Keth stands back, while he understands the religions of others he has his own beliefs. He wonders at the missing horses and it nags at him. Brushing off the collected dirt from helping to build the graves he moves off, hoping to find where the horses would have been. Crouching occasionally, hoping to find tracks on which way they might have went.
Rictor whips his head round suddenly, staring behind him. When he turns back he looks shaken, his skin normally tan from life on the trail pallid.
Stuffing his hat back on his head he walks over to Val and nods at the goblins' tracks. "I've got the sand to go after these varmints if you all do," he says, checking the ammo on his revolver out of habit. The chamber was, as usual, empty.
“Sure, I’ve got it in me. But what kind o‘ thief kills men in cold blood, takes their belongings, and then either leaves or forgets a whole silver coin? Ain’t like one I’ve ever seen.” Val shows the odd coin to the others.
(Was waiting for a response from our friend across the pond but, will continue)
The men gather around, removing their hats and bowing their heads as Rictor says a few words. There is a moment of silence then two of the men take up their shovels and start to bury the dead men. Once buried the others put their hats on and turn to Boss Bennet.
Dawn breaks across the grasslands. The cool morning air seems to be portent to what is to come when fall and winter hit. Boss Bennet doesn't say much as he goes about getting things from his saddle bags to make coffee-pot, canteen and a small bag of coffee. After a few minutes he has the coffee brewing and the aroma rises through the air and mingles with the cool morning air.
The coffee brewed, Boss Bennet offers each of you some, as long as you can provide your own cup. It sits and thinks for a moment, as time passes. Abruptly he looks up. "We need to get these cattle herded up and get a count of how many we have left. Ya'll get to your horses and lets get to work." he says then drains his coffee cup, spills out the remainder and heads to his horse.
(Post any responses you have. I'll be posting the second part soon)

Celeste gratefully takes the coffee. She's not much of a morning person. "Thanks boss."
Taking a look at the coin, she says, "What the devil kinda sorcery is this? This is silver, but it looks more like a calling card than something left behind. Do we got a cult out here?"

In the light of the morning Rictor looks at the coin with a scrutinizing eye. "Could be magical. Or an eldritch trinket of some kind. Couldn't tell you why goblins would have it, though," he says, smoothing wax into his mustache as thinks.
Rictor uses the Arcanaskill to check if the coin has any magical ties.
"Mount up!" you all hear Boss Bennet yell "We got a long day ahead of us. You 4 (Bennet points to the party) head south and circle back in. Pick up any strays you can find." he pauses. "Once you find what you find, herd them back to the base camp, not here and do it before night fall."
With that Bennet mounts up and is off with the other cowboys. Each of you know that it will take the better part of the day to get this task done.
OCC: Ok going to need Survival skills to track the cows (add a +2 to the rolls because cows are cows) and Animal Handling Skill checks to get the cows back to the Base camp.
OCC2: if you've ever tried to herd cattle you know it will be an all day affair :P.
Val hops to the task at hand. Goblins can wait for a better plan. But he takes the time to ritually cast speak with animals to assist him in his dealings with the cows.

Rictor holds his tongue about the coin until the boss is well out of earshot and the others had already begun wrangling the cattle.
"Hey, Val. You, uh, might not want to hold on to that coin," he says, nodding at the piece of silver. "That's a Devil's coin. Has the blood of innocents in it. Nasty piece of work."

Everyone easily pick up the trail of the scattered cattle. It's getting them rounded up which is the hard part....until.
Each of you have seen this before. Val gets off his horse and spends a few moments muttering in a strange language.Something akin to Gaelic and some form of Indian. You watch as Val starts talking to a couple of the cattle.
Val: as you speak with a couple of the cattle they, in turn, let you know where more of their kind can be found.
With Val's "Cow Whisperer" abilities it takes the party a little over half the day to find and round up about 38 head of cattle, a size that will take some work but manageable by the 4 of you.
The cattle appear calm and you get them to a nice grazing spot so you decide to take a few moments to rest and maybe grab a bite to eat. You let your horses graze as you do.
The approach of horses can be heard. Keth spots them first as well, a group of 10 riders coming from the east just over a rise. The seem to change course and are heading in your direction.
Keth stands, clapping his hands together to clean off the dirt, "We have company coming in, bout ten of them. I will move to the back, don't want any of them getting itchy about my heritage." He steps back bit to allow the others a more prominent place.
Rictor straightens at the sound of approaching riders, wiping his brow. "Not a bad idea. Keep your rifle handy, I'll approach unarmed but if they get any funny ideas let 'em have it," he says with a sly grin.
Waving his black hat above his head he steps closer to the group of horsemen. He casts Thaumaturgy and uses it to amplify his voice, shouting, "Woah there, gentlemen! I think that's far enough until you tell us why you all are bearing down on us friendly wranglers."

Val makes a reverent gesture towards the sky, but appears distracted by a silver coin he has in hand. He turns it over several times, examining it
