Artin, having found nothing in the room, turns to the group. I suggest Zegria kicks down the door, and Boo, Inva, Dari, and I get ready to fire. Artin positions himself next to the door, so that he has cover.
(OOC: Artin casts Shillelagh, then readies an action to case Sacred Flame at the closest enemy he sees when Zeg kicks down the door. Suggest everyone else ready a similar action, and then Zeg opens the door)
Entering the armory the two bandits retreated to, Zaigeia kicks the door down, Artin, Dari, and Invah shower them with attacks, quickly felling all of them.

Artin nods at Boo, appreciating her concern for the life of the hostage. This is true, he says, but what if something related to the red eyed corruption is here? It could be important
Seeing nothing of interest in the kitchen, but noticing the stairs in the opposite room, Invaih nods and follows Artin's suggestion. He was about to move into the dusty lounge when he noticed the dust... And got an idea. He started to look for footprints. (Investigation 18)

After examining the traces of passage, Invaih straightens and motions to his companions to come closer to him. Then, whispering to them, he explains: "I found traces of passage in the lounge. They seemed to be dragging somebody unconscious, probably the hostage. I think we should follow them and see where they lead."
Artin is torn. On one had he wants to storm up the stairs and rescue the hostage immediately, but on the other hand, he learned through bitter experience years ago that this can lead to death. Inva, you move as quietly as the owl flies at night. Do you think you would be able to climb those stairs unnoticed, and see if you can find what is up there?

Giving a quick glance to Artin, he nods "Leave it to me." Turning to regard Iradari, he adds "I appreciate the sentiment, but I would rather you keep your energy in case we need it for something more important later. I have a bad feeling about this place."
Then, he turns and starts skulking up the stairs, following the trail and keeping alert in case of an ambush. (Stealth: 11 | Perception: 9 )
Invah, your stealth check doesn't fail completely, a floorboard creeks under your step, you hear a muffled conversation from the northwest room pause for a moment, then carries on.
Also, you notice nothing out of the ordinary, until you notice something really out of the ordinary. Black smoke-ish looking stuff with occasional red bits is streaming out from under the Northwestern door up here

Seeing the odd smoke, Invaih is tempted to return downstairs to get Artin, who he suspects might know more. However, he feels like he needs to provide more substantial information, so he continues sneaking over to the north-east door and peeks through, avoiding the creaky floorboard. You quickly slink up to the northeastern door, peeking in the slightly adjacent door, you spot a woman, sitting on a bed, fancier than the one in the bunkroom downstairs. She appears to be talking to more people, you cannot discern how many.

I agree. Iradari follows (or leads) Inva to the southern room.
