Adding my voice to call for Eberron's return. A small advance to the narrative is nice and would be welcome. I don't really want answers to the Mournlands and other mysteries of Eberron. What I would like for those is how the people of Eberron are interacting and dealing with them. Maybe even more conspiracy theories for these things.
I am currently running a game in Eberron in the Lhazar Principalities. The players are new to Eberron and still getting used to 5e rules so I started them off castaway on an island with Dakani defendants and ruins. A Dakani civilization built around Egyptian and meso-American cultures with an elemental focused religion. As I'm pulling pieces from Princes of the Apocalypse that I liked and want to use later on. The intention is they will escape the island and then they need to find/acquire a new vessel. Then go and recover the sunken treasure. That's when I'll really introduce those great Eberron elements, (dragonmarked houses, elemental ships, and such).
Can I play in your game!!! Seriously, that sounds great. I haven't played in an Eberron campaign for some time. I love how you are slowly bringing your characters into the fold with Eberron. Do they know what world they are in? I have been seriously thinking about making Eberron the next game I run. I just love using the Inspired as antagonists. I guess with the Mystic in playtest right now we are close to having Psionics in the game... I sold all my old 3.5 books when 4th came out and regretted it from day 1. My birthday is coming up and I asked my SO to get me the 3.5 setting, Sharn City of Towers and Secrets of Sarlona.
Do you plan on reworking the Dragonmarks at all? I was thinking with this edition they would need a little work done to match 5E, not too much, though. I would love to hear your thoughts on this. And no lie, I use elemental ships in every game I run now. Heck, Storm King's Thunder even has an elemental ship in it! One I didn't have to put in. lol
Also, that podcast is dope. It was great to hear someone talk about Eberron for an hour...even better to hear that cast of characters and Keith Baker talk about it. All this time I was pronouncing House Lyrandar wrong! (Thanks, Keith! :) )

I messed up. Did you ever mess up and not realzied you messed up until it was brought to your attention? Well...
I got moderated for posting links to things we are not supposed to. I understand why and I want to apologize to everyone for posting those links and setting a bad example. I wasn't really thinking and I just wanted to let people who haven't experienced Eberron to see what it was like. As with any Wizards property, it's illegal to download or suggest downloading such things. I don't condone downloading illegal stuff...I just wasn't thinking. I mean, I was suggesting 3.5 books and at the time saw no harm in it. Now, after actually thinking about it I see the error of suggesting such things even if it was for a good cause of sharing some more information. Still, it was wrong and I am sorry.
I just want y'all who never had a chance to experience Eberron to see what we are talking about. (Hence, this amazing thread!) It is one of the best worlds Wizards has ever published. It's not Tolkien high fantasy, it's grounded into this mix of storytelling and magic as a real world tool; like electricity is for us. It feels more real than (and I hate saying this because he's my hero) Drizzt and the Realms. Anyways, we're all here to make Wizards products better, wherein discussing our loves and hates of this new Edtion and our hope and dreams for it. So, in that light, I would like to say let's be careful about infringing on the rights owned by Wizards as a whole... because let's be honest; we're here today on these boards because of all the hard work the games creators made for us to enjoy. And continue to create with the help of Curse. Be careful with what you post, even if it is good hearted there are still legalities to assess when posting on this thread/forums owned and operated by Wizards and Curse. And look what they have given us thus far with DDB.
Okay, thanks for listening and I'm sorry for setting a bad example to other posters on these forums.

What I am allowed to share is that there is an Eberron wiki out there. It has a lot of good information for those interested in the Eberron world. I would highly suggest picking up an Eberron novel as well. The Dreaming Dark trilogy (by the great Keith Baker himself!) and The Mark of Death by Matt Forbeck too! Those were great yarns that delve into the world of Eberron and can show you what the world and mindset is of most characters.:)
(Don't worry, I made sure we are allowed to share the wiki link!)

To everyone who enjoyed the first episode of Manifest Zone, thank you for the kind words! I'm one of the hosts (and sort of producer as I do the recording, posting, website maintenance, coordinating, social media management, etc.). I'm really excited about our future episodes, and we have some ideas on how to get you more content between the monthly episodes. Stay tuned!
Finally had a chance to finish the podcast...it was pretty awesome. Hell, i reviewed it before I even listened to the whole thing lol Anyways, thanks again for posting! I can't wait for the next one :)
There wouldn't happen to be written transcripts of those podcasts floating around would there?
Unfortunately, no. That would either take way more time than any of us have or cost us a lot of money. (Transcripts are expensive.)
I'm considering doing a bit more of an outline of topics covered for the show notes and adding MP3 chapter marks onto the episodes. The former takes a little bit of time to put together, and the latter will take time (listening to the entire show while adding markers) and money (have to purchase the app to do it with first). ;)
I play in a modern Eberron world taking place with the technology of the 50's. In this world, the giants of Xen'Drik are all dead, having being slain by the Deneith mercenaries to ensure the safety of Stormreach. House Cannith and Kundarak are now insanely powerful and are power-hungry. House Sivis and House Vadalis are out of business and are barely scraping a living, while House Tharaskh, Lyrandar, and Medani are needed even more than normal. The Warforged are becoming exceedingly rare and those who still exist are treated as museum exhibits and lab rats.

