To Prove D&D Exists for Echolon

"Let's see what my initial iconoclasm has excavated before we deliver the finisher," Tommary says examining the lever that's been revealed.  Doing an investigation check to see if I can figure out what the lever or switch does from what I've seen of the place.  13 on investigation.  Depending on what I figure out, next I'd most likely ask "What's in the box! What's in the box!" again by actually checking out the boxes, examining them externally before fiddling to get a look at their contents. Will drop that if the lever proves more intriguing or puzzling.

OOC: I'm down to 20 HP out of 52 and roughly half magic, I have one slot left for invisibility if we like that tactic, or my more offensive magic.  I think I'll be good with a short rest, I'm not sure exactly on our time table but I get the sense that calling it a day's work after just clearing what might be the foyer may be a bit slower tempo than our patrons expect.  My "performance" for song of rest will basically be more of a locker room rally where I provide interactive color commentary praising our exploits, sort of like those moments on Smackdown between matches.  We don't have to role play the whole scene but we can if we want to.  Toots can provide a soundtrack if he can convert the Hulk Hogan anthem "Real American" to something Urth appropriate.

Sorry, "she" regarding Toots, my bad on the pronoun slip.  I've been visualizing her as a small Geddy Lee and I guess that stuck when I was typing about her.  Didn't want to edit because there was a dice roll.

OOC: I don’t know who Geddy Lee is, and I honestly missed the pronoun slip. I may not know how to make that sound “Urth appropriate,” but I’m sure Toots can. (She did just do Wild Stallions. 😉) Toots spent most of that combat running like Gump, so she has almost all of her spell slots left and some interesting tricks still up her sleeve. It seems like we’re doing the Short Rest thing, so you’re likely gonna have to roll that Song of Rest d6 for us as soon as the DM gives us the nod. But that great big mallet will only last another 54 seconds at most, so investigate quickly if you want her to use it at all.

OOC: Everybody go ahead and take a Short rest then.

** Make sure you add an extra 1d6 to your roll for healing due to bardic lullabies.

Regarding time, it's your first day of exploration at the mountain. The whole fight was only about one or two minutes.

Tommary's more interesting in figuring out the workings of this operation ahead of demolishing it.  If we clear it out we can always get a wrecking crew for later.  When he finishes investigating, Tommary engages in back slapping and high fiving and pantomiming everyone's awesome exploits in a song of rest skinned as basically a highlight reel with soundtrack from Toots.

The switch near the statue doesn't give any clue as to what it might do. You don't see any wires or anything obviously connected to it, and it doesn't appear to be a trap.

The boxes jiggle and squeak and let out quiet whimpers. They are chill to the touch and while they do have a catch, they are not locked.

*Toots backs up Tommary with some musical accompaniment from her Lute, and also spends 2 hit dice on the short rest:  7 + 3  Song of Rest.*

OOC: Alright, Toots doesn’t actually need that many HP, she hasn’t lost that many. One of those had to be a 7 and the other had to be an 8, plus 5 from SoR. Even with just the 7 & 5 she’s topped off. Can I please un-spend one of those HD?

"Toots while you're over there overflowing with life or whatever, you wanna watch my back while I figured out what's scurrying inside these boxes?" 

Tommary opens the box and sees a small creature packed in ice. It has blue fur, long whiskers, and chubby paws. It grasps at Tommary's hands and claps in gratitude. The creature leaps out of the box, chirps at the bard and curls up around his feet.

”Awwwwww!!! It’s so cute!!!” Toots immediately runs to the other box and opens it!!

"Great," Tommary speculates,  "Toots' overabundance of life force has been made manifest as a ... otter?  I guess."  Tommary sizes up the creature's potential as a hat or underwear lining but the cold season is past so that's getting ahead of himself.  "If I open the other box, are you going to behave or fight?  I'm taking a reprieve from scratches."  To the party he says, "I found this.  I'll watch it if anyone wants to flip the switch or lever thingy over by the statue, or we can trade responsibilities."
