Helena Liadon
Race- Eladrin (Variant)
Class- Gloomstalker Ranger
Alignment- Chaotic Good
Backstory- Helena had never wanted to come here. She had been perfectly happy in her mountains, killing zombies and driving away the odd ghoul or two. It was easier with no one around. No one to worry about anymore except herself. But that was before her nerdy wizard of a sister disappeared while looking for a magical staff of something or other. Helena hadn’t thought Julia would need to be warned against the continent of death, but apparently she had been wrong. One mention of a cool stick and she goes without a second thought into the unknown. Helena hated the unknown, it scared her, made her remember when she couldn’t fight back. When her father was cut down from the shadows, her mother riddled with arrows, her brother dragged away to never be seen again. And her twin sister, badly injured protecting her, even losing her eye so that Helena alone could be safe from harm. It was why she had trained so hard to understand how to fight the unknown, make it fear her instead. And now Julia, the only one she had left, decided to head to Alycron. To find a stick. Helena knew that Julia could take care of herself, but she also knew darkness better than before, and it had a habit of taking things from Helena. So here she was, getting off a boat and taking her first steps on Alycron, to search for the creepiest and most dangerous places she could find, because those are the only places Julia would go. The most dangerous and deadliest... Helena might need some help.
Tam was suffocating. He couldn't stay at the monastery any longer or he would go mad. The days and days of endless repetition. Nothing, nothing was ever going to change. Just endless sameness. He had to get out, he didn't care what his parents would say. No...that wasn't true though, he cared very deeply what they would say. He couldn't go home, the church would follow him. His parents would turn him in. He had to run. Anywhere. Anywhere had to be better than here.
A boat. That was it. He could take a boat. Away from here. He could find his way? Yes, anywhere is better than here. He would find his way. On a boat. It had to be today. Any boat, going anywhere. Now. He would go now. Take a few things. Not too many, that would bring suspicion. No just a few things. No one would miss him, not in the sameness. No one. He would just go. Go and be gone. No commitments. Free!
Sounds like a very cool idea with a ton of opportunity for good roleplaying. Would love to be part of this.

Backstory-
Many years ago, an offer of absolution was levied in a bar. A cleric stood before his desolate and mostly drunk audience, proclaiming loudly for their salvation. He says that even the poorest, most vile soul may be saved, and that service in the name of the Church offers penance worthy of heaven. To this, one man stood and laughed. He asked how many years might such an ordeal take. The cleric responded with a list of deeds and their respective times. For adultery, 2 years of service. For theft, 3 years of service. Even treacherous murder, the unholiest of all sins, may be absolved for 5 years of service. Bayman slammed his drink down, exclaiming proudly,
"Sign me up for 10!"
He spent the next 9 years in bitter anguish. Between very public acts of charity, The church asked him to privately perform many awful deeds. On his final year of service, he was sent across the sea with a letter from the man who'd given him his deal.
"Establish a following for the Church. When you are finished, you may retire to whatever life is allowed one such as you. Know that God has appreciated your sacrifice."
I was born into the house of Lyrandar, and was boating in the ocean at 7. when I was 12, i went on my first solo expedition into the ocean. it started out normal, but on my second day, all chaos broke out.
I was sailing fast, and the sea where calm. my task was to deliver a message, and i had made incredible time, already half way their when i should have been more like a third or fourth of the way. but half way through the day, storm clouds began to gather. out of the storm clouds, a pillar of lightning seemed to move straight to my boat. i pulled out my crossbow, holding it ready, but knowing it would do nothing to stop a storm giant, for that's what the pillar of lightning was. is came near me, and from the lightning pillar, i heard a voice say in primordial: "how dare you enter my territory" then, i saw a blue skinned hand as big as my boat momentarily come into view as it waved ti hand out side of the pillar, and imminently, the winds picked up from around 20 MPH to around 150 MPH, and my boat flew back, getting launched into the air, then hitting the water upside down, forcing me underwater. that probably saved my life, because right after that, a beam of lightning slammed into the boat, instantly burning it to a crisp.
I attempted to get to the surface, but i was to far under. i swam and swam as fast as i could to the surface, but my struggles got weaker and weaker, until i fell unconscious.
i woke up a long time later, in a completely unfamiliar town, surrounded by completely unfamiliar wilderness. by my side were completely unfamiliar sea elves who said they nursed me back to health. this is when i decided that i would spend the rest of my life becoming strong so i could eventually kill the evil storm giant.
Backstory- On the day he broke his brother’s neck in combat, Vimak Hellbringer Katho-Laga realized that his Goliath tribe held no more challenges for him. His mother was its matriarch. She could, he thought then, beat him, but not for long. He was growing larger each day. She was becoming small in the way of the aged. The tribe would want him to replace her, he thought, and replacing her meant combat. He will not admit it to anyone, least of all himself, but that was the day he became interested in other peaks and maps of distant southern lands, seeking to leave The Spine of the World behind. The next month he did leave his tribe and his younger brothers and sisters. He soldiered in Neverwinter for a time. Now he explores the world looking for a challenge and to feed himself by adventuring. And what could be more challenging than a new continent, this Alycron and its town Trishdale?
As a young Goliath, Vimak ran away from home. On the second day away, on the side of a mountain, he realized he was being stalked by a saber-toothed tiger. He made it home alive, but he is afraid of cats. Also, having been raised on a mountain, he fears large bodies of water. He's okay on a ship, especially far from the rails, but swimming panics him. He's not good at it.

