To Prove D&D Exists for Echolon

OOC: Ilyara and Tallboots in the front boat, probably keep a good kayak length apart in case issues happen.  Or at least such would be Ilyara's thought

Ilyara and Tommary lead your merry band of dungeon pirates through darkened tunnels and down steep drops and back to the large menagerie. The water crawlers don't respond as aggressively this time but still close on the kayaks.

Two to the front about 20 feet away and one from the back about 30 feet away from Toots and Elyona.

“Wait, before we go through, do youse think we should tether the bow of ours to the stern of yours so we can’t drift apart if they create a wave when they charge, or the water gets choppy during the fight? You know, so there isn’t an incident like last spring? Don’t you remember? it was about a week past Frostbreak when the large chunk of icicles broke loose from the underneath the overhanging part of the shine. Fell straight down and hit the water so hard that lock pilot couldn’t stop from collidin’ into the ferry and the ferry half capsized in the lock. Remember that whole right side of the canals was shut down forever ‘cause they couldn’t get it unstuck? Anyway, my point was…” Toots pauses as she produces a spare coil of rope from her purse, “…and what about having some of these goin’ d’ya think?” She finished as she pulled out a few torches.

"Nah.  Tie two boats together and they both go off-kilter if one does.  Best to keep individual helms, the place ain't big enough we'd lose sight of each other outside blowin' my ring.  As for torches?  Nah.  Don't like th' thought of srttin' my own boat on fire.  We all got light, neh?  May's well use that," Ilyara said, matching deed to word by igniting the costume jewel on her bracer with her own light spell.

When the crew got their boats going and started touring the upper water ring again, Ilyara glared out at the closest Doom Scampi.  "This's for my belly, ya overgrown shrimp biscuit," she muttered, flicking a claw tip firmly against the blade of her new dagger and setting it to faintly ringing.  The Traveler's bells sounded, blasting the creature's ear-analogues with destructive magic.

Also prooooobably time for Initiative 13.  'Cuz, y'know...reasons.  :P}

"Besides the trip is all luminescent and cool, but where the action is likely to be is already torchlit, wait, hmmm."

OOC: Don't actually wait, Tommary is going to ponder though from whence all that torchlight came as they re-enter the curated space.

OOC: The waterway is a closed circuit, so there isn’t much by way of getting jammed up or pushed out to sea or anything. I was thinking so the monsters didn’t force the two boats apart. A party of PCs is a force, a couple of PCs over here and a couple of PCs over there is called “splitting the party,” and we all know how that can go in combat. At least tethered, if they get between the boats we would at least maintain proximity. If they push your boat far enough away, we won’t be able to get to you quickly enough to help, and vice versa. You weren’t here for the party’s first combat. We spent like, 7 rounds or something charging headlong at the enemy in full view for no reason other than someone decided to charge ahead without us figuring out any plan more detailed than “kill ‘em all.”

And I hadn’t suggested the torches for light, but fire is a very effective animal deterrent. So we could keep some of them at bay with fire and not get overwhelmed all at once. I dunno ‘bout you, but I don’t know nothin’ bout no lonstrocity monsters.

But… too late to worry about that anymore I suppose.

Toots aims her lute at the prow of the boat she and Ely are in and whispers indistinguishably. The prow and the air above it vanish as the armored form of a hulking lobstrocity take their place. Toots turns to Ely and gestures with her head at the two monsters in front of the lead boat. ”Maybe the other two won’t notice us ‘til we can try that one out and find out what we’re up against.” She nodded at the one aft of them as she finished. (Initiative: 17) 🤞

The room is well lit with torches along the walls.

The shell on one of the crawlers cracks with an audible pop. You see milky white blood ooze out of the wound and the fish start to peck at it, while it tries to keep them away with claws.

That’s a lot of oil. (Does he clank when he walks?) And if we need it Toots has 2 more in her purse. But if we used up all of yours on the plan and need what’s in her purse then the plan isn’t working has already not worked we should have changed plans way, waaayy sooner. 🤣😂🤣

OOC:  Tommary doesn't clank when he walks, he's all about securing things to his person through an intricate series of straps (and maybe latch and hooks stuff, but I don't know if we've gone full velcro in t his campaign).   If he's not maximizing the stealthiness of suppleness, he does allow the leather to provide a comforting "creak" to his overall bearing.  His boots, and everything else on him, are made for walking ... or riding in a boat.
