Hello! I hope I am not late to apply for this game and good luck on the move.
Eekz
Race/Class: Goblin Rogue/Thief
Background: Urchin
Backstory inside a spoiler:
On the cold harsh streets of Waterdeep, many years ago, a young goblin rummages through garbage and filth looking for a tasty morsel to fend off the howling hunger in his belly. Guards would give chase if he wasn't too careful, he thought to himself as he paws through a fish carcass dripping in who knows what. He liked watching the children play during the day, keeping distant but with the hopes of they would allow him to join in on the games but that idea was squashed when a young elven girl saw a glimpse of him and screamed, "Eek!". Thus Eekz had a name, a goblin in the harsh world without a name is doomed but not poor old Eekz!
Eekz digs around deeper into the garbage. YES! He pulls out a carefully wrapped, maggot-infested, piece of charred lizard and munches on it happily. "Beggars cannot be choosers Eekz!" he gleefully talks to the shadows of the alleyway. The wind ripping the wrapping from his hands but not before he notices the common symbols for The Yawning Portal. "Eekz", he says to the shadows, "I have an idea for shinies!" He quickly nods off only to wake a few hours later in the morning sun.
He carefully wraps up his face and ears in fabric and heads off to the Inn.
Player experience with D&D and PbP: I have roughly 5 years of experience in several games, I am currently in two campaigns, one is homebrew which has been going on for about 4 years and I play a circus performer. The other is a PbP campaign which has been going on for several months and I am currently playing as a Kenku Barbarian. I have not played Dragon Heist and had the misfortune of DMing one game where two members decided to min-max and metagame, thus ruining the experience for everyone involved.
Able to post at least once a day? Yes.
What do you enjoy about D&D? I like the ability to weave stories with the DM and through the gaming sessions and see a simple character idea grow into something more than simple words on a character sheet or dice rolls.
Good Lord that's frustrating. Everything has actually been going smoothly for me here since I got here... But getting here was a nightmare
I know that feeling! On the trip to Spain, my family and I got stuck in New York because our first plane was late, and trying to get anyone to take responsibility and help us get to Madrid was like pulling teeth.

I moved from the UK to Sweden to Canada to the UK and back to Sweden in a span of 10 years. The amount of times I've had to sell up and rebuy stuff is actually insane so I feel ya.

Nice. I was planning on moving to Moscow earlier this summer, but due to recent events it's currently being postponed. Hope everyone's having safe travels!
Born of the spray of the sea, harbor seals come into life on the beaches of this land. They are the natural targets of seal clubbers and poor fisherman. It is the duty of those who watch the coast to protect against them, for the seals keep the ecosystem turning. They supply a food source for the larger fish and whales that feed humans and a culling force for the numerous underwater weeds that seek to overtake the ocean floor. Without them, safe passage on boats would be impossible to secure.
“It is a druid's duty to watch the land about him” a young Nikolai heard his father speak, hand on his shoulder pointing to the shore. “One day, you will be a watcher like me, and now you must learn. Watch.” he points to men, who believed they had tricked the sailing observers, skulking on the cliff side. With a flash of bright blue around his hands, his Father pulled, and the snow on top the cliff above the men buried them in ice and flushed them and their weapons into the sea. Some drowned, and those who didn't fled. His father didn't back down from Nikolai's haunted gaze that these men had died. In fact, he had Nikolai board a smaller vessel with him, and they rowed out to the site where the men sank as the crew on ship anchored and watched.
Once there, a single man, leg broken, remained alive and unassisted at the site. “You must act decisively Niky, men like this sneak up on babies and club them in the middle of the night.” His Father handed Nikolai a thick wooden bat he could barely hold. It was cumbersome, and he dragged it to the pleading injured man, lifted above his head with both arms and a face full of anxious tension. Minutes later, they rowed back, and boarded the ship. Nikolai looked at the beach and the sleeping seals. They slept soundly under the silent watch of the sailors, now safe from harm drifting out of sight with the dawn.
Years later, now a druid, and a man, Nikolai buried his father and gave the ceremonial rights of his Father's ship to the first mate. He had earned this ship, more than Niky ever could, and so it was only right he should be captain. Waving it off, it was now Nikolai's time to earn a ship of his own, and carry on the legacy of The Watchers.
I've DM'd and been a player in games for both In-person and PbP for about six years. Never played dragon heist though.
Yep, I can post everyday.
Game play wise, I'm a lore guy. I love huge desceiptive texts of everything interesting or intriguing. I will usually keep it in a spoiler box with a one sentence summary somewhere at the beginning or end for those who don't though. Character wise, I'll pick spells and make choices I feel like the character would have naturally rather than what is the optimal.
Hey everyone. I am impressed by these characters! It is going to be very difficult to select my players. It is now the 21st for me, but since I am in Europe now, I'll wait until tomorrow morning my time (around 10 pm PST) before I finalize my selections. Look forward to playing with you!
Alright, I am closing recruiting now. I loved reading these characters' stories, and I look forward to playing with you all. This was a very difficult selection for me. That said, if you are not selected and another player drops out, previous applicants will have priority before I start recruiting again. I'd take you all if I could. I'll be sending a PM to the selected members in the next few hours, and I look forward to playing with you in the future!