Hey, you're welcome...sorry for the typos in the review...lol Everton...haha Anyways, now I am even more excited for future episodes and for more content. I really appreciate you stopping by our little thread to give a shout out. That's super cool. :)

Personally as far as races , classes, and dragon marks go I think the new 5e versions are more than fine. what it's really lacking is updated stats, descriptions, and costs of the worlds tech and dragon stones. I want my lightning rails and land carts; not to mention the other Cannith tech.

I need to see the progression of the world too. We all know that The Last War isn't truly over. That there is another one coming. Whereas the last war was modeled after World War One (kind of, right?) I feel like Eberron should progress with that and shadow WWII. Where there is a good side and a bad side. I know there are thousands of gray areas within Eberron itself, that's what makes it such an amazing world to play in. Yet, there are supreme evils in this world that have done nothing short but try to bring about its end. I feel like this world should start to feel a connection within itself. There's a war coming, one that was promised. And I feel like that's where Eberron should start. The storm clouds rising and the treaties and alliances of The Treaty of Thronehold start to break. Give us some adventures and modules leading up to and during the next conflict. And of course, CANNITH TECH!!! :P

Sorry, crew's all full right now. :)
So, I'm going to pull the Unearthed Arcana Dragonmarks for when they come up. I do have a Lyrandar heir, who is also and artificer, from the recent Unearthed Arcana, and the crew's surgeon. Read the surgeon on this link, as we are using it to define the PCs rolls on the ship, and tell me Artificer/Surgeon doesn't sound awesome and so right. So, like I said they are exploring a crypt from my offshoot Dakani, again mashing up Eqyptian and Mesoamerican styles, which will lead them off the island. Once off the island, they will, at some point, meet Inspired emissaries to the Principalities, dragonmarked house heirs, early on probably Deneith, Jorasco, and Tharashk. Then expand further depending on what they do.
One thing I was thinking of doing is providing clues to a slightly crazed Zil Gnome who is trying to invent a elemental submarine and have them help him complete it. Possibly running up against the Trust. This idea amuses me because I honestly love the Gnomes of Zilargo, a country of Tyrion Lannisters, (to varying degees), and it just seemed like a neat idea. Submarine with two elementals powering it, Air for breathability and water for locomotion.

I've been playing a Mat Mercer Fighter: Gunslinger and when I downloaded then new 5e stuff I had to take a Dragonmark as a feat to add to the magic I got from Magic Initiate (druid craft, thorn whip, entangle). Don't have time to tinker up something? Magic; Busted equipment or constructs? Magic; Can figure out what they new magic item does? Magic; Your weapon doing less then desirable damage to that resistant monster? Magic!!! It also fits considering some small things in my character's background and being a Gunslinger. Dragonmark Magic For The Win; Cannith For Life!!!

Eberron is not Eberron without House Cannith :D
I bet Cannith is everyone's favorite house. Actually, we should start a thing about our least favorite houses in Eberron.
I'm around the age of D&D, but I experienced it for the first time through the world of Eberron in D&D Online. I thought, "D&D is steam punk??? What have I been missing out on?" Of course, later learned about Darksun, Greyhawk, and the unrelenting push of the Realms since 5.o.
When 5.0 came out, I was pretty psyched about Eberron. The DMG listed it as a world, PoTA had a 'converter' for the various worlds... but it didnt take long to see that 5.0 is the Realms... period. Strahd, Yawning Portal, etc., = Realms. Heck, even Volos guide, for obvious reasons, is Realms - but as a monster manual 2, essentially, its dissapointing the lack of support for other worlds.
In trying to see the good in Volos potential to tie worlds, that are linked in their multi-verse, I was happy that beholders origins were left as unknown... after all, we all know the Daelkyr are responsible for them! :)
Personally - the Realms, tried to like it... played a full campaign, PoTA there, but... ... got tired of waiting for Eberron support and bought essentially every 3.0 Eberron sourcebook available. (Maybe thats WoTCs goal) At this point, really not sure I will purchase more 5.0 material if they cant show some love to other worlds.
It does seem this is their route with 5.0. Why reprint material already out there? To them people will complain they already have the same material for Eberron or the Realms, hence why we only have the anemic SCAG... The DMsGuild and DrivethruRPG are there to help those who want to know more about a setting... albeit through older editions. :)
Until that time, Keith Baker keeps an updated blog on Eberron... enough to fill a book with. Lot of good info, and his thoughts on 5.0 unearthed arcana for Psionics. http://keith-baker.com/category/gaming/eberron-faq/
YEs. This. My intro to DnD was Baldur's Gate, and the Dragonlance books, but I love DDO, and to me, Eberron is the best of what DnD can be.
I havent purchased SCAG or Volos, and I doubt I will until they bloody well support other worlds a bit.

NAh. My favorite house is probably either Thurrani or Tharashk. I like the effect of Cannib upon the world, but as a campaign element to acuallybdirectly interact with, it's mid teir, for me.
t
Also, I am with Keith Baker on the idea of moving time forward. I want Eberron to stay where it is, no big time jump, no enumerating the cause of the mourning, etc. there is plenty still unexplored without changing what Eberron is, as a setting.

Same. Except for the House part. Mine is Cannith and Lyrandar/Medani. Or Tarkanan, if that counts.
I love Eberron. Would like to see Eberron in DnD 5th Ed.
