Backstory: When Rufus the Ruthless wasn’t chosen to be part of Santa’s sleigh team he was filled with rage. He didn’t think it was fair that Rudolph should be put on a pedestal just because of his disfigurement, a glowing red nose. Rufus the Ruthless, one night, decided to end Rudolph and attacked Santa, he then replaced Santa’s body parts with robotics and made a remote so he could control Santa. Next he found Rudolph and cut off his glowing red nose, the shock and the loss killed Rudolph but Rufus raised him from his snowy grave as a zombie. Rudolph was then never free of Rufus’s tyrannical control.

Cats will eat dead bodies. If someone dies while locked in with their cats and nobody comes before the cats' food runs out, they start on the corpse.
