance to the blonde before looking back to the Captain to give him her full attention. Delighted that Adray piped up to summarize everything, she'd relax her posture when he'd turn to speak to them. "Aye. I'm with ye'" Fran would give him a nod and be ready to set out when everyone's ready.
Choir nods, and says, "The Elfsong Tavern," in Zodge's voice.
Gripping her warhammer tightly, she adds in the high Priestess's voice, "Taverns are unholy places filled with foul air."

As he has been appointed guide, Ordrag offers to lead the way. He looks up at the sun, looks around and then points and says:
Basilisk Gate is on the east. I know the roads near the docks the best, so we can go that way.
Ordrag heads out, looking for familiar landmarks (Survival: 22) and also, the closer they get to the docks, any familiar faces.
