Welcome all! I'm new to this kind of DM'ing (I've DM'ed before, but not like this, so this will be interesting and good experience), but I'm eager to see how terrible I'll be at it! So let's dive right in with the campaign and what I'm looking for, shall we?
I've been working on this for a few days now and have pretty much the whole thing planned out. I'd prefer to have about 5 characters, maybe 4, but no less. Also not more than 6. So 4-6 characters, there. They should all start at level 1, and use point but to determine stats. They can be any official race, class or subclass (in other words, no homebrew for anything except some of the magic items you may end up acquiring).
This campaign takes place on a small continent called Inigus. Inigus was formed roughly 375 years ago from the dead body of a dragon-god named Iorri, the Teal Dragon. His death released his power into the surrounding area, which attracted a young blue dragon named Ximmynen. As intelligent humanoids began settling the continent, Ximmynen became a nuisance to them, destroying their buildings and killing the strong. He halted most of their progress. Until one day, a human hero named Nankon Grassgem challenged the dragon to an honorable duel. If Nankon won, the dragon would be banished to eternal sleep. If Ximmynen won, he could do what he wished with the continent. Nankon, of course, won, and using the Rod of Nankon banished him to sleep in a hidden, underground chamber. The Rod was then stored in the Vaults of Nankon (now known as the Old Vaults or Crypts of Nankon, which we'll get to later). But now, something happens to the Rod and thus Ximmynen becomes a threat to Inigus once more.
Hope I've given enough, and I hope to see some awesome characters!

Characters: Lar-Dun Vanthaft - Human Warlock - Yawning Portal with Artymis, Moril - Tiefling Sorcerer - Dragondenn's Dragonlords, Paquinal Dalanthan - Eladrin Wizard - ShadowThorn's Out of the Abyss
Campaigns: Rod of Nankon, Darkness Reborn, Dungeonverse, Alycron - A Cosmic Horror West Marches (Co-DMing), One-on-Ones
HI. Interested to read more plot detail to see if this character would make sense to put forward....have a look at it and see what you think. This backstory could be used to tie his patrons goals in dealing with the events that are unfolding....
Backstory: Grixeor has lived by the sea his whole life, and having come of age followed his father into the militia guard (hence the martial direction with Hex Warrior) only to stumble upon a bottle washed up on shore that contained a corroded key. With curiousity getting the better of him he unstoppered the bottle and shook the key into his palm. Much to his horror he found himself suddenly unable to move, with the key somehow burning into his flesh. Screaming in pain, his mind was joined with another "WELCOME TO MY SERVICE MORTAL...SERVE ME WELL" to only words he heard before passing out. Waking, he opened his fist to find his palm bearing the brand of the key, and only a faint recollection of the presence that he experienced. Over the coming weeks he began to feel different, a latent dark power brewing, and had episodes of memory loss, being unable to account for time, and occasionally finding himself somewhere that he had no idea where he was, and with an urge to seek out, something.....and with that Grix finds himself leaving his community in search of something or someone, but not knowing exactly who or why.
Yeah that works really well I think. One thing I will note now, and this may make you change your mind, but Warlocks in this setting are generally viewed with disdain and mistrust, as long as people know you are a Warlock. So you'd have to keep it secret or be viewed passive aggressively. Otherwise I think the character works really well.

