*OOC there was a controversial line of talking barbie dolls where Barbie would say "math class is tough" this sort of precipitated/galvanized the girls in STEM learning movement as well as the financing for some well financed saboteur/pranksters The Barbie Liberation Organization to break into a Hasbro mfr facility and swap enough Barbie and G.I. Joe voice chips that it got press attention.
*OOC is there something within my Survival/Nature skills I can do from where I'm standing to either support Toots risk assessment or determine whether the pendulum is the arguably more stable option? I'm trying to determine a tactic that will maximize safety of the party, either option basically involves rope handholds (though I guess if we had something like 3-400 feet of rope we could fashion three ropes along the edge, one to stand on and two higher ones at varying heights for an upper hand hold). That would take much longer than belaying the wall; but I don't think we're in a rush, and I don't mind sweating in the sulfur fumes while we think this over. "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast" as Tommary was trained in the scout corps.
OOC: What does everyone else think about Oethe trying the solidified mud? If he takes off his chain mail(He can replace it) then he won't weigh very much and he'll take minimal fire damage.

Ah. I believe I did hear about that. Not the break-in and chip swapping though.

Well, Toots doesn’t weigh very much. I’m sure we could divvy up the load. And at the very least she’s carrying an additional set of Leather armor that she isn’t using and Oethe could have that.

OOC: Oethe can make new armor pretty easily. He's a forge cleric.
"If Oethe wants some time in this kitchen, he's welcome to take some of the heat. I may have a swig of that there purple drank Toots found, is it bubbly and sweet?"

"My sword is not convinced those 'plates' of mud are safe. Of course, it has been behaving like a bit of a mother hen lately.....Still, I think we are better off trying to reach those disks above us. Getting the rope up there is beyond my abilities, but I trust Tommary can do so."
OOC: Does the sword voice have a clearly defined gender? Or a preferred pronoun? Also, lore wise, are there particular deities that would make sense for an ancients paladin in this setting? Or should I just come up with one?
OOC: I keep getting Sophia's voice in my head...
Regarding deities, you can make one up or choose one.
OOC: Oethe is a forge cleric, so he has fire resistance.
Oethe steps onto one of the chucks and it does move a little. Some hot slime sloshes around the cracks but it does support his weight.
OOC: If the party wants to climb, it could be done with a little bit of effort. The walls are still wet from steam and mud splash but there are many places to grab and step.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Realizing more fully that there are openings above the party on both sides of the chamber Tommary decides to climb the wall and take a peak through the opening on "our" side of the chamber, since we really don't know much about this tunnel network at all, maybe we're passing something we shouldn't. Athletics 22.

You easily find anchor points to climb up to the platform. At the top you peer over and see a passage of worked stone leading into darkness after about 30 feet.

Elyona watches Toots and Tommary head off to inspect passageways with some trepidation, not about them, but bout what will happen when it comes to be her turn. In the back of her mind she can hear the taunts of her playmates, calling her out for being clumsy. She tries to divide her attention between the two of them, on the lookout for trouble.
OOC: Do the two little critters exist in the database for me to add as miscellaneous extras, or should I just make note of them somehow. And do you want me to track their weight for Toots’s encumbrance?
If he can do it comfortably from his present perch he'll do the following, and if can't he'll stealthily pull himself onto the ledge to not overpenetrate the passage. He'll take his [spell]light[/spell[ coin and toss it further into the passage to extend his vision. *OOC I know light can't be stealthily travel tossed down a passage, but I'm hoping if anything sees it they won't necessarily see where whoever threw it was positioned.
stealth: 11
If my findings are mundane I'll give a verbal report down to the group. If there's something prompting me to advise caution I'll message Elyona.

*OOC don't know if we got any house rules in this regard but my lighted coin toss from hiding was a nat 1. It's like "reality" needed to assert itself.
You see Toots scamper along the shifting chucks or dirt easily hopping from one to another keep her balance all the way to just under the other opening. She narrowly misses being covered by a steaming mud burst but still get splattered (5 damage).
Climbing like a gecko, she makes her way up to the platform and takes a peek. Toots can also see a passage and ends in darkness after about 30 feet.
OOC: I would consider the creatures to have negligible weight. You can just make a note of them if you wish.

Toots will rely on her small frame and light weight to traverse the mud field on foot at a good clip and then attempt to climb on the other side.