Backstory- She was tired. So very tired. Only twenty one, and yet she had seen so much wrong in the world. Her family, gone in one of those stupid wars waged by one robber-king against another. Her leg, mangled and permanently scarred. Damn guard couldn't due their job, allowed that ghoul to get into the city. Still had nightmares of those wild eyes... Even her church, nearly as corrupt as the robber-kings who took her family from her. They spoke of what was Holy, when they knew not what was right. She did her absolute best to do what was right, but there was too much. Too much pain, too much suffering. Too many wounds that needed to be healed, too many hungry mouths to feed, too little aid from the Church for charity. If she kept going at the rate she was going, she was going to kill herself. Or simply stop caring, and become like all the other corrupt priests who did not care.
Rumors reached her though. Alycron, an entirely new continent, and a settlement. Trishdale. Someplace outside the reach of the kings, arguably outside the reach of the Church. A fresh slate, someplace... clean. It... had to be a sign. This was what was right, going to this new land. It would be a fresh start, separated by vast distance. It was a new field, a new flock. No briars to strangle the life from the plants, no wolves disguised as hunting dogs to prey upon her flock. The predators' were predators, plain to see, if supposedly horrifically monstrous. They... they had to be wiped clean. This new land must be made safe, for it would be salvation. If it was not the haven it was destined to be now, then it must be made into one. She spoke to her superiors in the Church and got passage aboard a ship, symbol clutched tightly in one hand. There was holy work to be done. She would see it through, even if it was the last thing she would do.
Veil of a Mask, nickname Veil, was forced to join an army as a child. She trained until she was a teen and then went to war for her master. She thought she was on the side of good, but it turned out that she was helping an evil man conquer other lands. Once she realized this she left and set out on her own to try and redeem herself. So she went to Alycron where no one knew her and she could start again.
Alignment: Chaotic Evil (I have listed Fayn as chaotic evil because of his current state, but this is mostly based around robbery and cheating at gambling for coin. At his core Fayn is not evil, just a bit lost, but the campaign could tug him in either direction.)
Backstory: Fayn is the younger of two sons of noble House Ostoroth. With his father ailing and no word from his missing brother in over a decade, the young elf was expected to become the head of his house. This was a duty the young elf took seriously in honor of his father's wishes, and not for pride, power or riches. At the news of his father's condition, however, Fayne's brother returned home suddenly with a retinue of personal guards and seized control of the house, attempting to kill Fayne in the process. Only his minor magic saved Fayn's life that day, and he was hunted every day since before boarding a ship across the sea to Trishdale. Leaving his distraught mother and sister behind, the young Ostoroth hoped to find safety and buy time...but for what?
Now in a whole new world, Fayn was determined to find his own strength and return some day to remove his brother, reunite with his mother and sister, and together put things right in honor of his father. Having not more than knowledge and a bit of magic which he tried to expand upon, Fayn's funds quickly ran out in Trishdale and the young elf soon lost his way. Now, many months later, we find an elf that has lost much of his hope and his fury, one who has resorted to cheating at cards and common thievery just to get by and maybe pursue his magic a bit further some day. Although he has lost much of his hope for it, what Fayn needs is just enough of a nudge to get him moving again, and perhaps a bit of coin to fund the expensive practice that is magical study.
Backstory- Temple grew up in an isolated community who called themselves The Circle. She spent the earliest part of her youth knowing only the ways of her community and never setting eyes on a stranger.
She was praised for her healing abilities as a child, but as Temple grew she developed new arcane abilities and visions of the future which separated her from her community and caused others to look at her as a curiosity. Their leader devised a plan to be rid of Temple's growing influence on the community: he banished her from their home, leading her deep into the wilds one moonless night. The test, he told the community, was simple: if Temple was able to survive the wilderness alone and find her way home, they would know they could trust her visions and welcome her back to their tight-knit family.
Temple never returned.
Her visions led her from the wilderness to the coast, where crowds of people were headed to a new land. Terrible visions clouded her mind, yet she felt drawn to the ships and found herself stowing away and sailing towards a new life.
Temple remains perplexed by many common norms in society, due to her isolated communal upbringing. She doesn't speak of much that happened to her on her journey, and remains terrified of being alone. She can be a bit of a packrat, having learned the consequences of traveling without food or access to shelter.

Now he is ready for his next chapter. An uncharted world, waiting for someone to document its mountainous ranges, dank swamps, and various dirt tracks leading off into the wilderness.
