Class: Paladin (Oath of Redemption) (If there's an issue using this subclass let me know and I can work up a different character)

Backstory:
Every morning Saiba woke up with a start, the same memories replaying as nightmares every single night. He long ago stopped wondering if these "dreams" would ever stop. He knew full well that they were reminders of who he once was and that this was simply a part of his penance; one he had zero expectation of ever truly completing. Slowly rousing himself from his bedroll, taking longer and longer as he quickly headed towards the beginning of middle age, Saiba performed his usual morning ritual before donning his old armor and continuing on the route he'd started.
As he walked down the dusty dirt path he'd been traveling on, his mind once again drifted off to his past life and the actions that had lead him to the current life he lead. From the people he'd beaten, stolen and killed from his time as a mercenary to the mad rampages he went on for "just causes" that eventually caused him to lose his family and almost everything he had once held dear. To the divine intervention that saved his life and convinced him that redemption was possible, even for someone with a life like his.
Coming back to the present, Saiba refocused on what he felt he needed to do next. After spending years in isolation, he managed to find forgiveness for himself for the actions of the past. Knowing that his new life path was only partially complete, he left isolation to continue his journey of redemption; this time by trying to bring positive change in others as he had learned to do for himself, or stop them before they turned into "monsters" like he once was.
I'd like to throw my hat into the mix, if I still can.
Character name: Veyran Devos
Race: Kalashtar
Class: Sorcerer (Wild Magic)
Background: Urchin
Ability scores: 121512171411
Backstory:
Growing up on the street after his parents passed away from an illness, Veyran was never truly alone. No one could see it, but there was another presence that inhabited his mind. There were two minds coexisting within him. Although he couldn't see it, he could feel the presence of this entity. He didn't particularly mind it however, as he could still master of his own body. He would steal food and coin to get by during his childhood. Then someday, his powers awakened. He was able to produce magic. However, this is also where the problems began to appear. As their were two minds coexisting within him, the power was shared by both. But Veyran and the entity didn't seem to see eye to eye. Where Veyran wanted to use magic to serve his needs, the entity seemed to want to use it for more altruistic ends. This divergence of intent would end up causing surges of uncontrolled magic. Most of them were harmless. One day, as Veyran was trying to use a spell to protect himself from another urchin trying to steal his food, he released a surge of magic that burned half of the bully's face off. No other children would try to approach him after this day. He felt more alone then ever. Until an old wizard heard of Veyran "exploit". She found the boy and offered him to come with her. The wizard, a woman by the name of Myranda, proposed to train Veyran to control his powers...to an extent. For the next couple of years, Veyran learned magic from Myranda, who became sort of like the mother he barely knew. He learned to cope with having a dual mind and even to use it to his advantage in some way. Eventually, Myranda passed away form old age. After that, Veyran stepped out into the world, on a journey of discovery: for the world and himself.

Name: Rowan
Race: Tiefling
Class: Wizard
Background: Noble
Ability Scores: 16811181312
Backstory:
From the moment of her birth, Rowan was a disappointment to her family. She came from a long line of human nobles, so it was quite a shock when she was born with blue skin, a tail, and tiny horns sprouting from her head. Fearing what people might think of them producing a devil child, her parents kept Rowan locked inside the house and told their friends they had suffered a miscarriage. Growing up, Rowan never understood why her four siblings could come and go as they pleased, but she was trapped in the confines of their estate. Her parents said it was for her own good, but she never fully believed them. As she became older, she began to suspect the truth – that they were not protecting her, but their own reputations.
In addition to her odd appearance, Rowan was also a failure at her training. It was tradition in her family that children learn the use of blades, though they would likely never need the skill. Her siblings all excelled at it, but Rowan fumbled with every sword and dagger that was put in her hands. One night, as she stumbled back to her room on aching legs after yet another unsuccessful training session, she accidentally triggered the entrance to a secret room. Curiosity piqued and exhaustion forgotten, she went inside and saw that it was a tiny library. Opening a few of the dust-covered tomes, it became clear that the collection was themed around spells and magic.
Rowan returned to the hidden library as often as she could, eventually learning to cast a few of the spells she read about. But, she grew careless, and about a month after discovering the room, she was caught by her father. This seemed to be the final straw, and within the hour, she was cast out onto the streets with only the clothes on her back and a single book she managed to smuggle out. After that, she cut all ties with her family, moving to a new city, going only by her first name, and claiming she grew up in an orphanage. She learned to summon an orange tabby cat who she named Mara, and the animal became her only companion. She found work at a bookstore that gave her enough coin to live comfortably. In her free time, she continued learning magic, hoping that some day she would have an opportunity to use it.
Background: Outlander. Omik was never one of the muscular boys in the village, he always preferred to stick to the mountains and streams, picking enemies out with bow and arrow instead of axes. Only he survived for he was climbing the mountains again while the other members of the tribe were working in the huts.

Hi, i am going to throw my hat in the ring here if I may.
A quick note about myself. The username is only slightly tongue in cheek, perhaps the kindest way to describe me would be as a veteran gamer. I played a lot of different roleplaying games for 15 year or so until family responsibilities cut out my regular gaming time. In the years since then I have played a couple of PbP (different game systems to D&D) one of which faded out after a year and the other kept going strong for 5 years until work pressures made me drop out.
So onto character

Backstory
The name on the letter, it seems strange to you?
Well. I will tell you what I can.
My proper name was taken from me when they bound my minds in chains of slavery. I was made to serve them for the length of a human lifetime. I brewed potions and perfumes for them but I think mostly I was a pretty trophy to parade their power and wealth - for it is not easy to enslave one of my race. If the siblings had not squabbled over power when the patriarch died I might never have been free, while they fought the guild took pity on my plight and broke the bonds of iron and magic which bound me. Nameless I fled.
Now I am in a new place I have a new name. I call myself an Earth Witch because I have the blood of my mother in my veins. The secret magics of the deep earth whisper to me; I categorise and give them name and through my alchemical skills I give them form. My given name simply means freedom, I have taken it both in celebration and in defiance of any who would try to take it away again.
I quite like leaving parts of the backstory mysterious before a game starts. Questions of who enslaved her, who freed her and where her parents are will be more fun to discover in-game than if I just write them out now.
It is maybe worth noting that while her class is Artificer she is definitely more at the mysterious and herbalistic end of Alchemy rather than having a steampunk vibe. Very much a character who will want a cauldron to be central to her magic. Visually i am taking a lot of inspiration from the painting The Magic Circle

We have decided that the setting will be very similar to the Forgotten Realms, in fact it will be the Forgotten Realms. However, the DM's are free to add their own changes to the setting, so it could be a different Forgotten Realms than you are familiar with in the end.

They didn't choose to drop the lowest.
Also, the dice roller has been a bit broken recently. That roll, if you hover above it, shows that it should be a 16, if they had dropped the lowest. Here are what their rolls should be based on the tooltips.

Weizol L'varr was what his small elven community had called, a 'Beloved of Wild Ones'. Apparently it happened from time to time. And he could move from one spot to the next in an instant. He had a hard time convincing the other elven children to play tag.
Growing up, he had a fairly mundane life as a a mediocre wizard's apprentice with a hobby in dragonchess. He may never have left his home town if his fate was up to himself... But it was not. One night in a storm an old friend showed up at his door caked in dried blood and mud, holding a -(Inheritance, requires DM's input)-
Unable to keep such a secret hidden and unwilling to stand idly by while his friend is mired in conspiracy, he sets out from home.
