Out of game, JC is exceptionally happy about the goats. I love the little statues!
Crownsguard bows politely. However, he will allow the others to negotiate here, as he does not know these people. They are tiny. This does not factor into why he allows the others to discuss, but he believes that it is worth noting.

“We have been in contact with the giant known as Harshnag the Grim. He has assisted us in working against the giants. He was last seen battling the dragon, Imyrilith. There are many different forces at play here. I do not believe giants are the only shadow that looms in this new era.” Crownsguard pauses, “Also, hello. I am Crownsguard, your esteemed, elite envoy. “I had heard reports of an intelligent construct, but I confess I had my doubts,” smiles Queen Tithmel. “Nonetheless, I would remind you that the most pressing concern to us is the fire giant clan on our doorstep. There are always evils and dangers in the North—one could run oneself ragged trying to chase down every last threat.”
"What do you know of this clan? How many giants are we looking at?" he pauses thoughtfully, "Also, to help with our journey, do you happen to have any healing type potions we could have? Giants are no joke and anything you can spare will increase the likelihood of our eliminating this threat."
“We’ve only heard reports. We haven’t been able to spare scouts—as I said, it would be up to you to investigate and remove the threat,” says the Queen. “Our resources are spoken for elsewhere at the moment, but if you were to handle this threat, as I said, you will be to richly rewarded.”
"Along with the very generous reward you are offering, could we assume that if we were to 'eliminate the threat' we could claim the now empty space?" Ink asks.
---- After break in conversation. ----
"Thank you for the kind words your majesties, if there is any other information you or your scouts could provide of the stronghold or its surrounding areas, such as other settlements or known inhabitants, it would be appreciated. Outside of that, I think we will resupply and be on our way."
On the way out, Ink will ask the guards and others about good places to stock up on supplies, ammunition, and shops for the arcane.
"Claim Ironslag?"The King's bushy eyebrows raise. "Perhaps. It is ancient, and vast. There are many races and clans who would purport to have some sort of claim already to it, so you would have to expect much political to-do if you were to attempt such a thing."
The Queen and King summon one of their chief strategists to discuss the particulars with you, and inform you that he'll meet you over dinner. If there is nothing else, they give you permission to leave.
Once you reach the dining hall—another grand room, richly appointed—the captain of the guards meets you and lays out the situation as they know it. He brings a map with him, and points as he explains. “North of the Silver Marches, here, is a range of mountains known as the Ice Spires. The great dungeon-forge of Ironslag is under the we call Mount Hamarhaast" (those of you who speak dwarf language will understand the meaning, "hammer of ashes").
The dwarf then describes the surrounding area. "There is a village belonging to a Yalkfolk tribe at the top of this cliff. They have never been friends of the dwarves, so beyond their location I have no useful information about them. Their village is at the top of what is known as the Twelve Thousand Steps. 500 feet, straight up. And then there's the main door—carved into the base of a cliff on this side of the mountain, under the yakfolk village, is a pair of giant-sized, adamantine doors—sealed by ancient magic, they say, and even airtight."
He adjusts his seating and continues, "In addition to reports of fire giants operating in the area, there have reportedly also been goblinoids, orcs, and ogres. As far as we know, they have found a way through the adamantine doors, or else an alternate route. The reason we are sending you is because we have very little information on the situation. Whatever information you can gather might mean that we could mount an offensive, or perhaps call on allies in the area. But in a real sense, we are blind to what is going on under the mountain, and we have no clear way in to investigate."
Crownsguard puts a robotic thumb to his dwarf-like faceplate, as he looks at the map. After a moment, he dings, “According to my diagnostics, we have a 0.3152 percent chance of making it out of this situation alive. However, that is higher than our usual, so that is good.”

"Ye say th' d-doors're sssealed. How d'we g-get in?"
"The same way the giants did, I'd reckon," replies the dwarf. "Might be worth checking around the yakfolk village, but I've never trusted those people."
“Or it could be it’s not worth the fire giants’ time to deal with them,” says the Guard captain. “All the way up those stairs. Anyway, best get going. You’re guests of the crown,” he says, nodding to all of you, including Saarvin (the dragon born ranger is still tagging along with you). “You are to be given quarters for the night, and provisions for your journey in the morning.”
Flint is able to purchase ingredients here at a moderate price. There are several dwarven merchants who welcome your gold.
For Flint's wound, the dwarven physicians recommend that you see a healer in a large city. They are stumped; they've never seen anything like it. In the meantime, they recommend rest.
