Post unpronounceable names from your campaigns here. I'll start with Ógleð, a valor bard I just got into a game with a few minutes ago. I have no idea how to pronounce it, since it's horribly butchered Old Norse in a PBP.
I have Shorrhiashkmargid Wudaar, son of Nyemphuuk and Luamrandraarges Wudaar, heir to the throne of Zruodrora. I doubt anyone but me can pronounce those names very easily.

I think Thauraeln was pretty hard to pronounce. Grisknarael, his father, is difficult as well. Azirymtul, a dragonborn sorcerer, isn't easy, either. Gyvlaras, a red slaad, is pretty difficult, as well.

Okay that was made up and I suck at humour. From actual campaign a character (not mine), was a Kenku we called Scree. It was our nickname for him. His actual name was the sound of a thousand Hellish fiends screeching over the sound of millions of damned souls wailing in unrelenting torture and agony.
We never learned how teh feck he got that as a name and we didn't want to find out.

Why reinvent the wheel when there are good names already on this planet.
The number of people I found saying "war-KES-stir-shire" for Worcestershire (a county in England) is shocking. It's a word I learned how to pronounce properly as a kid. (If you're also thinking war-KES-stir-shire, it's pronounced far more simply as WUStersher.)
Now, I did a stupid and also included, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch (which is in Wales). I intended to trip up other people, but it trips me up far more. I can spell it just fine, but yikes on the pronunciation.

I'm Welsh and I can't pronounce that name. XD
Worcestershire I can though. Not only is it a county, it's the name of a condiment (Worcestershire Sauce), which my dad and bro loved.

Let’s go with salealoncks Morel, the proper name of my dual soul

The only character I have that comes close to an unpronounceable name based on it's spelling is Ix. Instead of sounding like "icks" it's more like "esh".
I just don't like unpronounceable names because they always seems like they're being difficult - just for the sake of being difficult.

Aka Xbophijian, Dragonborn Bard. It's not impossible, but there are various options and the proper non dragon mawed humanoid method of pronunciation from the Draconic has yet to be settled. For instance, we're pretty sure the initial "X" is pronounced "sk," "ex," or "z". We're good with the "b" but not sure about the "o" yet. So usually people just usually call her either Ay-ka or Ah-ka.
one guy in my party had a really hard name to pronounce so I kept calling his character Gaston, which sounded similar, but he embraced it.
I think player should stay away from hard to pronounce and remember names.
I very much disagree. It's fun to be the only one who can actually pronounce your character's name.
Everyone else can call them by a nickname.

A similar effect to "I am the only one who can pronounce this name" can be had with "I am the only one who can remember this name".
None of the individual names in my kitsune warlock's name are particular difficult to pronounce or remember. But when she introduces herself as Nytra Xyroxi Helnoa Ufeli Bitterclear (raised by a gnome, leaned hard into the gnomish penchant for collecting gmany gnomish gnames), she gets quite a bit of "WHOAH. Settle down, lady. Start over, with less mouth seizure this time?" Or did before her game died, anyways. I can rattle that off with nary a hitch (most of the time), but nobody else ever has. It's the Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III approach, which I've found to be more enjoyable and memorable (for a given definition of 'memorable') than ****** umlauts, or saying "I'm fluent in Sindarin; I'm going to write and pronounce my character's name and also my entire character sheet in grammatically correct Sindarin and when people ask me what all this swoopy chicken scratch is, I'm going to tease them for not being Tolkienerdy enough."

Okay is it just me or are all these names (apart from Cyb3rM1nd's) actually pretty easy to pronounce? Or am I just good at pronouncing stuff?
