As you enter the Yawning Portal, your ears are assaulted by noise. Looking around the famed tavern, you see a number of figures that catch you eyes. Behind the bar is a tall human, pouring drinks and calling out to patrons. In one corner you see a half-orc and goliath trapped in an arm wrestling competition. Bonnie is hurrying between tables, passing out drinks. Across the room a large crowd of humans, dwarves, and halflings are cheering and shouting while gambling with dice. A loud group of adventurers are being lowered down into a giant well in the middle of the tavern to go explore Undermountain. The rest of the tavern is full of adventurers of all shapes and sizes drinking to past glories, meeting with old acquaintances, making new friends, and planning future endeavors.

Bandar Stoneshaft
Stepping quietly into the common room, a burly dwarf heads to the bar. He looks around with some amusement at the merrymakers. At the bar he orders an ale - "Not the cheap swill, give me something good," - and takes his tankard over to the crowd watching and betting on the arm wrestling. The warrior-poet takes a seat and quietly watches the match. With the smallest of smirks, he moves his fingers surreptitiously, and suddenly a puff of air blows right into the goliath's ear.
If the ploy works, and the half-orc wins, Bandar will muscle his way to the front of the crowd. "You are not finished here, son of Bahgtru," he declares, invoking the orcish god of brute strength. Bandar slaps a silver coin on the tabletop. Sitting heavily, he puts his elbow on the table and his hand in the air in an obvious challenge.
(Bandar casts prestidigitation. If necessary, his athletics check is19.)
Guardian steps into the tavern a bit unsure of himself. He surveys the scene and is once again reminded of his lack of worldly experience. "Stop standing here like an idiot" he mumbles to himself and pushes forward into the tavern. He heads toward the arm wrestling, intrigued. He watches the two contestants "Hmm, bet I could do that" he says absently and continues to watch.
A sweaty, breathless young urchin slips unseen in through the main entrance, and a quick look around finds him in a shadowy corner, watching the front door nervously. Finally relaxing as no-one seems to have followed him, he pulls a somewhat squished pasty from his pocket and starts to devour it, keeping an eye out in his vicinity.
A short while after, his breathing and nerves restored to their usual calm state, he takes a longer moment to take in the inn's clientele, eyes widening at the variety of garbs, races and languages contained in the space.
'Proper posh inn, this one...'he mutters to himself.
A lone half-orc's ears twitches at the sound of a hand hitting hard wood. He had a bottle of wine in his hand which he bought with the most recent bounty of his last adventure. He was very strong in his own right from the bulk of his arms, and had experience, but he did not wish to take the risk of losing any of his coin. Natur enjoyed his time in the city and did not wish to leave just yet, maybe what he's been looking for can be here!
Natur speaks to the tall human bartender, "Has there been anything new happening around the city? Noisier than it is down here...?"

Goliath save - 11
The goliath doesn't seem to notice the puff of air. Half-Orc 3, Goliath 13
If anything the puff of air seems to invigorate the goliath who slams the half-orc's arm into the table. Standing up, he bellows, "Who would challenge Kaori?" He looks around and locks eyes on Bandar, "You there dwarf. Think you have what it takes?"
Natur, the bartender turns towards you, "Anything new? Well there has been an uptick in bloodshed between the Zhents and Xanathar thugs. Nothing unusual that though. Every few months they go at it until the city watch cracks enough skulls they decide better of it. Say, you look new here. Durnan at your service."
Guardian is filled with excitement when the Goliath wins the match. The urge to answer the Goliath's challenge is strong, but he waits for the dwarf's answer, clenching and unclenching his hands.
Natur nods his head to the human. "Durnan... Natur."He puts his hand to his chest."I am new to Waterdeep... but that's all? Nothing that would obliterate the city, yes?" Natur would also crane his head every now and then to keep an eye on the arm wrestling.
Durnan laughs, "This city has stood through more disasters than you've seen summer boy. Don't worry, you can earn yourself a name in due time. Keep your eyes open and do your best not to die quickly."
"I'm not really trying to find myself a name... but I'm willing to do some work for this wine. The sweetest I've had Durnan! Though, I'd rather not be called 'boy.' Respectfully. I'm nearing my thirties." Natur's demeanor doesn't change, his attitude still isn't pleasant and not a tone of any threats.

Jeremiah, building up some confidence, heads towards the bar, leaving his shadowy corner for the first time.
’Lookin’ for any helpers, sir? Some of my friends could use work. They’s hard working and reliable.‘ he gives Durnan the full benefit of his large eyed, earnest stare...
The dwarf makes a show of looking to the left and right. "Are you talking to me?" he asks innocently. "Do you always pick on the shortest guy in the room?" he quips, though it's not much of a joke; the goliath isn't quite twice Bandar's height, but certainly more than twice his size. With a sigh, he steps forward and takes his seat across from the behemoth. "Alright, little man," he jabs, "let's see what you've got."
Durnan turns towards Jeremiah and smiles, "Well, I don't think I'm looking for a hand currently. However, I can keep an eye out anyone needing a hand. Perhaps you and the half-orc can find something together, seeing as you both seem to be looking for jobs."
As the goliath and dwarf sit down and lock hands, the half-orc huffs away. The goliath and dwarf begin to go at it. The crowd begins to loudly cheer and more people gather around. (Everyone make a perception check if you are paying attention to the fight.)

Jeremiah rolls his eyes at Durnan - that was about what he expected. He’s trying to pay attention to everything - starting to scope out potential marks in the crowd..
Natur and Jeremiah, you both notice as the half-orc walks away from the arm wrestling and is headed towards a table in the corner. "Bonnie, an ale please," the half-orc calls out to the barmaid. As she does, a small group of tattooed humans begin to follow her. Compared to the rest of the tavern they seem more unsavory.
Natur takes a swig of his wine, about half the bottle left as he watches the tattooed humans follow the barmaid. He has seen tattooed men before, they seem to be more aggressive than most people he's come across, but he's been wrong before.
He'd wrap the leather strap of his totem around the knuckles of his left fist and eyes the crowd intently, ready to move.

Natur would eye the scruffy-looking wizard up-and-down, curious what he is capable of.
