The windmill's remains slowly vanish behind you. The rain stops. The sun, hidden by the clouded sky, can still be seen, sinking into the horizon. The mist seems to thicken. The trees you pass appear menacing, their branches seeming to reach out for you. Ravens soar through the air above you every five minutes. The sun has given in to the night, yet Vallaki is still a mile away. The moon is rising in the east. An almostfull moon. Suddenly, you hear a sound from the south that makes you spines shiver: the cold, lonesome howling of a wolf. Another howler joins the first, then another, and another after that. Soon, the air is full of the howling of dozens of wolves, hidden in the mist.
You make out the walls of Vallaki about three-hundred yards away. But then, you hear a howl in the woods no more than fifty yards away.

The werewolves chase after you, moving with surprising speed. You make it to the gates. They are closed.
"What do you want?" says the guard, seemingly ignoring the werewolves getting ever closer to you.

The guard sighs and opens the gate, letting you all through. Then he casually shuts the gate, just as the werewolves reach it. The growl and gnash their teeth, enraged that they cannot reach you.

"Thanks..." snaps Byllemura. Looking at the group: "To the inn, shall we? Let's bring the kids to Ireena and then I wouldn't mind a strong drink and food. I have had my share of emotions for today."
Valanthe puts the children down and breathes heavy. "I don't like having to sprint in chain mail - but after dealing with those hags, I don't think we'd be able to do much against a pack of werewolves. I agree with Byllemura - to the inn and rest."
When you reach the inn, you are greeted with silence as you enter the tavern. Urwin Martikov, the innkeeper, says nothing but stares at you from the bar. Ireena is sitting at a table, drinking from a wooden mug. Valentin, the boy you saved from Morgantha in Vallaki, is nowhere to be seen.
Valanthe hears heavy breathing, leading her gaze to the children that you just saved. Beads of cold sweat run down his face. He is extremely pale. The girl is rubbing away tears.
