You don't remember much. There was something very important that someone told you. But it is just beyond reach.
Get out. There has to be a way out. Out of here. Run. Flee. They come. You have to warn someone.
The stone floor is cold. 5 others lay around you, groaning and coming to just as you are.
*******************
Welcome to the Dungeon of Randomness, where we let the computer seed control all of our fates. I will be using the donjon 5e random dungeon builder to create the dungeon for you to explore and hopefully escape. That way you can warn them. Along the way you will hopefully figure out who they are, and what you are needing to warn them about.
You will be playing a random DnD Beyond generation. Click create character, click randomize, and select level 1. DnD Beyond will handle the rest, assigning you a random race, class, and name. It will give you randomly assigned stats and everything. And yes you have to keep it. I randomly created a bard with a charisma of 5. That could be interesting. Obviously I have no way of checking that you didn't just keep creating and deleting random characters to get one that was godly powerful, but don't do that...it takes all of the fun out of it.
Once your random creation is built you will take control from there. You will write a backstory to fit the character DnD Beyond built you. When we level up you can make the appropriate decisions. But for now, you start with what the gods Beyond say you do. Oh, and standard starting equipment.
Are you ready to test the waters of Random Chaos? Come and join. It will be fun.

Klofi is a grey skinned deep gnome from the Bafflestone clan in the mountains northeast of Phandalin. He was a sort of an outcast because he prefered book learning to other forms of knowledge. During his time in the mountain clan, he had come across a book on "The Art of Fighting," which taught him that you do not need to be strong to be a good warrior. He had learned many things from his books, though not all were righteous, including lock picking and how to be a "criminal."
One day in the clan, all of Klofi's books came up missing. He demanded the gnome elders find who had taken the books. After weeks of nothing, Klofi too matters into his own hands. He found that gnome that had taken the books but claimed he no longer had them. He was told to take the books and turn them over to the elders. Soon after, late one evening, Klofi decided to take the books back from the elders. He attempted to sneak into the elders quarters but was found by a guard. Klofi became imprisoned for his actions but was able to escape weeks later. Klofi had been on the run for some time but believes he is no longer being saught. He learned that the elders saw these books as a hindrance to what the elders were attempting to teach and accomplish within the clan.
Klofi made his way to Phandalin until he could secure passage away from the area.
Backstory: (I used the Defining Event table from the Folk Hero background and made all my character's personality traits and such random as well.)
Maghana grew up in a house of calligraphers, which she eventually took up and learned, despite her actual interests. The elven girl was rash, and most of the time careless, with the way she acted or the things she said. She grew up with a strong sense of herself, and with her hard physical strength, one wouldn't be surprised to know if she became a capable soldier later in life. Life is sometimes surprising, though. After her antics and actions lead to a situation of utter chaos in her home town, she had to flee, and she found herself taking home among a dwarven clan.
One certain evening, the circumstances placed her inside a temple dedicated to Moradin. With how long an elf lives, she eventually would take every path. You may place her motivation as a sheer curiosity to see what their religion looked like. This one visit would change everything, though. Despite not knowing anything about it, a Celestial appeared to her. It was a Deva, polymorphed into a dwarf, hidden well beneath Moradin's followers. The Celestial revealed her Maghana's true nature gave her the blessing of Moradin, and she discovered the mission that'd eventually lead her down the path to this dungeon.
Ravanala grew up in Taer Valaestas, as the younger daughter of a well-respected horse breeder. She eventually drew the eyes of House Vadalis, who wished an in with her family, so they recruited her as one of their agents. She has worked for the house ever since, hoping to one day gain her fortune through them. She has traveled for her House often now and is currently on a mission for them.
Wing does not remember his parents, but after speaking with other genasi during his upbringing he came to realize that is common for the descendants of genies. Feeling like he didn't belong among large groups of people, he took to the mountains where the wind was constant, living as a hermit for a few years. He learned how to fight beasts and fend off robbers, pretending like he didn't care for other people, but seeking others like him.
Lately he started wandering the Sword Coast, maybe he'll find someone in one of the big cities there.
The name sounded female to me, so, it's she. And she thinks herself very smart, enough to be a con artist (with document forgery, no less). That delusion was the reason she ended up in a jail, busted herself out of there and decided to switch career to a treasure hunter. With approximately the same result - just now she is locked in a dungeon.
She does not like to talk about her previous life - because what is to talk about? Work-work-work - all they did. Made her - her! - a mason. But she was not stupid - dah! - to waste her life like that, she went to the big city where big money are. And if they did not appreciated her there now, they will, when she comes back with the big treasure. Dwarves and treasures is the thing, anyone knows that!)
(Not sure I need that roll (she is beautiful just as she is), but here it is - 2 )
I did ok for stats somewhat but my background and Natural Explorer things are strange...
Name: Hella
Race: Changeling
Class: Ranger
Background: Sage
Backstory: Hella was born in a continent the is in the far north, her parents having traveled there after her father was caught acting as a spy for an enemy of the land they had once loved in. From a young age Hella had to watch her parents fail to adjust to the cold, both growing weak and sick. Her mother passed first and was soon followed by her father a few years later, leaving her to fend for herself.
Taking the form of a half elf of similar age to herself, the young changeling ended up being taken in by a circle of druids and rangers. For most of her time with them she was training to become a druid, slowly learning about the natural world and the magic that one could learn if they gave themselves over to the life. While she enjoyed this she soon found that her skills fit better with those of a ranger.
For a time she kept her druidic training up but also took time to practice with a longbow and tracking. As she trained she was taught to help and deal with the local minotaurs that had taken to raiding the nearby villages, especially those that had taken after their more savage ancestors. With blessing from the arch druid she became a ranger, using her druid training to help other rangers.
As she helped to hunt down the minotaurs, she had to learn to fight blights and other monsterous plants that had taken up in the wilds after being summoned by the demonic druids of the minotaurs. During a tracking mission Hella was hit with a large club and woke up sometime later with her memory jumbled.
New rule so we don't end up with anyone that is completely nerfed. If you have a stat that is below a 6 then you may add 1d6 to that stat. You are not required to, but throw it out there for the people that are getting 3s and 5s in some states.

