It takes you a good deal of the afternoon, but after maintaining a steady pace you roll towards the tiny settlement, nestled in the outskirts of the High Forest. A crumbling keep overlooks the little village, and an old lodge (in obvious need of some maintenance) rests on a rise at the far end of the settlement, amid the low stone cottages and stables. Further on you see some small farms, but they look like they might be abandoned.
You might have heard that Noanar's Hold once attracted wealthy hunters, but from the looks of things, the town has more recently fallen on hard times. You see a couple villagers tending their gardens, but they walk briskly towards their houses when they see you approaching and shut themselves in.
"How about we go to the inn rather than straight to the seat of power?"
"We can get a room, find out where we're supposed to deliver these harnasses and ask about the barbarian tribes, like the good lady from earlier today mentioned - remember everyone: we do not mention her name here."
When you enter the White Hart Inn, the first thing you might notice is that the creaky building is well maintained on the inside, offering a bit of grandeur in an otherwise rustic setting. The innkeeper is a courteous little Chondathan man who introduces himself as "Avgar Filroy, at your service!"
A broom pushes itself across the lodge's floor in the other room, and chairs pull themselves out as you approach as if to invite you to sit. Dishes and glasses likewise are being shined by rags as if held by invisible hands behind the bar.
"Why, the hunt, of course!" chimes Filroy. "The Hunt Lords are so cliquish, but it's good for them to have some healthy competition every now and again. Hey! Would you care for some cabbage soup?"
"Yes, I wouldn't mind some cabbage soup, actually. I'm not much of a hunter myself, but I'm always up for a little competition. Our compatriot here is a stellar huntsman - what sort of game do your Hunt Lords hunt?"
"Hmm? The Hunt Lords?" asks Avgar Filroy as he goes behind the bar. "Oh, all sorts. Truth be told, they've technically retired...and they don't really like to be disturbed. So I don't get the chance to talk to em much.
"Oh and by the way," he continues as he fills some stoneware bowls, "you'll want to stay in the lodge at night. No wandering. The land around Noanar’s Hold is haunted by the spirits of dead hunters."
"dead spirits? sounds exciting but a solid pass for now. what do you know of barbarian clans, specifically the tiger clan? See the took something important of mine and i need to find them to get it back"
"Haunted. Well, why don't you guys get a priest of Lathandar to help banish the spirits and get the place unhaunted? It must be a real inconvenience to have to stay inside at night."
"When we go deliver the harnesses, perhaps we can speak to these Hunt Lords - if they're as prolific hunters as Mr. Filroy makes them seem to be, they likely have good knowledge of the land - possibly the barbarian clans included."
Upon hearing Filroy and Angel expound about the "dead hunters," Ink comments, "Well, that is an inconvenience - I wonder how that came about... Priest of Lathandar? Why? We have a Cleric of Moradin right here! Perhaps we can find out about the barbarians AND discover the truth about these hauntings... always did like a good mystery."
// edited to add a bit of my written personality to it... have to remind myself to keep track of my original traits/bonds/flaws. //
"dead spirits? sounds exciting but a solid pass for now. what do you know of barbarian clans, specifically the tiger clan? See the took something important of mine and i need to find them to get it back"
"Ooh, barbarians, how exciting!" Filroy's red face lights up. "The Hunt Lords used to kill those dreadful barbarians, back in the glory days. Now...the barbarians stay away. I'm not sure what clan they were, but I remember as a young child seeing a fearsome warrior with brilliant blue eyes and wild, black hair. I was lost in the woods, and I thought for sure he would kill me. But then he didn't!" He muses for a moment.
"The Hunt Lords used to hunt the barbarians...they might know more about it! But they really don't like to be disturbed."
"Haunted. Well, why don't you guys get a priest of Lathandar to help banish the spirits and get the place unhaunted? It must be a real inconvenience to have to stay inside at night."
Angel, says curiously about the haunting.
"Well if you have a cleric with you I suppose that's something," says Filroy. "What's that?" he asks, inclining his ear towards the broom pushing itself across the floor. "Oh! Yes indeed, that will do nicely."
"When we go deliver the harnesses, perhaps we can speak to these Hunt Lords - if they're as prolific hunters as Mr. Filroy makes them seem to be, they likely have good knowledge of the land - possibly the barbarian clans included."
"Oh yes..." Filroy nods. "If you want an audience with the Hunt Lords, you'll have to first speak to Amrath Mulnobar, the castellan of the Hunt Lords’ keep. Very friendly fellow!"
On to Noaner's holds I think, any seconds?

"Aye, that's as good a place ta start as any. I think these harnesses go ta th' castellan. Figured 'e'd be in th' keep. "
“I’m fine with starting wherever but, we probably shouldn’t separate any longer. Who knows when and where the giants will strike next?”
Angel comments
"Don't mention who?" Marav already forgot her name . "Let's get a room. Maybe someone there will have an idea "