The character has a martial background, so I think it will be interesting to see how he manages. A lot of the spells are going to be focussed on melee (Shield, Guided Strike etc) and Feat will either be Great Weapon Master or Polearm Master (just tossing up)....with a view to maybe taking him down the fighter path as multi-class at some stage.....anyway, see what other characters you get.
Arkrius has very little to say about his Homeland other then that it is far from the continent of Inigus. Other then that the most one would get out of the strange goblin is that he has been traveling far and wide for many years, eventually landing himself on a ship that docked on Inigus and went on without him. Since coming to the continent he has made his way by using his skills in hunting and tracking to make a living for himself.Used to being treated poorly due to his goblinoid heritage, Arkrius mostly keeps to smaller towns where he can be left alone as long as he does not cause trouble.
After surviving the ravages of war, Abzerilan returned to his home to what he hoped would be a quiet life with his wife Saera and his daughter Meki. However, that was not to last. After celebrating with a comrade-in-arms, her returned to see his home razed to the ground, his wife's broken body in the rubble, and his daughter nowere to be seen.
After a prolonged period of depression, an elderly human sat down and spoke with him. Although, Abzerilan was too withdrawn within himself to hear anything. Suddenly, he found himself awake, with nobody around him. He felt something in his pocket, an amulet that had the appearance of a blue shield and the white head of a dragon in profile. He then heard a voice, one he thought he'd never hear again. His wife's voice with a simple request, "Find her." With a renewed sense of purpose, he dug though the ruins of his home and rediscovered his halberd and his shield and set off in his search.
That campaign looks really interesting and i'd be happy to join
Nianro Danne (sheet may change in terms of equipment)
Nianro lived life in seclusion. at least for the most part, she avoided contact with others but had to deal with people sometimes. She lived in the forrest together with her celestial guide and provided shelter for those travelling close by and in return she would listen to their stories. But something dark was disturbing the land and fell over it like a dark curtain, severing Nianro's connection to her guide in the process. Now without guidance and mad she tries to reestablish the lost connection. Even when to do so, she has to visit society.
Tikea has always had a love of song and the road. She comes from a land far away from Inigus, that much is obvious from her appearance and accent. She left her home when she came of age and has since been traveling the road ever since, telling stories of her own people and learning the stories of the people she meets. A bit wild, but good at heart, Tikea wants to find a story truly worth telling for years to come. She has heard bits and pieces of the story of Nankon, and so she has started to search for a full, accurate retelling of the tale, or.maybe one of her own, in Inigus.
Abaddon the Black, red Dragonborn Paladin of Conquest. He is ill-tempered, forceful and demanding who has a vendetta against the Cult of the Dragon. He sees himself as a Talon of Tiamat - an executioner; whose role is to weed out the corruption within the church of Tiamat and excise the wound (kill them), clean out the puss (their supporters), so that the chromatic dragons may grow stronger. He has made it very clear on many occasions that it was by the Grace of Tiamat that they were spared (he has acted of behalf of his dragon Queen to save numourous peoples).
He is convinced that the Cult of the Dragon has manipulated Tiamat, and seeks to do her harm in some fashion and is on a quest to find evidence of his beliefs. He does not believe they have suddenly changed their tune, and holds a massive grudge against them for having corrupted the Dark Queens children for centuries and transforming them into undead abominations (Dracoliches).
He aspires to join the fabled order of the Knights of the Five-Thorned Rose, an elite band of crusaders who hunt followers of Bahamut. In order to gain the attention of the Knights, he intends on proving that the Cult of the Dragon are looking to corrupt Tiamat in some way, destroy them, and then take his arms against Bahamut.
If you don't think he fits, I'm currently working on a Swashbuckling Rogue who hates not being noticed
Character nme: Eyrendil Ginn or Dil Race: Half-Elf Class: Rogue (Swashbuckler)
Haven't fully fleshed him out yet, but, pirate, likes a good ale, loves the shorter races, Dwarves, Halfling and Gnomes. And loves a fiery redhead.

Forever DMing with ideas for characters. My characters: Abaddon: Dragonborn Conquest Paladin of Tiamat. Eyrendil Ginn: Half-Elf Swashbuckler Rogue/Pirate. Wear boots with spurs so is always heard coming.
Sounds interesting. I've got a few ideas, but here's one that is hopefully a little different to the others posted.
Name: Thorin Ironfist
Race: Dwarf
Class: Monk (aiming for Drunken Master)
Background: Thorin is a wandering nomad (outlander background) that loves a bit of a drink. He's a skilled brawler, and helps villages as he travels through, most of the time in exchange for plenty of good ale. His nomadic travels are starting to reveal a number of changes in the world as Ximmynen stirs once again.
Hi there! I'm interested in this campaign, but I'd like to know if 'any official content's would have to be purchased by ourselves, or if you have content sharing. Either is fine, but I'd like to know before I create a character idea.
Alright folks! I've gotten some amazing applications here. Time for me to look over the 3 I haven't accepted yet and determine who else I will. Keep in mind I'll take 2 or 3 more at this point.

Alright, I'm sure you're all eager for progress, but there are some really good characters out there. As of right now, I have currently accepted:
Abzerilan (DracheLehre)
Grixeor (MuggsHill)
and Arkrius (DarthDrizzt)
Over the past hour or so I have decided upon Thorin Ironfist (SpieltJoos) and Tikea Fourleaves (Nekraen). I will indeed allow one more character so that we have reached our maximum, and I will do my best to decide quickly. Thank you all for your applications and interest!
