Celeste's shot strikes the goblin in the head and it drops from it's mount and is falling to the ground. This attack has broken the Goblins nerve and they turn their mounts up and start ascending.
Rictor: you may make your attack.
After Rictor's action everyone will get an attack of opportunity.
The 4th Goblin turns it's mount and gains altitude, going out of the range of vision of anyone with night vision. You do see the Goblin seems to be heading in the direction of where you thought you heard the cattle herd.
(OCC; make sure everyone who fired their rifle removes 1 round from their sheet and another if you shoot again.)
Rictor rides up behind, peering through a cloud of kicked up dust and the gloom of night, but the flare of igniting gunpowder lights up the hideous faces of the goblins wheeling through the air. Forgoing his rifle, he aims his empty revolver at them and three beams of fire shoot from the muzzle at the two remaining goblins that he can see. Rictor casts Scorching Ray.
Keth stands and lowers his rifle, "We should make haste to the herd, these four were probably just trying to deter us." He takes a quick look around for his horse.
Rictor nearly drops his pistol as he feels it sizzle against his skin and smells a curious burning scent after the beams of fire had left the barrel. He swears under his breath at his poor aim and wheels his horse around to put him astride Keth.
"Good thinking. That sound... did it come from the beasts the goblins were riding? Or something else?" he says with a nervous glance into the darkness.
"I don't know. I didn't see anything big enough to make that sound. I agree, this seems to have been a distraction." Celeste takes a few seconds to reload her rifle and says, "Come on, let's go."

It's around 330 am when you set back out. You can guess the time due to the temperature seems to have dropped about 5 degrees, like it does around this time every morning.
Riding is a bit slow still and you eventually pass near the body of the only goblin you were able to down. You can smell burnt flesh mixed with the smell of ichor from the creature with a couple of odd bodily noises you can't just place.
It's another 15 minutes and you arrive in the area you believe you left the herd for the night. It's mostly grasslands with the ravine just to the south of you. As slight breeze seems to crawl across the land, the tall grasses around you sway and their dried reeds creak faintly. About 70 ft. ahead of you, you see coals of a camp fire flare red, reacting to the breeze. Around you you hear the distinct moo's and snorts of cattle. As you draw closer the cattle scatter a bit from the sound of your approach.
A second light breeze flows across the land and with it you catch the scent of human blood.
Rictor sniffs the air and frowns. "Blood. C'mon, one of our heifers might be hurt," he says, spurring his horse onward. He moves to within 30 feet of the fire and if he doesn't run into any monsters on the way he casts Thaumaturgy on the dying light of the fire, making the flames flicker back to life, bright as it was when it was first lit.
Keth rides behind Rictor, his eyes darting around, "While we are bound to have lost some cattle, the smell is coppery. I think we need to prepare for tragedy amongst the guards."
Your fears are realized as you make it to the camp fire area.
To the left approximately 6 ft. of the fire you find the man you knew as Hen. Hen's body is riddled with arrows.
To the right about 10 ft. away, you find the body of a man you knew as Ronnie. Ronnie is face down and facing away from the fire. A large rock covered in blood rests on Ronnie's back, his spine crushed.
Both men's packs have been rifled through and items from them are thrown around the fire.
Val's points out a couple of goblin foot prints.
You spend about 20 minutes around the camp when you hear horses with riders approaching from the way you rode from. It's the boss and 3 riders. "What did ya'll find?" he asks.
(if there are other things you would like to do before the Boss' arrival, post)
Keth looks over the camp with saddened eyes, "These were good men, good friends. What a shame. We know these goblins are nearby, we should hunt them down."
The native moves to the bodies and lays a feather from a pouch on each of them whispering, "May they fly you to rest."
"Blast it. I'm sorry, y'all. They'll not be getting away with it." Celeste says a quick prayer before saying, "We oughta wait for the boss before going after the Goblins."

Rictor: you find next to nothing in the belongings of the 2 dead men. You do however find a small silver locket clutched in the hand of Hen. You notice the clasp is broken.
Keth: You place a feather on both dead men and say your small prayer.
Celeste: You say your short prayer.
Boss Bennet looks around a bit. "Appears we will have to wait till sun up and get the cattle rounded up and get a count to see if we lost any." He says. "Let's get to diggin a couple graves for them that's gone on."
With that the 2 that came with the boss pull out a couple of shovels from their packs and start digging a couple of shallow graves. The work is hard and after about 3 feet they hit sandstone and can't dig any further. You help wrap the remains of each in blankets they had. It's at this time you realize their horses are gone.
Standing over the graves Boss Bennet takes off his hat and says "Anyone got a Preacher's tongue about them and can say a few words for these that have gone on".
Rictor pockets the locket and hustles over to Boss Bennet.
Clearing his throat, he steps up. "I, uh- I don't have the best relationship with the Lord myself, but I was brought up by a preacher," he says, bowler hat slowly turning in his hands. "Two good men died tonight. I didn't know them that well, but I do know that they're in God's hands now. And, well, that's a damn sight better than being in this place."
Before stepping back he makes the sign of the Cross and mutters, "In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, amen."

Question about shillelagh : can I cast it in my rifle to whack someone with it? Do I risk breaking the rifle hitting with it?
Val will try to punch one of the goblins
Attack: 12 Damage: 3
Paladin - warforged - orange
I'd allow the spell to affect the rifle but, after a couple of times I'd say a save vs. breaking would be in order.
The Goblins are in the air so...punching them may not be an option...unless you have some ability that allows you to range punch.
(OCC My bad): Ok..The goblins are approximately 15 ft. away and in the air when they turn.

Attack against Goblin 1: 14 Damage: 10
Attack against Goblin 1: 25 Damage: 5
Attack against Goblin 2: 13 Damage: 9
Rictor fires his pistol. 3 Firey Bolts fire into the air at the goblins. Only 1 hits goblin 1 and it is set ablaze but stays on it's mount.
The rest of the party may take an attack of opportunity if they desire.
Keth stands and lowers his rifle, "We should make haste to the herd, these four were probably just trying to deter us." He takes a quick look around for his horse.