Seamus has lived on his own in a tiny hut in the desert foothills of the Southern Wasteland for the last 5 years. Seamus was once a prominent figure in his society and a member of the Brewers Guild. He was known for making the best mead in town.
His homeland was attacked by Orcs, and everyone was slaughtered. Seamus fled into the wastes, never to return home. He keeps to himself and lives off the scarce resources around him. Living in the wild has put him in touch with nature and Seamus has discovered that he feels more at home out in the wilderness on his own.
But the trauma of the past comes back to haunt him. At times he finds himself harboring dark thoughts of revenge, and unable to control his actions. Last night, Seamus woke up from a nightmare and stumbled out into the wasted. After hours of wandering in the dark in a semi-conscious state, he came to, waking up on a cold damp floor of a dungeon.

Backstory: A fire genasi who's made their life on the sea isn't a sight many see in their lives but it was one Wildfire was more than happy to provide. Growing up in an orphanage near the sea, she always had dreams of one day becoming a sailor, travelling the world and eventually finding "the one" who she could settle down with and build the family she never had. She almost did achieve her dreams. She became a sailor and she found a lover but there was always something tugging at her mind and pulling her away from her dreams. One day, she has a dream, a vision of plunging into a volcano only to rise from the magma as a majestic phoenix. When she awakened, she found herself in the middle of a burnt down forest with the skull of a bird in her hands, the words "The Imprisoned Flame" in her mind and new powers awakened within her. Despite the terrible guilt, she couldn't resist the tugging in her mind and decided to leave behind her former life and find out more about her vision.

That's a big oof. But maybe you fight smarter not harder. :)
I think the stat selections the random seed gives for us will force us into some interesting character choices.
Don't forget to pick up your starting equipment.

Sounds chaotic, I would like to try, here is the character I got: https://ddb.ac/characters/20493425/BSRznk
Now I'll have to think about a backstory.
I'm definitely interested in something like this. It's strange, but in a good way, and I really want to see where this will go.
Here's the randomly generated character. I'll detail them out.
Edit: Also, I'll have to say, it's very strange choosing just one spell for your cleric at level 1.
